Although Charles had not married, he was a physiologically normal man. Looking at Matthew, he narrowed his eyes and seemed to guess something. He said nothing more, except that he said in a quiet voice, âTiana, come on.â
Tiana obediently pushed her wheelchair, turned around and headed for the car that was parked by the road.
It was clear to Charles that he should not act like this. He knew clearly that there was no chance between him and Dolores since she was married, but still he could not control his emotions.
He wanted to get close to her and see her.
He also hated this aspect of himself.
âTiana, shall we go?â he didnât want to go back, let alone face the Meyer Family. He just wanted to calm himself down.
Tiana agreed. Pushing her wheelchair, she walked to the side of the road, while Tom drove the car and slowly followed them.
âCharles, are you in a bad mood?â Although Tiana was not smart, she could sense Charlesâ depression at that moment.
Charles looked straight ahead without concentrating and asked, âTiana, do you love me?â
Tiana felt it very strange, why did he ask this question again?
âI have told you before. I love you.â
Charles asked after a while of silence, âIf you canât love me, what are you going to do?â.
âWhy canât I love you?â Tiana could not understand this question, feeling it very strange.
Charles patiently explained it to her, âIf you canât love me for some reasons, what will you do?â.
Tiana finally understood. She pondered for a while and then replied, âIf I canât love you, I think I will become very sad. But I will try my best to control myself not to think of you and love you. It is too painful if I love you and yet cannot have you. I would rather forget you than suffer the pain.â
Charles gave her a look, âWho said you are not intelligent? You are smarter and more thoughtful than anyone.â
Tiana laughed, âYouâre the first one to praise me as a smart person.â
Charles held out his hand, âTiana, come here.â
Tiana obediently walked over to him and squatted down in front of him. She placed her hands on his thighs, looked up at him and said earnestly, âYou, Charles, I donât want to see you unhappy. Tell me, please, how can I please you?â
Charles asked, still with a smile on his face, âDo I look unhappy to you?â
âYou are unhappy.â Tiana looked into his eyes, âYou have a smile on your face, but your eyes are crying.â
Charles was silent and stared at her silently. After a long while, he pulled her into his arms and stroked her hair, âTiana, I feel so distressed, but I donât know what to do.â
âCan you try to love me?â Tiana raised her head and repeated the words, âCan you try to love me?â.
Charles was stunned and then replied, âI have fallen in love with you.â
Tiana shook her head, âYou donât love me. There is no trace of love in your eyes when you look at me. But your eyes sparkle when you look at Dolores.â
Charles was speechless.
Tiana lifted his hand and put it to her face. She bowed her head and gently rubbed her cheek against his palm, âI will work harder so that there are lights in your eyes when you are looking at me. That way, you wonât feel distressed anymore.â
Charles was used to wearing a smile on his face, but now he no longer held it. He reached out to touch her face, âIâll try my best.â
He would try to forget Dolores and strive to fall in love with the one he was meant to love.
âLetâs go home,â Charles said softly.
Tiana agreed, asked Tom to stop the car and led Charles into the car.
Charles originally intended to live in a hotel after arriving in B-town, but Tianaâs mother wouldnât let him no matter how much he said and insisted on letting him live at home.
The car soon arrived at the community where the Meyer Family lived and pulled into the driveway. This community never allowed cars that did not belong to their owners to enter. Tom got Charles out of the car and Tiana got out of the car as well.
âGo back to rest,â Charles said to Tom.
âAll right. Iâll come here tomorrow morning.â said Tom.
Charles responded with a nasal sound. Seeing Tom leave, Tiana pushed Charles toward the community.
As they walked, Tiana spoke to Charles, âDolores is so lucky.â
âHuh? Why do you say that?â Charles was curious. She only dined at home, how did he know Dolores had a happy life?
âIs it because her husband is so good to her?â asked Charles.
Tiana shook her head and then nodded quickly, âI donât know if her husband is good to her. I say that because of her son and daughter. They are so handsome and cute.â
âCharles, will we have a baby in the future? Many couples have a baby after they get married. We got married too, does that mean Iâll have a baby soon too?â There was a trace of anticipation in her tone of voice.
Charles, ââ¦â
âTiana, Iâm sleepy. Letâs hurry home, okay?â
Charles could not answer this question, nor could he explain it.
Tiana was very obedient. She said nothing more and pushed him back home. When they arrived home, they found that Tianaâs parents were in the living room, apparently talking about something. They both had somber expressions.
Seeing that their daughter and daughter-in-law had returned, they tacitly interrupted the conversation. Maisy waved for her daughter to come closer. Tiana approached and sat obediently, âMama.â
Maisy rubbed her long hair and asked, âWhat did you eat out?â.
Tiana told her that she had dined at Doloresâ house, âHer maid is good at cooking and the dishes she cooked were very tasty. Dolores has two sons and they are very handsome.â
Maisy looked away from Charles and asked, âChildren?â
Hadnât she been pregnant some time ago?
Where were the children from?
Charles explained, âShe gave birth to two sons before.â
Maisy soon understood. But she was confused the next moment to think they had two children. She asked, âDid they get married?â
Why didnât they hold a wedding ceremony?
âThey got married. As to why they didnât hold a wedding ceremony, Iâm not clear on that either.â Charles didnât say much about this. In front of Maisy, he pretended to be Doloresâs friend. So it will be abnormal for him to know too much about Doloresâs situation.
Maisy nodded, seeming to understand something. She patted her daughter, âYou two will be going to bed early.â
Tiana smiled, got up and headed for the bedroom. But Charles didnât move; instead, he glanced at Maisy and Alan, âHave you two had any trouble? They seemed to have quarreled just now.â
Alan was still giving an awful look. He looked like he was very upset.
Maisy let out a long sigh. Thinking Charles was no stranger, she said, âYou know my situation too. I have a brother and we rarely get in touch with the usual ties. But suddenly he has come looking for me, saying that one of his friends has been injured and hoping that he can let his friend stay at my house for several daysâ¦â
âFriend? Didnât you see the news several days ago? Donât you know who that person is?â
Before Maisy could finish her words, Alan angrily interrupted her, âHe never comes to us unless itâs to ask for help. He didnât show you any respect in the usual times, but now, when he needs your help, he tries to use his relationship and call you sister. She even wanted to hide a live person in our house, what does she think our house is?â.
Alan snorted coldly, âDrop the idea of this matter. Iâm not going to accept it.â
Although Maisy was unwilling to do so, since Declan had begged her to, she had no choice. Although she didnât have many feelings for this brother and rarely contacted him, since she had asked him personally for help, it seemed inappropriate to refuse. After all, they were brothers.
Thinking about this, Maisy couldnât help but let out a sigh. She didnât know what to do.
âWho is this person? Maybe I can help you?â Charles asked.
