âLetâs go back to B-town, an urgent matter has occurred at the company.â Matthew didnât talk about Theresaâs business. Maybe he was afraid that Armandâs emotion would be unstable after learning about Theresaâs affair.
Besides, he was still driving now.
It would be too dangerous to tell him right now.
Armand snorted, âHow urgent would the company business be? Was Abbott still there keeping watch? Do you think the company will have to close tomorrow if you canât get back today?â
Soon, he changed to an understanding look in an instant and spoke with a smile, âI think youâre just afraid Dolores will leave again and thatâs why you want to take her back immediately, right?â
Matthew looked at him and said coldly, âPull over at the rest area later, Iâll drive later.â
âIâm not tired yet.â He drove alone when he arrived and didnât feel so tired.
âYouâre too talkative. Iâm afraid weâre not sure.â
Matthew put his head down and texted Boyce. He had asked Boyce to go to C-Town and investigate Declan and wondered if any leads had been found there.
After sending the message, he looked back. The two children were sleeping soundly as Dolores turned her head to look out the window. She didnât look well, she must have been worried about Theresa.
It was not a good time to say it clearly in front of Armand. So, she simply advised him gently, âIâll take care of all that business. You go to sleep for a while and donât think too much.â
How could he not worry? Theresa was badly hurt before that. Not only that, but she had even encountered something like that just on her way back. How could he calm down and how could he not worry about her?
However, not wanting to cause Matthew any trouble, she just answered him and then closed her eyes and pretended to sleep.
Matthew sighed and regained his gaze. He knew she was faking it.
However, he had nothing more to say and persuade her to relax.
He glanced down at his phone and found that Boyce still hadnât texted him back. She looked up and leaned her body against the back of the chair and then pressed lightly on her temples.
âAre you hiding something from me?â asked Armand. Why did he get the feeling that something was up and that was why Matthew was in a hurry to get back?
Matthew didnât turn his back on him. He merely spoke casually, âConcentrate on driving.â
Armand was speechless.
âIâm your full-time driver and you treat me like this? Canât you treat me more politely?â He really wasnât taking him seriously.
Matthew opened his eyes and then slowly gave a casual glance, âArmand, do you still want Theresa back?â
âOf course.â Armand almost spat those words out.
The likelihood of him getting her back was very small.
Dolores, who was sitting in the back, became involuntarily nervous when she heard they were talking about Theresa. She was afraid that Matthew would tell Armand about Theresaâs kidnapping.
She was also afraid that Armand would know about it now and would only get nervous and worried about it after learning of Theresaâs condition.
Besides, it was still hours before they were due to return to B-town.
Instead of making him nervous, he thought it was better to tell them after they got back. Then, we could discuss and come up with a plan together.
âYou have a plan?â asked Armand with some excitement.
âYes.â
Armand asked impatiently, âWhatâs the plan?â
âShut up, no woman likes a nagging man.â
Armand was speechless.
Matthew was bullying him, how could he say he was a nagging man?
âTell me plainly, how come I was described as a nagging man?â
At that moment, Armandâs voice was drowned out by the ringing of the phone.
Matthew thought it was Boyce. He pulled out his phone and then discovered that it was not his but Doloresâ. It was because he had previously put Doloresâ phone in his pocket. He looked at the callerâs name that appeared on the screen and showed the name âOscarâ.
He knew what kind of people surrounded Dolores and he knew it well.
This Oscar had to be the man she had met in C-Town.
Dolores was familiar with the sound of her own phone ringing. She had just opened her eyes when it rang. She nervously asked, âWho is this?â She thought Declan was calling her again.
Matthew handed her his phone, âSee for yourself.â
Dolores reached out and took the phone from him. The screen showed the name âOscar.â She pressed the answer button. Then, she held the phone to her ear and answered the call. Oscarâs voice came on immediately.
âCan you reach Theresa? She hasnât been in the store all day and I canât reach her either.â
Dolores calmed her excitement and said quietly, âDonât worry, I know where she is. We wonât be going back for now. Please help me keep watch there.â
âIâm glad to know. She disappeared suddenly and I canât locate her, so I was quite worried. So when will everyone be back?â Oscar asked.
Dolores wasnât sure when she would be back either, âIâm not sure yet. Iâll call you in a couple of days.â
âThatâs great. Donât worry about this part, Iâll watch out for you. You have to take care of you and your two kids too.â Oscar instructed her.
Dolores replied and said, âOkay.â
âThen Iâll hang up.â
Dolores answered with a âhmmâ and then hung up the phone.
Just as she was about to put her phone away, Matthew reached out his hand to her, âGive me your phone.â
Dolores looked at him, âItâs not in my best interest for you to keep my phone.
Iâll let you answer the call if the person, Declan calls me.â She knew what Matthew was worried about.
She was afraid Declan would call her back. She had never met the person and didnât want to deal with him either.
He wasnât capable of handling the Theresa thing and she still had to trust him.
Dolores had stated that so Matthew couldnât say anything else either. Then he turned his body back.
âDolores, do you know Declan, how do you know about him?â asked Armand.
