Boyce looked at him, his expression was totally expressionless, he really didnât know anything about Theresaâs arrival in B-Town.
He remembered Theresaâs facial expression and her tone of voice, everything seemed to indicate that she knew what Elizabeth wanted from them.
If not, how come Armand didnât know she had arrived in B-Town.
Why didnât she want to tell Armand?
Even Boyce felt extremely anxious for Armand, he had finally earned Theresaâs forgiveness and even gave her a chance to start over. Now, with the obstacle of infertility, it would be difficult to deal with Elizabeth later.
It was natural for an older person to have such a traditional mindset, although there were also many young people that age who had a hard time accepting a childless marriage.
A child would be an important bond in a marriage.
When two people have a child together, it brings them closer together.
âGeezâ¦â
Boyce unconsciously let out a sigh.
Armand fixed his eyes on him, âWhatâs wrong with you, has a conflict arisen between you and Jasmine, or havenât you patched things up with Wendy?â
âWhy do you think this has anything to do with me?â Boyce gave her a look full of pity.
âWhy did you sigh then?â Armand couldnât see that Boyce was worried about him.
Boyce ignored him and knocked on the door.
He would understand it all when he met Theresa.
Jasmine was in the kitchen with Coral, and everyone else at home was either elderly or a child. Jessica Lennon didnât have a chance to interact much with the two children when she returned, she was hugging the two children as they talked.
She got up and opened the door.
âBoyceâ¦â
She was about to welcome Boyce home when she discovered Armand standing next to her. She couldnât help but freeze in place, but managed to recover rather quickly and turned to Boyce.
Hadnât she said not to let Armand know she was here?
Boyce shrugged and acted nonchalant, âI didnât tell him, he was the one who insisted on following me to the villa for dinner. I had no choice.â
Theresa understood their relationship inside and out, they were even closer than biological siblings, she gripped the door tightly, âDo you think Iâd believe what you say?â
âIf you donât trust me, you can ask Armand if he was the one who insisted on accompanying me.â Boyce nudged Armand, âSpeak then, go and explain yourself.â
All Armand did was stare at Theresa without uttering a word.
He finally realized why Boyce urged him to come to the villa.
He ruminated on why Theresa left him out of the notification when he got here.
âHave you been to the hospital?â he tried to disguise his panic.
Theresa didnât utter a sound.
Boyce tactfully slipped sideways into the house.
Armand grabbed Theresaâs wrist and pulled her straight toward the wicker chair that was set on the lawn. âSay, why didnât you let me know you were here in B-town?â
âI want to pay a visit to the two children, donât I?â. Theresa sat back in the chair, her head tilted toward him.
âDo you think Iâm stupid? If you only came to see the children, why is there any need to keep this from me?â Armand held back his anger.
He was angry with her for not telling him the truth.
Theresa continued to feign ignorance, âItâs not that Iâm keeping it from you, itâs that I havenât had time to tell you.â
âHaha-â
Armand let out a chuckle, âThe last time we contacted was not too long ago, judging by the time, you were already in B-Town when we spoke, werenât you?â
Theresa paused and replied, âI just wanted to surprise you, didnât I?â
Armand closed his eyes and repressed all his emotions, then sat down in the other rattan chair and pondered deeply before asking, âYou⦠know something, donât you?â
She didnât think it was a surprise, if it was, she would have done it before. In that case, Boyce had no need to be the bridge here.
âI donât know what youâre talking about.â Theresa turned away and avoided Armandâs gaze.
Armand caught her hand and held it in his palm, âHave you heard anything from my grandmother?â
Otherwise, things wouldnât have been so abnormal. Now that he thought about it, the moment she called him was when he had just finished his conversation with the young lady. Was this all a coincidence?
âYou wanted to pay her a visit too and you heard what she said, am I right?â Armand held her hand tightly, âTheresa, you have to believe me, I donât need a son, as long as youâ¦â
âThatâs fine with you, but what about your grandmother, doesnât she care about having a child?â cried Theresa suddenly, but the next moment she deflated completely, âArmandâ¦â
âYou donât need to say anything else.â Armand got off the chair and knelt down in front of Theresa holding her legs, âI really donât need a child, you have to believe me.â
âI do, but what do we do about your grandmother?â Theresa ducked her head and looked up at him, her vision blurring, tears starting to well up in her eyes, âI donât want to drag youâ¦â
âWhat are you talking about?â asked Armand emotionlessly, âItâs not your fault that we canât have a child, it was me, Itâs my fault!â.
Theresa felt overwhelmed and didnât want this to continue.
âArmandâ¦â
âDonât even think about telling me we should break up, it wasnât easy for us to start over, how can you say such hurtful things so easily?
Iâll face my grandmother and convince her, once everything is settled, Iâll take you to see her. Donât go thinking about the unnecessary, okay?â Armand held her hand tighter, he was afraid of losing her. âI know the pressure is enormous for you, so leave everything in my hands, I just need you to give me some time.â
Theresa took a deep breath and wiped away her tears, she said calmly, âI understand, everyone is waiting at the house, it wonât be very good for us to stay out here any longer.â
Armand nodded, the two pulled themselves together and went back inside.
The food was already served, Matthew Nelson wasnât home, so Jayden Nelson was the man of the house. He made his own decision and asked Coral to open two bottles of wine. Jessica had been released from jail today, and both Matthew and Dolores Flores were gone. She represented them to give Jessica a warm welcome home.
Although she was not Doloresâ biological mother, but after all she was the one who raised her all her life.
They considered themselves family if her past hadnât been brought up.
âIâll call Matthew later tonight, your release is good news, Iâm sure Dolores will be glad to hear this too.â Jayden said.
Jessica was filled with guilt, what she did was wrong, and it was nothing to be proud of. She stroked Amanda Nelsonâs hair and cherished this moment, âI thank everyone for not abandoning me, I will lead a good life from now on.â
âWeâre not family if we make a big deal out of it.â explained Jayden.
Kevin Forbis also joined in, he sat next to Jayden and raised his glass, âHereâs to your freedom.â
Jessica was a lightweight, but cooperated, âThank you.â
Kevin introduced himself, âIâm Matthewâs uncle, weâre considered related, so donât worry. You all live in the same village, weâre family.â Jessica smiled.
âOnly mom and dad are absent today.â Andrew Nelson looked at the crowded table and expressed his disappointment.
They had suddenly gone abroad, Grandpa told him that Dad and Mom had gone on a trip to other countries. School had just started for him and his sister, and his mother was still pregnant, how was it possible that they were on a trip? He didnât accept a word of what he was told and felt deeply troubled inside.
Jessica stroked his head and comforted the child silently.
Armand, who loved to chatter, was completely silent at the table, Boyce and Jasmine were also quiet.
He had introduced himself when Jessica returned, and they all knew each other already.
The older ones didnât have much to talk about either, only Matthew wasnât present.
Dinner was pleasant, when it was over, Armand said goodbye to the seniors. He told them that his grandmother was admitted and that he had to go back to the hospital.
He was being filial, no one would have said anything to stop him.
Theresa helped clean up the dishes without thinking about talking to Armand, she thought it best for them both to take advantage of this time to calm down.
However, Armand called out to her, âTheresa, can you give me a ride? Iâm not driving today.â
