Dolores groaned and asked, “What are you doing?”

“Do you plan to keep hugging me like this?” Matthew blinked, raised his eyebrow and looked at her passionately.

“You don’t like me hugging you?” Dolores acted as if she didn’t know what he meant.

Matthew wrapped his arms around her waist lightly, not daring to use too much force. “Let’s do something else.”

“Like what?” asked Dolores.

“Something a husband and wife do.” His hands began to rub her waist against her clothes.

Dolores looked up, “I like it when you’re serious.”

Matthew was speechless, “You’re the one seducing me and now she’s rejecting me? She wants to torture him, besides what’s the problem with doing things a husband and wife do?’

Dolores pulled away and sat up, ‘Go shower and go to sleep.’

Matthew didn’t move, lying on the bed, ‘Didn’t you say you don’t care about my sweat?’

“If you can go to sleep without showering, I don’t mind either.” Dolores tucked the blanket under her body and willed herself to sleep.

Matthew sat up and gave her a look, “Shower or not, that’s not the reason I can’t fall asleep.”

Dolores pretended she hadn’t heard him, then told him that Jayden and Kevin were here.

Matthew nodded and went to take a shower.

Dolores stayed awake, waiting for him to finish.

Half an hour later, Matthew came out of the shower with his bathrobe on while Dolores went downstairs to get her pajamas.

“I’m not wearing pajamas,” Matthew said.

Dolores looked at him, “Do you want to sleep like this?”. Matthew nodded.

“Aren’t you ashamed?” She didn’t know what to do with a man like that.

“I have no shame before you,” he said as he rubbed her belly, “Otherwise you wouldn’t be pregnant.”

Dolores was speechless. She threw her pajamas on the bed, “It’s up to you.”

And climbed onto the bed, pretending to be angry. Matthew leaned over and looked at her, “Are you angry?”. Dolores turned her head and remained silent.

“Okay, I’ll put it on.” Matthew picked up the pajamas and stood in front of her, “Can you take off my bathrobe?”

“You are so shameless…” He cut her off using his kiss.

“Are you mad?” Matthew asked as he kissed her.

“Are you going to make it up to me if I get angry?” Dolores asked.

“Yes.” He answered without hesitation as he walked over to the closet and pulled out Dolores’ pajamas.

“Why are you holding my pajamas in your hand?” Dolores was confused.

“I’ll wear it.”

Dolores couldn’t imagine him wearing her pajamas, but she was amused, she smiled, “Cut the crap and don’t rip my pajamas.”

“You’re upset.” Matthew walked over.

Dolores took the pajamas out of his hand, “I wasn’t upset.”

“You lied to me then?” scoffed Matthew.

“It wasn’t intentional, you’re the one who…” Dolores tried to explain herself as Matthew interrupted, “I don’t care, you need to be punished.”

He slipped through the blanket holding her in his arms and pulled off her pajamas.

Dolores bit her lower lips as Matthew lay on top of her.

She was careful because of her pregnancy, it was a long night.

…

The sun rose earlier in the summer, morning light shone through the window, illuminating the room through the gaps in the curtains.

Matthew couldn’t feel the woman in his embrace and there was no one beside him when he stretched his arms reaching for the empty spot beside him, he wasn’t even warm. He opened his eyes and found that Dolores was gone.

Dolores was up early as there were guests, she couldn’t sleep late as the lady of the house. Although Matthew didn’t mention anything about what happened, she knew he must be exhausted these days, so she was careful not to wake him when he got up, she wanted him to get more rest.

Since Coral had retired from the kitchen, Lucy was the one preparing breakfast while Coral took care of the housework.

Dolores was also busy helping in the kitchen since there were guests, they needed to prepare more food, it would be too heavy for one person to do it all.

Breakfast was ready at seven in the morning. Everyone got up one after the other. As usual, Amanda was the last one, she never liked to get out of bed.

Dolores came out, but didn’t see Matthew, ‘Maybe he hasn’t woken up. He was sound asleep last night, he must be exhausted these days.’

She turned to her daughter, she was lying lazily in bed, her hair in disarray.

“Wake up for breakfast,” Dolores said as she put the clothes on the bed, “Wake up and let me get you dressed.”

“I don’t want to change and I don’t want breakfast.” Then she pulled the blanket back over herself.

Dolores tugged at the blanket but gripped it tighter.

Andrew stood by the door, “Leave her alone, she’ll wake up when she gets hungry later.”

Dolores looked at her son, “Have you washed?”. Andrew nodded.

Dolores could do nothing against her daughter, she decided to give up and let her sleep.

Then she went to her bedroom and saw that the man was still in bed. She didn’t wake him up, but went into the washroom and started to pick up his clothes. The suit needed to be sent to the dry cleaners while the others could be washed at home.

Matthew was awake in bed, in fact, he hadn’t slept much these days and slept well last night. He thought she would wake him when she came in, but she didn’t.

So he got up and headed for the sink. Watching her clean the sink, he hugged her from behind, “Have the maid or Coral do it.”

“We have a lot of people at home, they are busy too. The villa is huge and has to be cleaned every day to keep the dust from building up. Some rooms have to be cleaned both upstairs and downstairs, and it’s exhausting. I can take over some chores as a form of exercise, it will help me with childbirth later on.”

She turned to him, “Why didn’t you sleep longer? I didn’t wake you up when I saw you were sound asleep.”

Matthew rested his chin on her shoulder, “I’ve had enough sleep, shall we hire one more maid?”

“No need, are you going out today?” asked Dolores.

Two maids were enough, too many strangers in the house was not comfortable and it was not easy to find a suitable one.

“Yes, but not so early.” She asked Dolores for the cloth and offered to clean the mirror, “Let me clean it for you.”

Dolores didn’t give it to him, “I’m done cleaning. Wash up and go downstairs for breakfast. Since you’re home, you should go downstairs and say hello to your father and uncle, don’t stay in the room.”

Matthew gave her a kiss on the cheek and said, “Okay.”

As he washed up, the phone he kept on the side table rang. Dolores picked it up and saw that it was an unknown number. She didn’t answer, but handed it to Matthew, who was at the sink, “Someone called.”

“Answer it for me,” Matthew said as he washed his face.

Dolores pressed the answer button, “Hello.”
