Matthew walked out of the medical exam room and headed down the hall to return the call, the call was soon connected and Abbott soon picked up the phone as well.
âWhat happened?â Matthew asked.
âI found out the things you let me investigate.â
âWho was it?â
âEmma Bailey, Declanâs sixth oldest sister,â Abbott replied.
Matthew raised his eyebrows slightly, it seemed he wasnât so surprised he already had some guesses in his mind.
âAre you busy, Mr. Nelson? I wish to meet with you.â Abbott stood in front of the window and said as he took a look at the scenery outside.
âWhat happened?â
Abbott said insistently, âI wish to meet with you and speak to you in person.â
Matthew raised his hand and looked at the clock, then said, âI am free only during the night.â
âThen letâs meet in the evening, in my office at the company,â Abbott said.
Matthew noticed something odd in Abbottâs tone of voice, and said, âIâll be there at seven.â He hung up the phone after saying.
He did not return to the exam room immediately, he was thinking about why Abbott wanted to meet with him.
Abbott was behaving unusually.
In the examination roomâ¦
Dolores Flores lowered her head and asked, âThe baby is healthy, doctor.â
The doctor nodded, âThe child is growing very well and is well developed in all aspects, butâ¦â
âBut what?â Dolores suddenly became nervous. She was very afraid of the doctor talking like this, saying that everything was fine at first, and then followed by a comma.
âWeâll wait until Mr. Nelson returns, then Iâll tell you both in more detail, you both must decide what should be done next,â the doctor said seriously.
Dolores frowned, it seemed this was serious to hear the way the doctor spoke, she grabbed the doctorâs sleeve, âCan you tell me first please? If not, I wonât be able to stop worrying.â
The doctor sighed as he saw that she was so anxious, âWhen you gave birth last time, did the doctor tell you not to give birth again?â
Dolores nodded; the doctor did tell her earlier that her body was injured.
âIt is true that you are no longer fit to give birth because the lining of your uterus has become very thin after giving birth last time. There will be no abnormality during the first stage of pregnancy, but as the amniotic fluid increases month by month and the fetus develops faster, the pressure exerted on your uterus will be greater, then you will be in danger. You are now seven months along, I suggest you have labor induced earlier or have a cesarean section when you reach seven and a half months, or at the latest eight months.â
Dolores could not accept it, âMe, I donât feel badâ¦â
The doctor said seriously, âWhen you start feeling bad, youâve already reached the limit. Todayâs medical technologies are very advanced, you donât have to worry about the child not being able to survive after birth. The child is developing very well, there wonât be any big problems, donât worry too much.â
Doloresâ feeling suddenly became more complicated, surely a seven and a half month old fetus had not yet matured.
âDoctor, I want to tell my husband myself.â Dolores didnât know how Matthew would feel when he heard this news.
The doctor nodded, âThe two of you should discuss it first, but you should make a decision as soon as possible because you are already seven months along.â
Dolores nodded, âWe will discuss it properlyâ¦â
âWhat do we want to discuss properly?â Matthew heard Dolores say this when he walked in, so he continued his words and asked.
Dolores immediately smiled, âNothing.â She held her belly and wanted to get up, Matthew walked over and helped her, he asked, âHave you done the checkup?â
Dolores nodded, âThe doctor said everything is fine.â
Matthew looked up at the doctor, it looked like he was asking him.
The doctor looked at Dolores and put the glasses on his nose, then said, âThe child is very healthy.â
The doctor seemed to do this on purpose, Matthew narrowed his eyes, but did not ask in front of Dolores.
He wrapped his arms around Doloresâ waist and said, âLetâs go.â
He took the blue envelope with the examination reports inside and held Dolores to leave the examination room.
Walking out of the hospital and into the car, Matthew helped Dolores buckle her seat belt and then said, âIâm going to the washroom for a while, wait for me in the car.â
Dolores leaned against the back of the seat and nodded slightly.
Matthew did not go to the washroom, but went back to the hospital and sought out the doctor who had helped Dolores for the check-up at the outpatient clinic.
Although Dolores pretended to be fine, he could sense that Dolores was not as relaxed as when she arrived.
The doctor was also not responding calmly, there were doubts in her mind, she could not stop worrying if she did not clear her doubts.
The doctor was surprised to see that Matthew was back.
âHow are my wifeâs test results?â Matthew asked directly.
âThe child is fine, the scores on all aspects were very high, but your wifeâs bodyâ¦â
âHow is her body?â
Matthew asked anxiously, the doctor was interrupted by him when the doctor had not finished speaking.
The doctor opened the record of Doloresâ ultrasound image, the cursor moved to show the thickness of the uterus, âYour wifeâs uterus was injured when she gave birth last time, the condition now remains thinner than a normal pregnant woman. As the amniotic fluid increases month by month and the fetus develops faster, the pressure exerted on the uterus will be greater. I had told your wife that I suggest she give birth earlier, it will be better before seven and a half months, this will reduce her risks. If the uterus ruptures, not to mention the child, she too will be at risk.â
Matthew frowned, it was obvious he couldnât accept this sort of thing happening in a moment, âThe results of the previous checks are pretty good.â
âThe symptoms were not evident previously because the months of pregnancy were still short.â The doctor paused, âI had told your wife about this situation, she had said she would discuss it with you when she returned.â
Matthew lowered his voice and asked, âIs there any other solution?â.
The doctor shook his head, âThe child will increase in size in the motherâs womb and will grow even faster during the last few months, this means that the pressure exerted on the uterus is increasingâ¦â
âIf I were to give birth earlier, will this affect the child?â Matthew had understood, but it would definitely affect the child if she were to give birth when the pregnancy had not gone to term.
âIt will definitely affect the child since it doesnât go to term, but the medical conditions now are good and the condition of the fetus is also very good, the survival rate is above eighty percent,â the doctor said.
âEighty percent?â It was obvious that Matthew was not satisfied with this answer.
However, Doloresâ health was more important, so he turned around and left the hospital.
He decided to seek out other experts in this regard to check again with this issue, then he alone would make the decision.
He pretended not to know anything when he got back to the car, he asked Dolores if she had waited too long for him, Dolores said, âNo.â
âLetâs go home.â
Matthew started the car.
Dolores couldnât stay quiet after hearing the doctorâs words, she didnât want to talk, so she closed her eyes pretending to sleep.
Matthew turned his head to her and looked at her, he pursed his lips tightly, he could deeply understand Doloresâ current feeling.
He was the father, he was also the husband, he could not hurt his son. The same as he could not make any decision that would hurt Dolores.
At this moment, his feeling was so complicated and depressing.
He moved one of his hands to take her, Dolores opened her eyes, Matthew said, âSleep for a while if you are tired, I will wake you up when we get home.â
Dolores nodded and closed her eyes again.
After a while, the car had arrived at the bungalow. As Matthew was about to drive the car into the yard, he saw some people standing in the doorway.
