Matthew Nelson spoke up when the call connected, he wanted me to forward all the investigated information about the crimes Declan Bailey had committed.
Boyce Shawn picked up, âUnderstood.â
He left everything at home instead of at the bureau to make sure no one found out, it was safer that way.
He hung up after finishing the conversation and looked at Wendy, âI still have some errands to run, you can go home first.â
Wendy said, âOkay then.â
She got into her car and buckled her seat belt, then rolled down the window and assured Boyce, âAs for that matter, my dad will do everything he can to help you, and I really trust you.â
Boyce had no intention of bothering Officer Miller with his problems, and he was not used to Wendyâs sudden surge of enthusiasm.
Out of politeness, he thanked her.
After all, someone cared about him.
He waited for Wendy to leave and hailed a cab on the side of the road to take him home.
After retrieving the important documents from his home, he called Matthew to find out where he was so he could send them to him, but Matthew advised him to mail them over the Internet.
Without hesitation, Boyce relayed to him all the details he possessed about the matter.
The next two days passed quietly, with no sudden movements. Boyce was also not allowed to work, as he was under investigation.
Matthew had also not returned to the villa for the last two days, even Dolores Flores did not know what he was busy with. He only called her to tell her that he had some business to take care of and would not be back for another two nights, which worried her.
Although the days that passed seemed serene, there were other things that happened. Jayden Nelson and Kevin Forbis arrived back in City B, Theresa Gordonâs wound had healed much better and she was able to walk on her feet again. She was anxious to get back to City C, but only when Jayden and Kevin returned did she learn that Dolores and Matthew were getting married.

She decided to stay a little longer, until Dolores and Matthewâs wedding was over.
âWhat are you going to wear?â asked Theresa.
Dolores froze for a moment, she was slow to what Theresa had asked her, âWhat do you mean by that?â
âYour wedding, are you going to be in a wedding dress or are you going to wear a Chinese style dress?â Theresa curled up on the couch and gnawed on an apple.
Suddenly, Dolores replied, âI donât know, sheâs setting it all up.â Theresa was speechless.
âArenât you looking forward to your own wedding?â. Theresa expressed her confusion. Wasnât it every womanâs dream to have a romantic and memorable wedding of her own?
Why didnât she seem excited at all?
It wasnât that Dolores was unhappy or disliked getting married. In fact, because she had been through so much, everything had calmed down for her.
âIf this were seven years ago, Iâd be so excited I wouldnât be able to sleep a wink. Marriage is a very important thing for a woman, but look, he and I have already lived as a married couple all these years. Marriage now is just to show and advertise our relationship to the outside world,â Dolores said.
Theresa thought better of it and realized what she was saying. Dolores and Matthew were already living together as a married couple, not to mention they were also the father and mother of two children. Theresa looked down at her belly and touched it.
âThe two of you really look like an old couple, already on your third child.â
âWhy hasnât he asked me to design your wedding wardrobe, is it that he doesnât think highly of me? Are my designs bad for him?â Theresa had wanted to be Doloresâ designer.
Dolores looked at her, âI guess he didnât mean to upset you, and youâre still hurt. I told him to take full responsibility for this.â
âOkay.â Theresa looked at the time, âWhy arenât the two boys back yet?â.
After Jayden and Kevin had rested for a day since coming home, they took the two boys out for a walk today. It was noon when they left, and now it was almost evening.
âWill they be back for dinner? Itâs almost six oâclock,â Theresa asked.
Dolores didnât hear; they left her no note as to whether they would be back in time for dinner.
âYour husband hasnât been home for two days, has anything happened?â asked Theresa again.
Dolores didnât think too much about this because she knew very well that even if something did happen, she wouldnât be much help. All she could do was to take good care of the family so she wouldnât have to worry. Thatâs why she decided not to pursue the issue.
In fact, even if she didnât ask, she could predict that it had something to do with Declan Bailey. After all, this was the one issue that hadnât been fully resolved.
What he didnât expect was that Declan would frame Boyce, and that Boyce was being investigated.
That night, the two children only came home after dinner, Matthew didnât return either. Only Dolores and Theresa had dinner together.
Theresa said, âNormally the two children would be home. It feels so quiet without them around.â
Dolores also felt this villa was huge, but it was completely taken care of now that Jayden and Kevin were home. The two boys had moved into their rooms upstairs, so they were given the empty downstairs bedrooms to stay in.
Initially, Jayden and Kevin planned to move back into the old house, but Dolores feared that Jayden would be affected by Victoria Forbisâ presence. In the end, she let them live in the villa. With the frequent company of children, the two elders would feel less lonely.
âDid you call Uncle?â Theresa ate a stewed eggplant.
It was Doloresâ wedding and Oscar Adams had to be notified.
Dolores spoke up, âIâll call after dinner.â
Since a caretaker had been hired, the housework became much more bearable. The two children had also grown up, it was no longer necessary for Dolores to bathe them and help with other things. Although she was more relaxed now, she felt more tired as the days went by.
Perhaps it was due to the growing months of her pregnancy.
After showering, she lay down on the bed and tried to call Oscar, but to no avail.
She waited a while before calling him again, but the line was still busy and the call could not connect.
He frowned and wondered why the call was not answered, then hung up the phone and planned to call back tomorrow. It was possible he had bad signal in his area today.
She slept later during the two nights Matthew was gone, she couldnât get used to having no one by her side.
Although she didnât want to be a bother to him, Dolores couldnât help but worry for his safety. She feared that she had encountered some danger at work.
No matter how long she spent in bed, she couldnât fall asleep. She wanted so badly to call him, but in the end she hesitated because she didnât want to disturb him.
She tossed and turned in bed until the wee hours, when she finally fell asleep, and woke up very early in the morning.
However, the day that had just dawned was not normal.
Something big had happened in B-town.
Many people had gathered at the entrance to City Hall. These people did not come from B-Town, but were rural people who had come from the mountainous areas.
The elderly and most of the women were demanding an explanation from the government and even holding placards.
It did not seem like an incident that happened overnight, someone must have planned this demonstration. This group of people tiptoed into B-town and gathered in front of City Hall, even the media only reported this event when they heard about it first hand.
A major media channel conducted a live interview at the scene, and a reporter was holding a microphone in her hand while interviewing someone.
âExcuse me, where are you from and why are you causing trouble here?â
The interviewee was a middle-aged woman in her forties. The woman was thin and had dark skin, two children were standing next to her. The woman spoke in a strong local accent, âWe are not causing any trouble.â
The reporter asked, âThen what are you doing here?â.
The middle-aged woman explained, âWe just want an explanation.â
The reporter asked again, âWhat explanation are you looking for?â.
The middle-aged woman replied, âI am from province X, county N, and my husband was an ordinary bricklayer. He died in a construction collapse fifteen years ago.â
The reporter had a puzzled expression, âAn accident that happened fifteen years ago should have been settled by the party responsible for the matter exactly fifteen years earlier, why have you come here?â
âItâs because this was resolved fifteen years ago,â replied this time the girl standing next to the middle-aged woman. She gave the impression of being sixteen or seventeen years old. She was only one or two when her father died.
âThe reason we are here is to inform the government of a major official who visited County N fifteen years ago.â
The reporter passed the microphone to the girl who was speaking, âWhat the hell is going on, can you tell us why you want to report this officer?â
