Keith gaped as he looked at Jasmine. He found it hard to believe that Jasmine would have such a reaction. He hurried to explain, âI⦠I didnât mean anything else, I was just afraid that you wonât be happy if youâre together with himâ¦â
âSo, do you really believe that happiness can be achieved by using money?â. Jasmine cut him off with a witty and sharp reply.
Keith protested indignantly, âIt was Mr. Shawn who told me that, without a stable job, I wonât be able to lead you to a good life. Thatâs the reason I asked you about this.â
He no longer addressed Boyce with familiarity.
No doubt he felt that Boyce had taken the opportunity away from him.
If Boyce hadnât shown up, she would have had a chance.
Jasmine looked at Boyce without saying anything, but her expression indicated that she was trying to validate what Keith had just stated.
Boyce coughed slightly as he admitted truthfully, as he was not one to shy away from his actions, âI did say that.â
Jasmine hooked her arm around his, âWhat you just said, it was all correct.â
Keith didnât know what to say for a moment.
His eyes widened as he tried to comprehend what was going on.
âJasmine, youâre being unfair, why is he the one whoâs always right while Iâm wrong? You are being too mean.â
âHeâs my boyfriend and I like everything about him. Even if thereâs something wrong with him, Iâll still think heâs right. Do you have a problem with what I said?â Jasmine knew she was blatantly biased in this case, but all she wanted to do was protect her man.
This was because Boyce belonged to her.
She truly loved and cherished him.
âJasmine, you have changed. You were never this unreasonable in the past.â Keith found himself becoming more and more rigid in his understanding of her.
She used to be someone gentle and kind, but why did she become like that?
Could it be that love had turned her into someone who no longer knew reason?
âNo matter how great your love for someone is, you cannot discard your true self. As time goes by, he will despise you and then his love will turn to resentment and in the end he will abandon you.â Keith was worried that Jasmine would get hurt.
She was in a very despised position in their relationship and, as time went on, she would slowly be on the receiving end of Boyceâs coldness.
Jasmine took Boyceâs palm and intertwined her fingers with his. She knew Boyce was not an irresponsible person, and she believed him fully, as well as her own judgment.
âIf I never have feelings, I wonât even consider trying hard, but if I love him fully, I will give him everything I have. Even if time proves me wrong about him and he hurts me, Iâll be okay with that too.â Jasmine was looking intently at Boyce, but her words were directed at Keith.
Keith felt incredulous after hearing Jasmineâs logic.
Why wasnât she trying to do the best prevention? Why did she have to fully succumb to her feelings? Why didnât she give herself a little leeway in case something went wrong?
âYou silly girl. People used to say that a woman who is madly in love has zero intelligence. I can finally prove it with my own eyes.â She turned to leave after leaving that sentence, but stopped short after taking a few steps. He turned to look at Boyce and warned, âBe nice to her. If you donât treat her right, I wonât hold back with you. Your position wonât do you any good. I will beat you no matter what the circumstances.â After proclaiming that, he left.
Boyce replied, âI will not give you the opportunity to hit me.â
Keith momentarily froze in his tracks, but he no longer turned and did not answer Boyce. He marched forward again and his somewhat lonely silhouette gradually disappeared into the night.
Jasmine let out a sigh, âActually, I donât know if Iâll regret this. Iâve driven away someone who cares a lot about me.â
Boyce raised his eyebrows and tilted his head at her, âYou regret it now?â.
Jasmine replied solemnly, âA little.â
Boyce bit his lips as an uncomfortable feeling came over him. Was he that untrustworthy?
Jasmine secretly watched the slight changes in his expression with the help of the moonlight and discovered that he really did believe his words.
She let out another sigh, âYouâre no fun at all. I think Iâm regretting falling in love with you.â After saying that, she let go of his hand and turned around to go back to the house.
Boyce chased after her, grabbed her wrist and pulled her whole body into a hug.
âHow can you regret your own decision? You canât be someone who eats her own words.â
Jasmine was hugged too tightly by him to the point where she was starting to catch her breath. Her legs dangled in the air and, with her face to his, she deliberately brought her lips to his chin, âNow Iâm really regretting it. What are you going to do about it?â
