Dolores was puzzled as she didnât understand why he had suddenly become so serious.
âWhatâs wrong with you, are you forgetting that the names have been changed?â she asked him.
Matthew didnât forget, âIâm used to calling them that and I donât want to change.â As he spoke, his gaze rested on her stomach, âWhen this child is born, let it follow your last name, whether itâs a boy or a girl.â
He looked at her and said gently, âYour father only has one daughter, leave him an heir.â
He was being serious as he should think more of her as she thought of him.
It was false if she was not moved. She glared at him, âWhy are you being so melodramatic, do you want me to cry?â
He smiled, hugged her and kissed her forehead, âI canât let you cry.â
âTsk-tsk, who am I tangling with? I got a mouthful of dog food once I got out, donât you want me to live?â
Armand Bernie stepped over the threshold and leaned against the door with his hands on his chest, watching with great interest the scene that had just transpired.
His eyes full of tenderness became indifferent at that moment.

Then she ignored Armand and walked in with Dolores in her arms, as if she were invisible.
Armand was speechless.
Was he jealous?
Yes, indeed he was jealous.
Wasnât that pathetic enough? Why did it irritate him?
Did he think he was easy to bully?
He cried out in his heart, âA heartless wretch who forgets his mate when he has his wife! He felt he was a wretch who had been abandoned at that moment.
Theresa Gordon would not forgive him and even his friend only wanted his wife.
At the word âheartless,â Matthew, who had not gone far away, heard her voice, turned and asked, âWhat did you say?â
Armand didnât dare say anything because he was frightened. He quickly rearranged his words, âErmâ¦. your two children want to eat ice cream. Iâm going out now, I want to ask if they have anything to buy. Iâll bring it back to you.â
Matthew asked, âDo they have anything they want to eat?â
âCake, cream pie.â
She hadnât eaten anything since this morning and suddenly missed that cream flavor.
âWhat flavor?â he asked again.
She thought about it for a moment, âMango.â
Armand said, âOkay, Iâll buy some more fruit while Iâm at it.â
âUm.â replied Matthew. They wouldnât be able to leave today and would have to wait until tomorrow. It wasnât as convenient to buy things here, so he had to drive outside to shop.
The best thing about this place was that it was quiet.
At this hour, there was sunlight in the yard and they went into the living room. This wooden house was cool during the summer and the temperature inside and outside the house was totally different, as if they had entered an air-conditioned room. In the center of the house was a square table. Jayden Nelson and Andrew Nelson were sitting across from each other and there was a chess board on the table. They were both playing chess. Andrew was facing the problem and thinking about the next step to turn the tables.
They didnât even realize that someone had entered the room.
Jayden made a point of cultivating his patience and attention, so he didnât rush him and quietly waited for him to figure out the flaws in the game.
Matthew and Dolores consciously lightened their steps and did not disturb them, but entered through the wall from the doorway. In the corner near the window, Amanda was crouched down and a large Samoyed dog was lying on the floor. His fur was snow white, without a single hair, like a snowball.
Amanda stroked his head with her hand and gave him a loving look.
She whispered to him, âWhy are you so cute?â.
Dolores squatted down and touched his hair, âDo you really like this dog?â.
Amanda cocked her head to the side and jumped into his arms in surprise at the sight of Dolores, âMom.â
She wrapped her arms around his neck tightly, âWhy are you here?â
She smoothed her hair, âI miss you, thatâs why I came.â
Andrewâs chin rested on her shoulder and he turned his head toward her to look at Matthew, âDad, did you and Mom make up?â
âWhen did we fight?â he pulled his daughter out of his arms and pinched her cheeks, âWeâre just temporarily separated, we donât fight or get angry, understand?â
Amanda curved her lips as she didnât care why they were separated and just wanted them to stay together forever, so they could live together all the time.
âDad, can I keep this dog? I really like it.â She pointed to the Samoyed lying on the floor.
Matthew didnât agree right away. Although the dog looked cute, its size was large and he was worried that he might hurt it.
âDad, please.â He grabbed his collar and pouted.
âThis dog is very docile, he wonât hurt anyone and heâs trained.â Kevin Forbis walked in and saw Dolores, âYouâre here too?â
However, he knew well in his mind that the reason Matthew had gone and returned must be because of her.
He had heard from Jayden of her departure. He should have shown up in White City to attend Charlesâ wedding.
She nodded her head in agreement.
Andrew had lost this game again and he wasnât about to, âLetâs play another game.â
Jayden touched his head, âItâs good to have fighting spirit, but weâll fight again tonight.â
He stood up and looked away. Andrew was distracted as he had not won a single game yet and it was the first time he was frustrated.
Jayden deliberately didnât give in as he was smart and hadnât suffered a defeat, which wasnât good.
As the saying goes, success only comes with hard work.
He had expectations for his grandson.
The expectations he had for Andrew were even higher than the ones he had for Matthew at the time.
He intended to cultivate him, as he was young, but mature-minded and somewhat proud.
It didnât hurt to take a swing now and then.
When he saw Dolores, he soon knew why Matthew had not left.
âCome out with me for a moment,â he said to Dolores.
âYes,â Dolores said. She knew he must have had something to say to her, so she followed him out of the parlor.
