Dolores opened the box, in which there was a round glass aquarium, in which there was an oxygenated plastic bag and two goldfish. They could not be found on the market, quite rare.
It also happened the last time at Charlesâ house. Although they were different fish, it reminded him of what had happened in White City.
Matthew unbuttoned his shirt and went to the bathroom. He seemed to have made a mistake. Only Tiana, the rare girl, would send the fish to the others as a wedding gift.
However, he didnât know they were from Charles instead of Tiana.
Charles was just like Armand. During the wedding, he was sitting in a corner, secretly blessing them.
Dolores turned to look at the man who had entered the bathroom, slowly breathing a sigh of relief.
Matthew was rather mean. She feared he was unhappy. It seemed he didnât believe this gift was from Charles. Otherwise he would be jealous again.
Dolores opened the bag and put the fish in the glass aquarium.
As she threw the bag and box in the trash, a card fell out of the box. She picked it up and opened it. It had Charlesâ handwriting on it: [We canât see each other often, but that doesnât mean weâre not close anymore. We are far away, but that doesnât mean we donât miss each other. Our sincere friendship can cross time and space. I wish you all the best. I wish you happily ever after].
Dolores looked down, her eyelashes trembling. She curved her lips into a smile. Although there were not many words, he expressed his feelings from the front and blessed her at the end. It meant he was trying to let her go.

She truly wished he would fall in love with Tiana.
Closing the card, Dolores put it on the table. Since there were a lot of gifts, Matthew wouldnât notice the card. She also saw Jefferyâs gift. He reached out and took it. Opening the box, he found a photo album.
After hesitating, he opened it. The first picture was a group photo of her family. In it she saw some people she didnât know, who were her grandparents on her motherâs side. They were sitting in chairs and behind them were Jeffery and Jolene. They looked quite young at the time.
She kept flipping through and found the pictures of Jolene, some of them were group pictures with Jeffery. Those photos were not taken in the photo studio, they were taken in everyday life. Through the photos, Dolores could almost tell what was going on at the time.
Jolene and Jeffery were the only children in the Harris Family. Their parents loved each other, so the children also got along very well. In the pictures, Dolores could see that Jefferyâs eyes were full of affection and love as he occasionally looked at his younger sister.
Jeffery couldnât forget Joleneâs death for a long time. It must have been because he loved his little sister too much, so he had done too many horrible things.
Dolores let out a depressed sigh. Closing the album, she half lay down on the couch. Fortunately, things were on the right track.
The water was still running in the bathroom. She felt quite exhausted. She hadnât had a nap all day. As soon as she went to bed, she didnât want to get up. She wanted to nap shortly, but she fell asleep on the couch too soon.
When Matthew came out of the bathroom after showering, he found that Dolores had fallen asleep on the couch. He went over and wanted to take her into the bedroom. Then he saw the album in her hands. He picked it up and glanced through it. He knew everyone in the photo album, who in the past he had cared about and loved very much.
He had enjoyed everything that was supposed to belong to him. Without any emotional fluctuation, he closed the album casually. When he decided to forgive them, he had made up his mind not to get entangled with what had happened in the past. Right now, she just wanted a simple life.
His arms went around her waist and legs. He carried her in his arms.
When they reached the bedroom, he gently placed her on the bed. She was still wearing the dress, the back of which had a zipper. She didnât think it would be comfortable for her to sleep like this. Matthew turned her a little, unzipped the zipper and helped her out of the dress.
Although he had moved gently, Dolores woke up.
Feeling uncomfortable, she squirmed. She opened her eyes and saw Matthew tugging at her dress. Her mind went blank for a moment. Soon, she came back to her senses, pushing him away, âIâm so exhausted today.â
Matthew continued and said, âYes, I know.â
Dolores bit her lower lip and stammered, âSince you know, whyâ¦?â
Matthew stopped her movement, looking at her slowly, âWhat are you thinking about?â.
Judging by her expression, he knew she had thought he was doing something else.
Matthew rubbed his forehead and laughed, âNow itâs our wedding night. I should be doing something, but youâre so exhausted, how could I have the heart to do anything else?â
Dolores smiled, playing cute with him, âWell, please help me put on my nightgown.â
Matthew asked, âThis one?â
There was a delicate box on the nightstand, which was a wedding gift from Theresa: a seductive black lace nightgown.
Dolores glanced at it and shook her head determinedly, âNo way.â
âSo, do you plan to be naked?â Dolores shuddered.
âI just donât want to wear this nightgown, but I didnât intend to be naked while I slept.â She glared at him hatefully.
Matthew pinched her cheek, âYou donât want to wash your face either?â
She hadnât removed her makeup yet. It would not be cozy for her to sleep like this.
Dolores lay on the bed lazily, âI donât want to move at all.â She was exhausted today and didnât want to do anything.
âIâll help you. Or you wonât feel comfortable.â Matthew helped her out of her dress, threw it on the bench at the end of the bed and pulled the quilt to cover her, âIâm going to get some hot water. You should sleep after a foot massage. It will make you less tired.â
Dolores let out a âhmm.â The red quilt was delicately patterned, smooth and soft. She tucked herself in, exposing only her head. She watched Matthew prepare the hot water in the bathroom.
Soon he came out and lifted the quilt. Dolores snuggled in slightly. She wore only lingerie now, but was still not used to exposing her body.
âDonât look at me. Donât laugh.â Matthew was speechless.
âWell, your demands are too much. I canât. Weâre an official couple. You belong to me. I can give you all the time I want. Itâs a husbandâs rights.â
Dolores gagged.
As she teased her, Matthew led her into the bathroom. The tub was full of hot water with rose petals in the water. Looking at Matthew, Dolores wondered since when her husband had become so romantic.
Matthew helped her out of her lingerie, âWhy are you staring at me like that?â
âDid you put the petals in the water?â she asked.
Matthew pointed to all the bottles and jars in the wall cabinet, which held all kinds of shampoos, gels and skin care products. There was a glass jar of fresh petals.
âThis hotel is very thoughtful.â As she made the comment, she felt the coolness on her body. She couldnât help but brace her arms to cover her chest, hiding the seductive scene.
âYou can leave now. I can take the rest off by myself.â She dodged his gaze.
Matthew said in a very low voice, âI can help you bathe.â
âNo, thank you,â Dolores declined.
