âThereâs still some time left, Iâll make sure to get the best doctors to take care of our problem, we still have time, donât worry too much.â Matthew comforted her as he rubbed her back gently.
Dolores slowly closed her eyes; she had been worried all this time.
âDonât worry; Iâll take care of everything.â Matthew kissed her forehead, âAre you sleepy?â.
Dolores shook her head, âHave you eaten? I told Mom to save you some food.â
âI have eaten.â
She didnât, she had no appetite.
âThen take a walk with me.â Dolores didnât want to go back to her room, she felt suffocated.
Matthew nodded and walked with her, holding her hand.
It was a breezy afternoon, not too hot and not too cold.
Dolores took hold of his arm and said, âStay home tomorrow morning, will you?â. Matthew gave her a look.
âTomorrow is September first,â Dolores said, smiling.
Matthew forgot the date until she reminded him.
He missed the birth of his children and didnât want to miss their first day of school.
âDo we have to get anything ready?â Matthew got slightly excited, his children were going to school.
âIt will be too late if I wait for you,â Dolores said as she shot him a look.
Matthew was speechless.
She had everything prepared.
At the Miller residenceâ¦
Boyce visited the Miller residence after the police station. He wanted to cut the strings between Wendy and him as soon as possible.
The Millers were surprised to see him. Officer Miller was the first to speak, he raised his voice to Mrs. Miller, âWhatâs he doing frozen? Let him in.â
Mrs. Miller then welcomed Boyce in an instant.
âYouâre finally back, Boyce. Wendy became very worried after you disappeared.
She couldnât eat or sleep well and had lost an awful lot of weight.â Mrs. Miller was trying hard to create a good impression of her daughter.
While Wendy was still in shock at Boyceâs sudden appearance in front of her, âBoyceâ¦â she muttered.
Boyce, for his part, calmly apologized, âIâm sorry I worried you.â
âThatâs all right. The most important thing is that you come back alive. Iâve been crying since your disappearance, even though you and Wendy havenât married, Iâve treated you like my son-in-law. Iâm so glad youâre coming back alive.â
Mrs. Miller tugged on Boyceâs arm, âCome sit down, have you eaten? Let me fix something to eat.â
Boyceâs appearance shed light on Wendyâs future, Mrs. Miller was anxious to show her concern for Boyce.
âNo need, Iâm not hungry,â Boyce said.
âLet me fix something,â Mrs. Miller insisted.
âNo need,â Boyce declined.
Officer Miller couldnât stand her actions, âShut up!â.
Since when does she cry for Boyce? He was still pressuring Wendy to find someone else.
He sighed at the thought. âWhat happened Boyce, where have you been?â she asked.
Boyce told the truth about what happened and how he was rescued, but skipped the part about Jasmine.
Officer Miller let out a sigh of relief, âIâm glad youâre alive, I thought you were dead.â
âSorry to have worried you,â Boyce apologized again.
âAs long as you come back safe and sound.â Wendy stepped forward and hugged Boyce in front of her parents.
Boyce froze. âWendy.â
He wanted to push her away, but the more he pushed, the tighter she hugged her. âI almost broke down, my days were like years.â
Boyceâs hands froze in the air, âIâm sorry I worried you, Wendy, please get up.â
Wendy hugged herself even tighter when she heard that, âNo, I wonât let you go anymore, I donât want to lose you again.â
Boyce didnât know what to do.
âThereâs something I have to tell you, Wendy.â He wanted to cut the strings between them as soon as possible.
Wendy looked up, âWhat do you want to tell me, are you planning to propose to me?â
âNo Wendy, Iâve come to break up with you,â Boyce said sincerely.
Wendyâs face stiffened, as did Mrs. Mullerâs. Mrs. Miller immediately asked, âWhat did you say?â
Boyce stood up. He bowed to Mr. and Mrs. Miller, âIâm so sorry I canât be with Wendy.â
Officer Miller was calmer compared to the others, he knew from the beginning that Boyce didnât like his daughter, he agreed out of respect for him.
âThere is no point in apologizing, you agreed to be with Wendy but now you break your promise, how could you carry out such a shameful act?â Boyce was speechless; he was the one who broke his promise.
âYou agreed to marry Wendy, how could you break it nowâ¦?â
âThatâs enough!â Officer Miller was annoyed. He knew Boyce didnât like Wendy but he didnât expect him to break up with her. âTell me whatâs going on.â
Wendy interrupted, âYouâve fallen in love with another woman?â
She stared at Boyce. She knew this man, she wasnât a sentimental person when it came to romantic relationships. He even introduced her to his closest friends right after agreeing to be with her. He was a man with a sense of responsibility.
There must have been another woman he liked so much that it made him break up with her.
âTell me who she is.â Wendy clenched her fists.
Boyce apologized, âIâm sorry.â
âApologies are useless, you hurt my daughter. Listen carefully Boyce Shawn, Iâm not going to let you break up with my daughter. What asshole, we were worried about you while you were missing, but you come back to break up with Wendy? How could you?â
