The maid opened the door and saw two women who appeared to be mother and daughter. âWho are you looking for?â she asked.
âIs my sister here?â asked Tiana.
âWho are you?â
âIâm Tiana Meyer, please let them know,â Tiana said kindly.
The maid looked at Dolores, âItâs someone named Meyer.â
Dolores was surprised to see Mrs. Meyer and Tiana, surprised that they came to visit.
âCharles disappeared,â Tiana sobbed.
Dolores was stunned, âHow and why?â
âTiana said Charles sent someone, is that true?â Mrs. Meyer asked.
Tiana didnât understand what had happened, but Mrs. Meyer did.
It was no secret that Declan and Matthew were not on good terms now, the person he tried to hide was desperately missing, of course, he would be furious. She guessed he knew Charles was involved, so she kidnapped him and then asked him about the man.
She promised to hide the man for Declan and it was her responsibility now that he was missing. She knew she had to find the missing man before approaching Declan to free Charles.
gαâηÏνðâsâ¤com brings you fresh updates Charles told Tiana not to mention that he had sent someone, but Tiana became nervous when Charles disappeared. Under pressure from Mrs. Meyer, she told him that the person Declan was looking for was sent here.
That was the reason for her visit.
âTalk to me,â Matthew said above their conversation as he approached, so he could guess the whole story.
Mrs. Meyer was direct, âDeclan asked me to hide that person, at first I wanted to refuse, but Charles said he had a place for him, so I agreed. I never expected him to send him here. I think Declan is angry and has kidnapped him. My intention is simple, give me the man in exchange for Charles.â
It was her fault, she knew Charles and Matthew were friends, but she didnât know they were so close.
âHe is a criminal, he must be sent to the police, not to other people. Mrs. Meyer should understand since her husband is an expert in the field, does she want to break the law and embarrass her husband?â said Armand coolly.
He was afraid Matthew would turn him in to Mrs. Meyer, he had almost beaten him to death if Boyce hadnât stopped him.
Mrs. Meyer was so sorry that she agreed to help Declan. She didnât care much, she just wanted to get Charles back and cut ties with Declan after that.
âCharles sees you two as friends, now heâs captured, arenât you supposed to try to save him?â why did she sound like she wouldnât turn him in?
âIâm sorry, weâre not close and weâre not friends with him, he had another intention when he sent the manâ¦â
âArmand.â Dolores stopped Armand. Tiana was here and she had married Charles, regardless of his intention to send the man, he was not to mention it in front of the Meyers. It would hurt Tiana and affect Charlesâ relationship with the Meyers.
He turned to Matthew, âWhat do you think?â
Matthew asked her to go back inside, âGo in first, Iâll be right back.â
She nodded, âCall me no matter what.â
Matthew nodded. They gathered to enjoy dinner tonight, but what had happened with Charles spoiled their appetites.
âLetâs talk somewhere else.â Matthew was still in his casual clothes as he didnât plan to go very far, he just didnât like to discuss this at home.
They sat in the garden in front of the villa.
Matthew pulled Boyce aside, âHas he been questioned?â.
âHe was badly injured by Armand and is still in a coma,â Boyce said.
âFind a way to wake him up for questioning.â Regardless of whether John knew about Declan, he might know his secret.
âIâll go right now,â Boyce said as he turned away.
They had some shreds of evidence in their hands in the process of investigating Declan, however, the Baileyâs were a pretty powerful family, they needed evidence that would make them collapse immediately, or else they would lose.
The Old Bailey had not retired, while Declanâs sisters had married into powerful families as well, like Mrs. Meyer, her husband Alan Meyer was a powerful man. Although he claimed to be on the side of justice, his wife was one of the Meyers.
They would surely meet if anything happened to Declan.
Therefore, it was unwise for them to act impulsively now.
Matthew approached them after Boyce left, âIâll send him tomorrow.â Mrs. Meyer was in a hurry, she feared Declan might hurt Charles.
âWhy not today?â Mrs. Meyer asked.
âArenât you Declanâs sister? How could you kidnap your son-in-law without his permission? Youâre here today because of your brother, arenât you?â said Boyce sarcastically, despising her hypocritical look.
Thinking her visit today was about her brother.
Little did she know that Declan had completely ignored her as a sister and was still kidnapping Charles regardless.
Of course, Mrs. Meyer asked Declan to release Charles, but Declan refused, âIf you want Charles, you have to bring John to me, you promised to keep him hidden, but you lost him the next day. You have to answer to me or your son-in-law will not have a pleasant life here,â Declan told her.
Mrs. Meyerâs face stiffened, âEverything about the Meyer Family is not a secret, we are considered outsiders and we donât have much love for the Meyers. I wouldnât have intervened if you hadnât come to me for help. But now you have told me to my face to trade Charles for your man. Charles sent you the man and now heâs in trouble for this, donât you have to do something to help instead of disregarding his safety?â
âArenât they friends, why didnât they seem like friends?â thought Mrs. Meyer.
âDo you have any idea what heâs done?â Armand couldnât control his anger thinking about returning John to Declan. âI sincerely hope his daughter has a quiet life, forever.â
Mrs. Meyer frowned, âWhat does that even mean?â
Matthew rubbed his eyebrows together and said quietly, âArmand, you should go.â
âButâ¦â
âGo now. Iâll take care of this, you being impulsive will only make things worse!â Matthewâs voice became stern.
Armand reluctantly walked away.
âGo get him from the police station tomorrow morning.â Matthew wasnât going to keep holding him back any longer, he didnât want anything to happen to Charles as well. He was the one who sent John anyway even if it was for Doloresâ sake.
Dolores would feel guilty if anything happened to him because of this, Matthew didnât want that to happen.
And they had planned for it, even if John was returned to Declan, he might not survive.
Mrs. Meyer said after some thought, âAll right then, itâs only less than twenty hours until morning.â
They could wait.
âCome on, Tiana.â
Mrs. Meyer tugged her daughter.
Tiana shook her head, âPlease come back first mom, I want to talk to Dolores.â
