Chapter 634: Chapter 634

Dolores pressed the answer button, “Hello.”

On the other end a female voice soon hung up.

Dolores glanced at the phone in bewilderment.

Matthew finished washing and looked at her, “Who was that?”.

Dolores shook her head, “I don’t know, she hung up right after she answered.”

Matthew didn’t care, “Wrong number maybe.”

Dolores wasn’t sure but it didn’t sound like it, it sounded like he hung up after hearing her voice. But he didn’t think much of it.

“Breakfast is ready, come down when you’re ready.” Dolores put the phone down on the table and walked out.

Amanda stood in the doorway in her pajamas and messy hair, gave Dolores a look and asked, “Mommy, I heard Daddy’s voice, is Daddy back?”

Dolores said, “Go wash and change, then I’ll tell you…”.

“Daddy!”

She saw Matthew come out of the washroom while Dolores was still talking. She ran to him at once, hugged his leg and looked up, “Dad, when did you get back?”

Matthew bent down to carry her, “Let’s go see if you’ve gained weight.”

“Have I?” Amanda wrapped her arms around his neck.

“Yes.”

She liked to eat and sleep. She had gained weight, but she wasn’t fat, just a little heavier and taller than before.

She looked like an elementary school girl now.

Amanda looked at him, “When did you get back?”.

“Last night,” Matthew replied, “Let me wash you.”

“Sure,” Amanda said, laughing.

She was glad Daddy washed her.

When Matthew walked past Dolores with Amanda in his arms, she said delightedly, “Mommy, Daddy’s going to wash me.”

Dolores shook her head and gave him a light pat on the butt, “What a lazy bug.” Super lazy bug.

Amanda wasn’t upset, she was laughing.

“I’ll go down first,” Dolores said to Matthew.

He nodded and led Amanda to the sink.

Dolores directed Lucy to set the table for breakfast, everyone was awake and it was breakfast time.

As they all sat down one after the other at the dining room table, ready for breakfast, Matthew came down the stairs holding his daughter’s hand.

“When are you back, Dad?” asked Andrew.

It was a question they all wanted to ask.

“Last night,” Matthew said as he set Amanda down in the chair.

He sat down next to Amanda and briefly greeted Jayden and Kevin. “I wasn’t home for a few days due to some problems.”

They didn’t ask further as they knew they couldn’t help much so not asking was wiser.

Jayden trusted Matthew completely, he believed he took each step carefully and wouldn’t act impulsively.

“Let me know if you need anything from me.” Although Jayden had retired, he still had a wide network of contacts.

Their relationship wasn’t close because of Victoria and she had never gone to him no matter what.

Now that the truth had been revealed, he hoped their relationship would improve.

Matthew said yes.

“Let your father and I handle the wedding preparations if you are busy,” Kevin said knowing that he was busy while the wedding preparation needed someone to do the preparations.

Matthew agreed to let Kevin handle everything, he only had one request that the wedding had to be grand.

He wanted to announce to the world that he was married to Dolores.

“Don’t worry,” Kevin continued, “consider it done.”

Matthew went upstairs to change after breakfast while Dolores helped him with his tie. “Don’t you think it’s a bit much?”

“What?” he looked at her.

“The wedding, that jewelry is too flashy…”.

“Did they bring it here?” he asked.

Dolores nodded.

“No jewelry matches you, to me you are the brightest,” he said as he took her hand.

Dolores smiled. All women liked to hear sweet words from their partners, she was no different. “Since when did you become so smarmy, did you do something bad behind my back?” She said flirtatiously.

Is it wrong to be sweet to her?

“Must I prove my love three times a day then?”

Dolores stopped and put the tie around his neck, “You do it.”

Matthew hugged her, “Then come to me three times a day.”

Dolores glared at him, “I’m no match for you, you’re much stronger.”

“I’ll let you win,” Matthew whispered in her ear.

He made her itch and struggle slightly, “Cut the crap.”

“Do it for me then.”

Dolores said yes and continued to do his tie, “Be careful,” she couldn’t contain herself and reminded him.

Even the tamest dog bites out of desperation, let alone humans. They might seek revenge regardless if they found out he was the mastermind.

Matthew nodded.

Dolores sent him out the door after finishing his tie, “I’ll be waiting at home, come back soon.”

Matthew smiled, “I don’t feel like going anymore.”

He wanted to stay home with her, but he had to figure this out to provide them with a safe and stable home.

“Goodbye.”

Dolores watched him as he left.

Although Boyce had nothing to do with it, she knew it was Matthew, so she called him yesterday to make an appointment for today.

The meeting was arranged in the office.

Boyce and Armand were already waiting when Matthew arrived.

Armand was excited, “What good news, who would have guessed that Old Bailey committed so many crimes in his youth?”

He was ecstatic to see the news that Declan had been arrested by the police, he deserved it.

Boyce tapped him lightly with his elbow, “Quiet.”

Armand gave him a look, “I didn’t say anything.”

“You can go on then.” Boyce took a sip of his water.

He set the glass down and stood up when he saw Matthew approach, but Matthew motioned for him to remain seated.

“Why didn’t you say anything to me? I could have helped you,” Boyce said.

Armand continued, “Yeah, don’t you trust us enough?” Matthew ignored him.

His purpose in meeting with Boyce today was to discuss the Baileys’ downfall and Boyce’s opportunity, since the Bailey’s had no time or energy to go against Boyce now.

Everyone who had been close to or dependent on the Bailey’s would do their best to stay as far away as possible now.

This case had a big impact and was an important matter, so everyone tended not to get involved.

Boyce knew Matthew’s intention: “I’ll handle this,” he said.

He had his network of contacts after a long time in his field, before no one dared help because Old Lord Bailey was powerful, but now things were different.
