Although Wendy was quick to turn her frown away, Amanda still noticed. She was so glad she had met Wendy earlier, but the smile slowly faded. She asked, âExcuse me, Auntie, arenât you happy?â
If not, why was she frowning?
Wendy was quick to smile, âYes, I am. I like you very much. Whatâs your name?â
âIâm Amanda.â She blinked.
âI see.â Wendy turned to look at Boyce, âWhy did you take her with you?â
âIâm sending her back home, so I came to pick you up on the way,â Boyce said.
Wendy was silent.
She wondered if she, Boyceâs girlfriend, couldnât compare to her friendâs daughter.
âBoyce.â
âYes?â Boyce shot her a look and kept driving. He asked, âWhatâs wrong?â
Wendy suppressed the unhappiness in her heart, âNothing. I never thought your friend was so rich.â
This car was quite expensive.
She had never thought Boyce would have such a rich friend.
Boyce smiled because what Wendy was saying was the truth: Matthew was quite rich.
âUncle Boyce, are you busy today?â Amanda poked her head in, âIf not, can you take me out for some fun?â
Wendy looked back at her, âUncle Boyce is going to work today, how could I take you out for fun?â
Amanda leaned back in the seat and said, âI was asking Uncle Boyce, not you. Why did you answer for him? How rude.â
Wendy looked annoyed immediately. Boyce noticed her expression and his eyes darkened. He said in a gravelly voice, âSheâs just a child.â
Wendy adjusted her expression and said, âI know. I didnât say anything, did I? Why are you being so protective of her? If you want to be protective, you should stand up for me.â
Amanda looked at Wendy from behind, curving her lips. She didnât like Wendy for some reason because she thought Wendy was too much of a hypocrite.
It was obvious that Wendy was angry, but she denied it.
Amanda scoffed inwardly.
âWhat restaurant arenât you planning on going to tonight? I know a very nice one.
Their food is delicious,â Wendy said.
âOkay, then itâs up to you.â
Boyce was pretty easy going in such matters.
Wendy leaned over to him and pressed her head on his shoulder, âYouâre very kind, Boyce.â
She realized that he was indeed a nice man. He had accepted her last night, and today he was going to introduce her to his friends, which was an official announcement, which made her feel quite safe.
When many young men were dating today, girls always challenged their boyfriends, asking them if they dared to show their group photos on WeChat Moments, which was a sign of feeling insecure.
Boyce hadnât gotten used to her approach, feeling quite uncomfortable. However, he didnât push her away. He didnât think he was a nice man, but as long as he told her yes, he had to make it official.
Amanda glared at Wendy with contempt. She really disliked Wendy because she didnât care about her public image and acted so intimate with Boyce even though she was here too.
For some reason, Amanda was disgusted with Wendy. Whatever Wendy did, she really disliked her.
Wendy asked, âBoyce, whereâs your phone?â
âIn my pocket,â Boyce replied.
Wendy reached out to fumble for it. It was in his pants pocket. Once she laid a finger on it. Boyce was quick to pull his hand away from her, âIâll get it for you.â
Wendyâs hand stiffened for a moment. With a smile, she said, âI want to keep my phone number in your phone. Donât be so sensitive.â
Boyce didnât respond. He pulled out his phone and handed it to her.
Wendy took it and asked, âWhatâs your password?â
âNo password.â He hadnât set the password on his phone.
Wendy swiped her finger to unlock the screen. She smiled and asked, âWhat do I name the caller ID, honey?â
Boyce replied casually, âItâs up to you. Anything will do.â
Wendy glanced at him, sensing that his mood was not good, âAre you unhappy?â
âNo,â Boyce replied.
Wendy didnât care, âCaller ID is my name. Do you know the JN restaurant?
Iâll reserve a table.â
Boyce emitted an âhmm.â Soon they arrived at Wendyâs company.
After parking the car, she pushed the door and got out, âBe careful driving. Call the men when youâre free.â Boyce said yes.
As Boyce pulled away, Amanda asked, âUncle Boyce, is this lady your girlfriend?â
Boyce replied, âYes, she is.â
âShe doesnât deserve you,â Amanda said.
In her opinion, Boyce was quite charming but the woman was not. Moreover, she was repulsive.
Boyce was amused, âWhat do you mean by that? Besides, Iâm not an exceptional man.â
âNo, you are. Uncle Boyce, youâre the best,â Amanda replied.
âReally?â
âOf course. Havenât you noticed that the atmosphere turned bad when she was here? Without her, weâre very happy, arenât we, Uncle Boyce?â said Amanda.
Boyce reminisced a bit and had to admit it: when Wendy was in the car, neither of them felt comfortable.
âItâs probably because I havenât gotten to know her that well. Itâll be better when we get to know each other better,â Boyce said.
Amanda shook her head, âUncle Boyce, you called Uncle Armand an idiot. But, you sure are an idiot.â
Boyce laughed angrily, âAmanda, you are very biting. Iâm afraid you wonât have a boyfriend in the future.â
âI donât want a boyfriend. Iâll be with my parents forever.â Amanda lifted her head proudly.
As they arrived at the villa, Boyce pulled her out of the car. As soon as they entered the villa, Cotton pounced on them while wagging his tail.
Amanda struggled, âPut me down.â Boyce put her down.
Amanda held Cotton and rubbed his head. Jayden was drinking tea. Seeing Boyce put his granddaughter back, Jayden asked, âWhy were you asked to put her back?â
âMatthew is busy taking care of something. Iâm leaving now, Uncle Jayden,â Boyce said.
Jayden emitted a âhmm.â He rubbed Amandaâs head and asked worriedly, âIs it hot outside?â
Amanda shook her head. She looked up at him and said, âGrandpa, Iâve seen Uncle Boyceâs girlfriend.â
âOh? Boyce has a girlfriend?â Jayden felt quite surprised but happy for Boyce.
âYes. But I donât like that lady. Sheâs too phony. Uncle Boyce isnât too keen on her either.â
Jayden laughed, lifting his granddaughter up, âYouâre still a child. How do you know what enthusiasm is?â
âHow could I not know? Iâm not stupid.â
Jayden was amused, âSure. Amandaâs so smart, did you go out to your dad or your mom?â
Amanda craned her neck and replied, âI went out to my grandfather.â
Jayden laughed gleefully. Kevin, who was playing chess with Andrew, said, âLook at you.â
Jayden didnât get angry, âIâm very happy. Mind your own business.â
Since there were two children in the village, the two older ones did not feel lonely at all. Sometimes they teased each other and sometimes they argued.
The whole village was filled with the harmony of the family.
WY group.
Leaving the airport. Matthew took Dolores directly to the company.
âYou came to work, but why did you drag me here?â Dolores felt helpless. She asked Boyce to send her daughter back home, so she figured he must be busy with something. To her surprise, he asked her to accompany him to work.
âWhy, arenât you up for it?â Matthew opened a folder.
Dolores closed it for him and took it to read it, âOf course not. Youâre not paying me.â
Matthew wrapped his arms around her waist and let her sit on his lap, âEven I belong to you. Why arenât you still satisfied?â
Dolores flipped through the document in the folder, but didnât understand anything. She closed it and threw it on the desk. She said jokingly, âBetween money and you, I prefer the former more.â
âReally?â
Matthew pinched her thigh under the fabric of her dress.
Dolores let out a hiss of pain, glaring at him, âI just told you the truth. Why, donât you like it?â
âOf course not, does the money make you comfortable?â Matthew approached her with a smile, âHow about I prove to you that Iâm more useful than money.â
Dolores pushed his face, âWeâre in your company. Behave yourself.â
âTell me. do you prefer the money or me?â Matthew didnât stop.
âI prefer you.â Dolores held his face and kissed him, âTell me. Why did you take me into your company?â
Matthew put on a serious countenance, âMost of my companyâs employees did not attend our wedding. I brought you here to meet them.â
They couldnât invite that many people to the wedding, so only the top executives had attended. He wanted to introduce Dolores to the entire company.
Dolores widened her crystal eyes, curving her lips into a smile. Lifting her chin, she said coquettishly, âI see. You brought me here only because you wanted to officially introduce me. Itâs not because youâre reluctant to leave me or because you miss me. Humph!â
