They all turned their heads, only to see Officer Miller striding down the road with a grim expression. They stepped aside to make way for him and greeted him quietly, âOfficer Miller.â
The man did not respond. He was enraged.
Last night, Officer Miller caught a cold. His wife urged him to go to the hospital for a checkup today, so he went, thinking his wife was worried about him. But on the way, he sensed something wasnât right.
His wife hadnât been happy since their daughter came home last night. She told them she had broken up with Boyce.
Officer Miller thought his wife might have some kind of trap in her head, and sure enough, she did.
After taking him to the hospital, she came to the office to provoke a fight.
This made Officer Miller feel embarrassed.
Mrs. Miller was afraid of her husband. Otherwise, she would not have sent him to the hospital before coming to the police station.
âYou⦠You didnât go to the hospital?â
MⱺÉÉ ÉÏÈ¡Ä Å£ÉÅ Ä©Å É¢Ä ÅÅøνÉÅÅ.çøɱ âHmph! Instead of dying of illness, youâre going to rage me to death first. How many times have I told you to leave young peopleâs affairs alone? Have you ever listened to my words? Are you only going to shut up when I divorce you?â Officer Millerâs face was red with anger, and no one had ever seen him like this before.
After being in high office for many years, most people feared him when he got angry.
What more to say about Mrs. Miller, who was a woman?
She was also afraid of her husband, but fortunately, he was not the type to get angry often. This time, however, she had really irritated him.
âWhat are you dreaming, move!â
It was embarrassing for Mrs. Miller to be scolded by her husband in front of so many people, but she dared not retort and could only stifle her displeasure as she turned away.
âGet back to work, everyone. Donât stay here.â Officer Miller ordered.
The situation was not a cheerful one, and it was not good to meddle in the affairs of his superior, so everyone quickly moved away from the scene and into the building.
âYou should get back to work too.â Officer Miller told Boyce that he hadnât left.
Boyce nodded and entered the office after everyone else.
Mrs. Miller was not happy as she did not get what she wanted and was even reprimanded by her husband. She called out, âBoyceâ¦â
Officer Miller shot a glance in her direction immediately. It made her tremble with fear for a moment and she immediately fell silent.
Boyce pretended not to hear him and headed for his office.
âHe has betrayed our daughter, how can you still stand by his sideâ¦?â
âShut up!â Officer Miller was shaking with fury at that moment, âCome in with me.â
Mrs. Miller held the bag tightly and followed Officer Miller into his office, who slammed the door shut behind them. If anyone were to look closely, they would undoubtedly see that the ceiling was shaking a little.
Now, she no longer dared say a word and merely stood by the door.
âWhat on earth do you want? Youâve come to embarrass me, you know that? You want me to die an untimely death?â Officer Miller paced back and forth in his office with his hands behind his back.
Mrs. Miller whispered, âI was just trying to do something for our daughter.
Who does she think she is to separate herself the way she wants to?â
That made Officer Miller stop dead in his tracks to stare at his wife, âWhat, canât couples break up in their relationships? Your daughter has even been divorced before.â
âThe divorce wasnât her faultâ¦â
âIt doesnât matter whose fault it was, but she got divorced, didnât she? Even married couples get divorced, so why canât people just break up? Why does he have to marry her? What good is she?â Mrs. Miller couldnât respond to anything her husband said.
She pursed her lips and said in a soft voice, âWhose father are you? It sounded like Boyce was your son from the way you were talkingâ¦â
Officer Miller clutched his chest angrily, thinking to himself, Why canât I get my words across to this woman.
âAre you trying to enrage me to death?â Officer Miller slammed his palm down hard on the table, âHow much have I sinned in my past life to be married to such an unreasonable woman as you!â
Mrs. Miller did not feel guilty at all. Seeing how angry her husband was, she held back no longer and counterattacked, âI know you look down on me. You wouldnât have married me then if it werenât for your father. You still donât love me after all these years.â
Officer Miller felt a wave of heat rush to his head. It made him dizzy.
He had long since accepted his fate after so many years. It was enough for him that she gave birth to his daughter and took care of the family. He treated her well too, so why was he bringing up those things from the past again now?
Officer Miller felt he had lived his life in vain.
He gasped loudly, âYou! You, you must be trying to piss me off ad nauseam. You want me to leave, donât you?â
âIsnât what I said right? Would you have married me if it werenât for your father?â
âWeâve been married for decades. Why does it matter now?! Ahâ¦â Officer Miller clutched his heart, feeling choked and breathless. Mrs. Miller rushed over to him and patted him on the back, âWhatâs going onâ¦?â
Officer Miller shoved her away, âYouâre going to piss me off to death!â.
He thumped his chest, thinking to himself:How did he mess with such a woman.
She was going to go on until he was dead!
âIâm just patting you on the back, why does that make you angry? Why are you so ungrateful? I only hit Boyce because I wanted to get justice for our daughter! Since you canât lecture him because youâre his superior, Iâll do it! Who do you think Iâm doing it for, isnât it our daughter? Youâre the one on the wrong sideâ¦â
Before she could finish her sentence, Officer Miller had passed out from anger.
âAh! Honey!â Mrs. Miller was shocked, âSomebody! Somebody help me!â
Soon, the door to her office was pushed open. When the other officers saw that Officer Miller had fainted, they rushed him to the car to send him to the hospital.
Mrs. Miller followed behind them, âShould we call the ambulance instead?â
âWeâll have to wait if we call the ambulance. Itâs faster if we send Officer Miller to the hospital now.â
She agreed and quickly helped put her husband in the back seat of the car.
She put his head in her lap, urging, âHurry.â
âYes, madame. Sit properly.â
It didnât take long for the car to pull out onto the street.
Not long after, the car parked at the hospital entrance. At that moment, a cab pulled up near them as well.
