Armand looked at the man and got the water immediately. He opened the lid and passed it to Theresa. He called to her softly, “Theresa, wake up. Have some water.”

Theresa didn’t respond at all. No matter how much Armand called her name or shook her body, she was still comatose.

The man in the camouflage uniform reminded her, “Pinch the area between your nose and upper lip.”

Armand passed the water bottle to his other hand and pinched it.

After a moment, Theresa woke up, but she still looked quite weak, as if she was going to pass out again. Armand put the water next to her lips and whispered, “Drink some water.”

Theresa’s parched lips puckered. As soon as they parted, the surface skin cracked and oozed blood. Her throat was parched as if on fire. She had burned all the water from her body. Suddenly, she tasted the water and began to gulp it down.

They could hear the sounds as she was gulping.

There was only half a bottle, which couldn’t completely quench her thirst, but she had some energy.

“We came here in groups of two. When I fell here, my colleague was beside me, so I’m sure he will inform the others to rescue us soon. Please don’t worry,” said the man in the camouflage uniform.

At the sound of his voice, Theresa turned slowly, only to find another man there. Now she understood where the water was coming from.

“We’ll be rescued. Hold on!” said Armand excitedly as he held her.

Theresa blinked. Her curled eyelashes trembled slightly. Through the dim light, she could tell how excited Armand was.

Remembering what he had told her, she gently lowered her eyelids.

At that moment, someone was shouting at the entrance to the cave, asking if anyone was down there.

The man in the camouflage uniform stood up and looked up to speak to the entrance again. Soon, a rope was thrown down from above. They were told to pull the rope when they could catch it, so that the people above would know the length and stop throwing it down.

The man in the camouflage uniform was waiting there. Soon, the rope was thrown down. He looked at Armand and said, “You guys go up first.” Armand grabbed the shirt he had taken off to put on Theresa. When she was decent, he carried her up to the entrance.

The man in the camouflage uniform took the paper and turned to Armand. He checked on Theresa and said, “She’s pretty weak. When they bring her up, she’ll have a hard time taking care of herself. Why don’t you two go up together?” Armand nodded his head.

The man tied the rope around Armand’s waist and reminded him, “Hold your back to the rock as tightly as possible. Put it in front of you to reduce the wounds on it.”

Theresa had wounds on her feet and legs and appeared quite weak. Obviously, she had to be attended to. Otherwise, her condition would worsen.

Armand understood. The man in the camouflage uniform pulled the rope to alert those above that they were ready.

There were only three people upstairs. As they were pulling, they sensed that there must be more than one person on the rope, so they called two others to pull them up together.

Armand’s upper body was bare. When his back brushed against the rock, he heard the faint sounds. At first it was fine. However, when it lasted too long, he felt the burning pain in his back.

He furrowed his eyebrows slightly and didn’t pay much attention. All he wanted was to go upstairs and send Theresa to the hospital as soon as possible.

After a while, the people upstairs saw them. They moved the rope toward the center so Armand’s back wouldn’t rub against the rock again. Boyce watched them being hauled up. When they reached the entrance, he reached down to grab Theresa from Armand’s arms. “Let me take care of her.”

Armand gave him a look. Silently, he passed Theresa to Boyce.

With the help of the others, Armand climbed up from the cave entrance. On the ground, he hurriedly untied the rope. The team leader said, “Let me do it.

You can’t do it.”

They had special ways of tying the rope, so ordinary people could not untie it.

The knot was quite unique.

Armand urged him anxiously, “Please hurry.”

The leader did not speak. He only showed Armand how quick he would be with his practical action. Once the rope was untied, Armand approached Boyce and held out his hand. “Give it to me.”

Boyce shot him a glance, only to find that he was also weak. There was some distance from there to the car, so he feared Armand wouldn’t make it by carrying Theresa in his arms.

“I can do it.” Armand knew why Boyce was hesitating.

Given what he said, Boyce couldn’t insist. Right now, Armand had to act right in Theresa’s presence. As Boyce was about to return Theresa to Armand, she said in a weak tone, “Could you take me, please?” She gave Boyce a look.

Boyce looked at Armand immediately. When he offered to carry Theresa earlier at the cave entrance, it was because Theresa could not lie on the ground and Armand must have needed someone else to help carry her.

At that point, Theresa was not willing to let Armand carry her. Boyce feared that Armand would misunderstand her.

Armand pressed his lips together in silence.

“Could you?” asked Theresa again as she looked at Boyce.

She was too weak to go out alone, so she had to rely on someone else.

As they brought them upstairs, she could sense that Armand must be hurt. She didn’t want to owe him any favors, even though he had confessed his love to her before. She never thought of reconciling with him.

For her, bygones were bygones.

Besides, her health…

“Mr. Shawn, if you’re not willing, please put me down. I’ll go by myself,” Theresa said stubbornly.

“Go ahead, take her,” Armand said before Boyce responded.

Boyce pressed his lips together and glanced at Armand, knowing Armand didn’t want to upset Theresa. After all, they were both hurt. Boyce didn’t want to waste time. He told the team leader, “I’ll leave everything here for you.”

After that, he carried Theresa, heading toward the back.

Armand feared that there would be branches in the way, making it difficult for Boyce to move forward. He took the initiative to walk ahead and pushed the branches aside for them.

Theresa leaned on Boyce’s shoulder, half crouched. Armand walked ahead of them, so she could see the wounds on his back. His back was full of friction wounds, some of which were almost bleeding. Some had turned purple and reddish.

She felt slightly moved and sympathized with him. However, she was not soft enough to reconcile with him.

She did not think she would be with him again for the rest of her life.

She closed her eyes, ceasing to watch him.

It wasn’t a long walk, but it was difficult to walk in the forest. After almost an hour, they finally came out of it.

Armand recognized Boyce’s car and went over to open the door, so Boyce could get Theresa in.

As soon as Boyce wanted to put her down, Armand said, “Give me the key.

I’ll drive.”

He was afraid Theresa would turn him down, which would waste his time again.

Boyce reached down and put Theresa in the back seat and handed the car key to Armand. The latter went to the driver’s seat with the key, opened the door and sat down.

Boyce sat in the back seat, taking care of Theresa. From the back of the car seat he pulled out two bottles of mineral water. He handed one to Armand. “Drink some water.”

Armand didn’t turn his back. “Give it to Theresa, please.”

Boyce held out his hand. “There’s plenty.”

They had been trapped in the cave for a long time. He was sure they were both thirsty.

Knowing that Armand took the bottle. Opening the cap, he gulped down the water. In a minute, he finished drinking the whole bottle. He threw the empty bottle out the car window and started the engine.

Boyce, in the back seat, popped the cap off the bottle and handed it to Theresa. “Have some, please.”

Theresa reached up and took it.

Back at the villa.

Dolores was up late this morning. She was probably too sleepy or lying next to Matthew, she always slept soundly.

When she got up, Matthew had already left the villa. After breakfast, Amanda said Cotton’s coat was dirty, so she took Coral out into the yard to give Cotton a bath. She also asked Coral to take her to buy the dog’s food.

Coral agreed with a smile.

Dolores was standing in front of the French window, watching Coral bathe the dog with the two children. She couldn’t help but pucker her lips.

She turned around and picked up the phone, wanting to call Oscar to see how he was doing. The television was on. She picked up the remote to turn it off, only to find a news item and unexpectedly saw the news man.
