Armand had no idea. He had nowhere to go.Where could he go in this state?
âGo to the villa,â Dolores said.
If Theresa saw what she had gotten herself into, she might soften and be willing to be honest with him.
If she was able to accept not having children, they wouldnât all have to suffer.
Armand lowered his head and kept silent.
He didnât know what Dolores was thinking. Did he want Theresa to feel sorry for him?
He didnât want Theresa to see him so entangled.
âNo, there are too many people in the village. Iâll go to Boyce and stay at his house for a few days. Iâll come home when Iâm better. And donât say anything to Theresa about me. I donât want her to feel I canât live without her. Iâ¦Iâm still Armand after today.â
When he finished, he walked away.
Dolores wanted to stop him. She was worried about him.
Matthew grabbed her hand and shook his head, âLeave him alone. Heâll be fine when he gets over this.â
There had to be a transition period.
Dolores heeded him and didnât keep coaxing Armand or calling him.
He was alone with his injuries, like an abandoned child, alone and helpless.
It was worrying.
At the Miller homeâ¦
Officer Miller called Boyce just to investigate his case. Now Declan and Old Mr. Bailey were in trouble and had no time for Boyceâs case. At this juncture, Officer Miller used his connections to get Boyce out of trouble.
It was all originally made up. If Old Mr. Bailey had not been arrested and this incident had not occurred, he could have faked some evidence of Boyceâs bribery to frame him.
Luckily, the Bailey Family went down quickly. They didnât push him too hard. There was a lot to work with.
So it was resolved quickly.
To celebrate, Officer Miller invited Boyce to his house for drinks.
After a few drinks, Officer Miller asked him, âWhen are you and your girlfriend getting married?â
Boyce paused while holding his glass. Then he raised his head, sipped his wine and said, âWe broke up.â
He didnât want to explain. In fact, they had never been in love, and it was all rumored because of that incident.
Last time, they came to Millerâs house as boyfriends in disguise as well.
Officer Miller frowned, âThat girl is nice, isnât she, have you harassed her?â
Wendy listened to her fatherâs words as she brought up the food and said, âHow can Boyce be that kind of person? The fact that they broke up just means they werenât meant to be together.â
Officer Miller looked at his daughter, âYou stay out of this.â
âAll right. Wendyâs right.â Boyce wasnât even sure he was in love with Jasmine.
He was just a little uncomfortable with her sudden disappearance from his world and felt as if he was missing a lot of things.
Wendy sat down next to him, âBoyce, donât drink too much.â She then looked at Officer Miller and said in a complaining tone, âDad, even if youâre happy, you canât make him drink too much.â
Officer Miller raised an eyebrow and said, âIâm your father, arenât I?â.
Wendy nodded, âOf course.â
âWhy do I feel like you act better with Boyce? Why donât you care about me?â Officer Miller glanced at his daughter.
He knew his daughterâs feelings.
That was also why he was trying so hard to help Boyce.
He knew his daughter was divorced and not very likely to be with Boyce, so he had to be very good to Boyce.
If he was willing to be with his daughter, she wouldnât feel too guilty with him.
And maybe Boyce could accept his daughter for her sake.
He was selfish.
No matter how selfless people were, they would still be more or less selfish in the affairs of their loved ones.
After all, she was his daughter. He always wanted to help her.
He was a father. Besides, he only had one daughter.
Boyce was a little drunk and didnât think about what they meant.
Even if he hadnât been drunk, he wouldnât have been able to understand that Officer Miller wanted him to be his son-in-law.
âCome on, letâs have another drink. You should celebrate for being able to save the day this time. As the saying goes, âa disaster survived is a blessing in the makingâ.â
Wendy looked at Officer Miller, âItâs not as bad as you say! Boyce is a lucky man. Heâs always been a good and decent person.â
âWhatever! Come on, letâs drink.â Officer Miller raised his glass.
Boyce also raised his glass because he was embarrassed to turn Officer Miller down. He could feel that he had had too much to drink.
After drinking with Officer Miller, Boyce said, âI canât drink anymore. Iâve had too much to drink.â
Mrs. Miller smiled and said, âThatâs okay. You can sleep here tonight if youâre drunk. We have spare rooms anyway.â
Mrs. Miller knew that Boyce and Jasmine had âbroken upâ and was very kind to Boyce.
She felt her daughter had a chance.
She wanted Boyce to be her son-in-law .
