âWhatâs wrong?â Dolores glanced at her son who was standing in front of the couch.
Andrew pointed to his sister who was still crying, âHe wants to play Cat and Mouse but cries when he loses.â
âYouâre such a nuisance.â Amanda wiped away her tears, ran to her dad and mom and complained, âItâs so annoying.â Dolores gave her a wordless look.
She was worried when Amanda freaked out and didnât speak for a long time, but she was back to her old self after she recovered.
âWhen are you going to stop being a telltale?â
Matthew Nelson reached out to pat her head, âAdmit your failure.â
Jasmine Burke picked up the pillows and toys that had just been thrown everywhere.
Amanda thought her father would bias her and reprimand her brother, but to her surprise, it was not favored, so she curved her lips and ran back to help Jasmine clean up the toys.
âThis child is not to be spoiled, if you spoil her, she might cry again this time,â Dolores said to the man beside her.
Matthew turned to give her a look, âYou mean Iâm spoiling her?â.
Dolores said, âYou know it yourself.â
After finishing her words, Jasmine walked over, âLeave it, let Coral clean it up.â
She stood up with her hands clutching the hem of her clothes nervously, âItâs okay, itâs not tiring.â
Dolores smiled and said amiably, âYouâre not used to it, are you?â.
Jasmine lowered her head, âItâs fine.â
Dolores could tell she was a little nervous as she felt uncomfortable living here. After all, she didnât know anyone and hadnât spent much time with them.
âMy two sons are very scruffy.â Dolores spoke to her to lighten the mood and also tried to reach out to her to make her feel less contained.
She smiled and said, âThey are very cute and smart.â
Dolores sat down on the couch and asked him to sit down too.
âLet me help you tidy up.â She squatted down in front of the basket of toys and picked them up with Amanda.
The toys had spilled out when they played cat and mouse, and many small pieces were rolling all over the place.
âWhen is Boyce Shawn coming back?â asked Amanda as she tilted her head and looked at Jasmine.
Boyce hadnât called her and she hadnât taken the initiative to contact him because she knew he must be busy and had a lot of things to take care of when he got back.
She couldnât help him, all she could do was not cause him any trouble.
âI donât know too.â
Amanda blinked, âArenât you his girlfriend, how come you donât know his whereabouts?â
Jasmine was amused since she seemed to know so much since she was a child.
âEven if I am his girlfriend, I canât deprive him of his time, can I? He has his own things to do.â
Amanda couldnât quite understand.
âThere are so many things in the adult world. Girlfriends also change one after another.â
Soon her smile changed.
She clearly knew Amanda was referring to her and Wendy Miller.
âSheâs a child. Sheâs immature.â Dolores was afraid to think about it too much.
Jasmine busied herself shaking her head, âItâs my fault really.
If you noticed, it looked like she was the third party that had separated Boyce and Wendy.
Andrew helped his sister put the basket of toys in the corner and said, âLetâs go to the bedroom.â
Amanda nodded, âIs Grandpa in the study room? I want to see what theyâre doing.â
âLetâs go then.â The two walked toward the study room hand in hand.
They now had a close bond and she forgot that she had just cried.
Coral sat down on the couch and looked at Dolores, âDid Boyce tell you about my situation?â
Dolores said, âHe had mentioned something, but he didnât say it in detail.â
Jasmine interlocked her hands and said after being silent for a while, âI have no parents, let alone a good family environment. I canât help you in any wayâ¦â
âBoyce is not the kind of person who needs to depend on othersâ help in his business, you just have to take care of his life,â Dolores interrupted her.
She felt that the relationship is pure, as long as she was clear whether she liked him or not, nothing else mattered and there was no need to worry.
If she thought about it too much, she would tie her own hands.
Jasmine smiled and said, âThank you.â
Doloresâ words had enlightened her. Even after following Boyce back, she was still unsure and had no idea if she had been right or wrong to do so.
She was now sure that Boyce and she loved each other.
Although there was an age difference between them, it was not important.
Dolores patted his hands, âRest soon.â She nodded.
Dolores got up and went upstairs, then pushed open the bedroom door and noticed someone talking on the phone.
Vaguely hearing that he was talking about something to do with the doctor, she felt nervous and lightened her steps to approach, trying to hear what he was saying clearly. However, just as she approached, Matthew hung up the phone. When he turned around and saw Dolores standing behind him, he froze for a moment, âWhen did you come upstairs?â
âI just came upstairs, who were you talking to on the phone?â Dolores cocked her head and asked.
Matthew, who had showered, was wearing silk pajamas and Dolores could smell the scent of his body wash as he stood near her.
âI got a call from the head of the M-Country branch, saying he had contacted a specialist at Mayo Medical Center for a consultation for you. Weâll go there tomorrow afternoon.â
Dolores nodded and said, âOkay.â
Matthew slipped his arm around her shoulders and headed inside, âLetâs go to bed.â
She asked him to sleep first, âIâll go wash up.â
The next day, they woke up early as did the two children as they knew they were going to school while Jasmine helped Coral prepare breakfast.
After lunch, Dolores prepared the relevant paperwork for the two children to go to school. The two children were somewhat excited as they put on their school bags.
She smiled because she thought they were very cute and wondered why they were so excited since there were no books in their backpacks yet.
After dressing them, she braided her daughterâs hair and explained, âYou are a big boy since you go to elementary schoolâ¦â
âI canât be whimsical, I have to be polite and respectful. Youâve said it many times, I know and I remember, you should stop saying it all the time, Mommy,â Amanda said with some impatience.
Andrew pinched her cheek, âLook at your impatient look, youâre ugly.â
âThe ugly one is you!â she hated it when others commented on that.
Dolores sighed and seemed to have no choice with them.
At the dining room table, Matthew said to Jayden Nelson, âIâm taking Lola overseas.â
âGoing overseas at this time? I donât think itâs wise for her to go now.â
Matthew also had the same opinion.
If they wanted to go abroad, it was better to wait until she gave birth.
He didnât hide it from the two elders, âSheâs in poor health, she has to go for a check-up.â
âWhatâs wrong?â Jayden was also worried about Dolores and the baby.
âIâm not sure yet, Iâll let you know when the test is done and the exact result is released,â he said.
âYou go with no worries. Weâll take care of the house and the kids.â
Jayden, however, was not so optimistic. Since they had to go overseas, it had to be no small thing. He stood up and put his hand on Matthewâs shoulder and gripped him firmly, âWhether itâs good or bad, tell me truthfully.â
He replied, âI will.â
Today was the first day of school and they both went to pick up the children. The driver drove the car while they sat in the back with the two children.
When Amanda woke up in the morning, she always had a smile on her face.
It seemed to make you want to go to elementary school.
There were a lot of people at the school entrance and the fancy cars that were parked on the shoulder in a row had blocked the road. The guards were evacuating people from the surrounding area and Matthew frowned as Amanda tugged him to make his way through the crowd, âMove slower.â
It was easy to bump into each other as there was a crowd.
On top of the school building, there was a man standing there staring at Amanda. Her fists clenched tightly as she met his smile and happy gaze.
