âHaving a baby is my business, so what if you donât agree?â Armand approached.
He was very determined, just like in the hospital.
His grandmother, Elizabeth, was surprised by his attitude. So she asked the nurse to lend her a wheelchair from the hospital and came to the villa in the evening, even though she was now quite ill. She wanted Matthew and Boyce to convince Armand.
As soon as Elizabeth saw her grandson, tears welled up in her eyes, âWhat the hell is the matter with you?â
She wondered if he had been charmed by the temptress.
Theresa clasped her hands together, watching as Armand approached from not far away.
She wasnât surprised, as she knew Boyce must have informed him.
In fact, she thought it was a good opportunity to discuss the matter openly.
If Armandâs grandmother could not accept her no matter what, she would leave him.
It was unnecessary to make Armand upset between them.
âArmand, have you forgotten about Theresa?â Elizabeth struggled to convince Armand. After all, he used to like Theresa.
âI am Theresa.â
Just after Armand approached them, he heard Theresa say it directly to Elizabeth.
He glanced at her. In the light, he watched her calm face.
He knew she wasnât as calm inside as she looked now.
Armand reached out to take her hand, and looked at his grandmother.
Elizabeth was confused. She thought she had heard something wrong.
âWhatâ¦what did you say?â Her first reaction was that the young woman was lying to her.
She had met Theresa before.
âSheâs telling the truth. She was kidnapped and badly injured back then, which is why her appearance changed. It was also because of that explosion, she canât be a mother.â
Armand had planned to convince Elizabeth before taking Theresa to her and telling her what had happened.
In that case, Theresa didnât need to have the stress of not having a child. After all, her grandmother would give up on the idea.
However, things did not turn out the way they had. Therefore, she could only tell her grandmother everything frankly. She hoped that she would forgo mentioning the child because of the fact that Theresa had suffered so much.
Elizabeth could not speak for a long while. She stared at Theresa, trying to find a trace of the past in her face.
However, it was too difficult. She could find none.
âAre you⦠Are you really Theresa?â Elizabethâs voice trembled with disbelief and shock.
Theresa parted her lips and wanted to admit it. Suddenly, Armand grabbed her hand and said to his grandmother, âYes. Itâs Theresa.â
Elizabeth waved her hand, âGo away. I just want to listen to her.â He looked at Theresa without blinking.
Theresa didnât hesitate. She said, âYes, itâs Theresa.â
Elizabeth parted her lips, but couldnât utter a word for a long moment.
It was so unbelievable.
After a long moment, she reached out her hand to Theresa and gestured, âCome. Let me take a lookâ¦â
Theresa pulled Armandâs hand away, walked over to Elizabeth and gently squatted down. Elizabeth reached out her trembling hands and stroked his cheeks. It was a completely strange face.
It seemed so strange to her that Elizabeth could hardly believe it was Theresa.
She couldnât imagine how badly Theresa had been injured to have to change her appearance.
Even her voice was different. She was another woman entirely.
âIt was our faultâ¦â
Elizabeth wiped the tears that were falling from the corner of her eye. She felt sorry for Theresa and also shocked. She still couldnât accept the fact.
As shocked as she felt, it was clear to her: the young woman was Theresa. As long as Theresa was with Armand, she would not be able to have a great-grandchild in her lifetime.
However, if she were against them, she would not bear the burden of her conscience.
Elizabeth was frightened and ambivalent.
âWhen did you come back, why didnât you come to see me?â Elizabeth calmed down.
Theresa lowered her head in silence.
Even if she was silent, Elizabeth knew the reason: âIt must be because of Armand, the bastard. Heâs hurt you so much that you didnât even want to come see meâ¦. I can understand you.â Elizabeth held Theresaâs hand tightly, âAs long as youâre okay, itâs okay.â
She really hoped Theresa was safe and sound.
Theresa pressed her lips together and said, âIâm sorry.â
âItâs not your fault. Itâs ours.â Elizabeth was quite reasonable. She knew who had done something wrong in the past.
Armand squatted down next to Theresa and put his arm around her shoulder, âGrandma, I want to be with Theresa. Do you agree?â
Elizabeth looked at him, knowing she had to get an answer.
If she didnât agree, she would be a ruthless woman. After all, Theresa had become that way because of her.
âOf course, I agree.â Elizabeth could not accept that Theresa would not become a mother, but she thought everything could be cured since medical knowledge was so advanced now.
Armand had never expected that his grandmother could accept that they would not have children because it was Theresa. He was overjoyed, âYouâre the best, Grandma!â.
He hugged Elizabeth excitedly.
Elizabeth, however, was not thrilled at all. She pulled her grandson aside and said to Theresa, âWill you come see me in the hospital tomorrow?â
Theresa hesitated for a moment and replied, âSure.â
Elizabeth patted her hand, âItâs getting late. You should go to bed early.â
Armand helped Theresa up, still feeling too excited. He said, âThank you, Grandma.â
Elizabeth ignored Armand and didnât answer him. She shouted to the nursing worker standing in the distance, âPush me.â
Armand was quick to say, âIâll escort Theresa. Please let me send you to the hospital later.â
Theresa said, âNo, thank you, Armand. Please send Grandma back.â
After all, Elizabeth could not walk and needed help sitting in the car. It was appropriate for Armand to send her back.
Armand still wanted to say something, but Theresa smiled at him, âLetâs meet tomorrow at the hospital.â
After finishing her words, she turned around and walked into the villa.
Armand didnât follow her. It made sense: his grandmother had agreed, so they had plenty of opportunities in the future. He pushed Elizabeth and pulled her back.
Inwardly, however, Elizabeth planned to find a good doctor to check Theresa out.
Armand was still ecstatic that his grandmother had accepted Theresa. He didnât realize that Elizabeth had her own goal of asking Theresa to go to the hospital.
