When she arrived at the entrance to the villa, Wendy parked the car at the curb. She didnât get out of the car immediately, but rolled down the window to take a look at the villa. She checked that Armand was not in B-town and that Matthew was not in as much of a hurry as before.
Had they given up or was there something else?
He gently rubbed his hand on the steering wheel and pondered the possibilities here.
In the end, he couldnât figure out what the key point of the matter was and decided to find out from Dolores and Matthew. She put the car keys in her purse, pushed the door and got out of the car, headed towards the villa.
When he got to the door, he raised his hand and rang the doorbell.
It wasnât long before someone knocked on the door. Coral stood in the doorway and asked, âWho are you looking for?â
âIâm looking for Mr. Nelson and his wife, are they in?â asked Wendy.
âPlease wait a moment while I fill them in.â Coral didnât let her in. She had never seen this woman before, and Matthew had explained to her that you couldnât let anyone in who you didnât know.
After what had happened last time, Amanda was not in a good mood. They feared that, if a stranger came into the house, it would affect her mood.
âOkay, please hurry up. Itâs hot outside.â said Wendy.
Coral nodded and, closing the door, asked, âWhat should I call you?â.
Wendy replied, âMy last name is Miller. You can call me Wendy.â
âOkay.â Coral closed the door and headed upstairs.
There was no one in the house but Dolores with Amanda. Jayden and Kevin had gone to the old house with Andrew, and Matthew wasnât home either. Lucy was at home as a babysitter when the incident occurred and they were to be held responsible. Matthew went to negotiate with Lucyâs family to settle the matter, and only Dolores was home with Amanda.
In the bedroom, Amanda was lying in Doloresâ arms and saying nothing. She just clung to her neck and feared she would disappear.
Even when she was asleep, she clung to the collar.
She woke up several times during the night.
She was very upset inside.
Coral was afraid of alarming Amanda, so she gently pushed open the door and asked in a whisper, âIs Simona asleep?â Dolores said no.
Coral whispered, âThereâs a young lady downstairs, whose last name is Miller, who is looking for her, do you know her, shall I send her in?â
Dolores had not been in a very good mood the last few days. At first, she was worried because Boyceâs whereabouts were unknown, and now she was worried about Amanda, fearing that it would cause her psychological damage and she would be mentally affected. In addition, due to months of pregnancy, she tired easily.
Upon hearing that her last name was Miller, Dolores had not reacted to knowing who it was. After all, they had only met once.
She was half lying on the bed, with Amanda leaning on her arm. Her arm was a little numb and she was moving her body, âDid she say what she was doing here?â.
Coral shook her head, âHe just said he was coming to see you.â
âJust tell him Iâm not available for visitors at the moment,â Dolores said.
Coral said yes, âIâll go downstairs and get rid of her.â
Dolores nodded and Coral left the room. As she closed the door, Dolores asked, âDid she say what her name was?â
âShe said her name was Wendy,â Coral replied.
Wendy? Wasnât she Boyceâs girlfriend? She rubbed her forehead. So it was her. But what was she doing here?
After all, she was Boyceâs girlfriend, and it wasnât good to be shut out.
âCoral, let her in.â
Dolores sat up from the bed, and Coral saw that she was having trouble picking Amanda up, so she reached over and tried to hold her for her. But as soon as she touched her, Amanda wrapped her arms around Doloresâ neck and hugged her tighter, afraid she would let her go.
Dolores patted her back and whispered soothingly, âGood girl, Iâm not letting go. Let go of your hand. I can hardly breathe.â
Amanda loosened up a little, but continued to hold her tightly, afraid that Coral would hug her.
Dolores stroked her daughterâs hair. She knew it was the shock that made her like this, and her mind needed special care. âCoral, you go down first. Iâll go down after.â
Coral nodded.
Dolores patted her daughter, âItâs all over. It wonât happen again.â
Amanda said nothing. She just wrapped her arms around her neck and Dolores kissed her forehead. âWe have a guest downstairs. Iâll take you downstairs, okay?â
Amanda said nothing, but stayed in his arms and didnât go downstairs.
Dolores stroked her head and got up with her in her arms. Amanda was much heavier now. She wrapped her arms around her daughterâs waist and held her over her bulging belly, then cupped her buttocks with her other hand. She just watched the path against her daughterâs shoulder, and when she reached the staircase, she feared she might become unbalanced, so she switched to holding her daughter with one hand and gripping the railing with the other, and climbed down.
Wendy, who had already been invited in by Coral, saw Dolores struggling to hold Amanda and went over to help her, âSimona, your mom is pregnant. Itâs not convenient for her to hold you. Let me hold you.â
With that, she went over to hug Amanda. Dolores said, âNo, she doesnât like to be held by othersâ¦â.
Before she could finish the sentence, Amanda let out a scream.
Wendy hastily pulled her hand away.
Coral, who was pouring water for Wendy, heard the noise and immediately came over and asked, âWhatâs wrong?â
Wendy felt a little embarrassed. She had wanted to help.
âI didnât know she was going to cry.â She explained.
Coral looked at her and reached out to help Dolores, âTake it easy.â
Dolores patted her daughter and told Wendy not to worry, âSheâs scared and doesnât want to be carried by others.â
âSo thatâs it!â Wendy did the same and went over to sit on the couch.
Dolores sat her daughter on her lap and looked at Wendy, âWhy did you have time to come, is something wrong?â
âI havenât seen Armand for two days and I wonder what heâs done?â asked Wendy.
Armand said that when he went to see Boyce he didnât tell the Miller Family that they had found Boyce, he asked her and Matthew not to say anything either.
Armand said that Wendy and Boyce were not right for each other.
She didnât know if it was good to hide it, but she felt that some of Armandâs words made sense. If Wendy really loved Boyce, she should be able to wait for him for a month or two.
Now she thought Armand must be trying to test Wendyâs true feelings for Boyce.
It didnât seem right for her to lie, but she had promised Armand and couldnât back out.
âDidnât you go looking for Boyce?â as she spoke, Dolores looked down.
Taking the opportunity to pet her daughter, she avoided Wendyâs scrutinizing gaze.
Had Armand gone to look for Boyce?
Wendy wondered if she had been mistaken. Were they still trying to find Boyce?
And were they just widening the scope? So she didnât see Armand?
But then Dolores acted as if he was avoiding her.
If she really was looking for Boyce, what was there to avoid?
She looked down, âI know everyone must think Boyce and I arenât suitable because I was married. However, I like him a lot. I missed him once already because I wasnât very astute in judging character. I was very surprised and glad he accepted me then. Now that his whereabouts are unknown, I am very sad and canât sleep at night. He called you sister-in-law, so I think you must know him and know what kind of person he is.â
Dolores said, âI know. He is really a man worth trusting.â
âNow Iâm lost and I donât know what to do. Can you help me with some ideas?â Wendy reached over and grabbed Doloresâ hand, âMy mother told me to give up, but I donât want to. Whether Iâm dead or alive, I want to see him.â
