âI have someone I likeâ¦â
âNoâ¦â
Before Dolores could finish her words, Charles suddenly kissed her and stopped what he was going to say.
Doloresâ pupil contracted and wanted to push Charles away by instinct.
âDonât push me. Just this once⦠Just once.â Charles pleaded in a thick voice.
Dolores was stunned. Her heart skipped a beat. She could feel Charlesâ grief and that he was choking.
His body was rigid.
After a while, Charlesâ lips moved from Doloresâ lips to her cheeks, then stopped by her ears, âWhen Jeffery framed you, I knew it was a chance to get back at my foster father, but besides, youâre the reason too. I didnât want you to be affected by anything bad. Matthew would still be nice to Jeffery if he didnât know the truth. I donât think he will look back after he reveals the truth. He would do whatever he could to get back at you. All in all, I underestimated your love for him. I am jealous and envious. Please take good care of yourself. From now on you will lose a man who loves you.â
Charles turned away quickly, âIâm leaving, and I wonât disappoint you this time. Today will be our last meeting. I will not set foot in B-town anymore. Now, go.â
Dolores looked at Charlesâ back, âThank you.â
Then, Dolores called Boyce, who was outside the room.
Soon, Boyce came in and looked at Charles.

âCome on,â Dolores said softly.
Boyce said nothing and pushed Dolores out of the room.
Boyce asked after they entered the elevator, âIs it done?â
Dolores looked and sounded cold. It was as if she didnât want to talk about it. âYes. Boyce, Iâm tired,â Dolores squeezed her glabella.
Boyce was no fool. He knew Charles wouldnât help hide the truth without asking for something. Boyce had to remind Dolores that he thought he knew Matthewâs character well. It was no secret how Charles felt about you. He would not grant your request without asking for something. I expect you to refuse him outright if his conditions are about you.â
Dolores raised her head and looked at Boyce, âWhat do you think he would do to me?â
Boyce remained silent.
Dolores smiled, but there was coldness in her eyes, âDo you think we made any sexual agreements?â
âNoâ¦â
âItâs exactly what you think!â Dolores stopped Boyce.
Boyce looked down, âIâm sorry.â
âYou didnât just humiliate me when you had this thought.
It was just a thought that went through Boyceâs mind and he blurted it out. It was inappropriate. He felt bad about it.
After exiting the elevator, Boyce pushed Dolores out of the hotel entrance and headed for the car. Then, they saw Jayden.
Boyce stopped. Both Jayden and Boyce looked surprised to see each other, but they soon learned why they had both come. It was probably for the same reason.
After Victoria met Charles the other day, she went home and told Jayden about Charles. Victoria asked Jayden to get someone to keep an eye on Charles, just in case he acted recklessly.
So, Jayden knew what had happened today in front of the hospital.
âDid you go to see Charles?â Jayden put his hand behind his back.
Dolores replied, âYes. Heâll be out of B-town, and the doctor will be gone, too.â Jayden raised his eyebrows. He hadnât expected the case to be solved so soon.
âHe went out of his way to find the person, and now he promises to leave town and not reveal the truth?â
Boyce looked at Dolores. He wanted to know why Charles had also decided to let him go.
âCharles didnât want to reveal the truth. His target was Jeffery and he wanted revenge on Nathan. He knew it wasnât an easy task to confront Jeffrey, so he decided to go back to White City first,â Dolores explained.
Jayden was still hesitant, but since Dolores had explained what had happened, he didnât want to muddle things up. Jayden sighed, âJust tell Matthew the truth if the secret gets out.â Jayden had grown old, and he felt tired from all these years.
Dolores was surprised. After all these years of hiding, suddenly Jayden didnât care about the secret anymore? So why did he have to come to Charles?
âI donât want him to find out from other people. It must be me, you or Victoria.â
Dolores frowned. She couldnât accept this answer, âThen why did you keep the truth from him? Did you ever worry about how he would feel? Did you want him to kneel before Victoria and repent of his coldness all these years, or did you want him to fight Jeffery until one of us was dead? You knew how Jeffrey felt about Jolene? Iâm sorry. I overreacted.â
Dolores closed her eyes and rested her forehead on her hand. She almost had a nervous breakdown.
Matthew from the beginning and allowed him to cultivate grudges in his heart, and nowâ¦.
âItâs getting late. Letâs go home,â when Jayden wanted to turn around, he remembered something. He looked at Dolores, âSamuel and Simona missed you. Call me when itâs convenient. Iâll bring them to you.â
âSure,â Dolores said.
Thomas opened the car door. Jayden got into the car and drove off.
Boyce asked, âAre we leaving now?â
Dolores shook her head. She needed some time to calm down. She didnât want to go home looking like that and she didnât want Matthew to see her like that.
Dolores wasnât feeling very well. Probably because she had just been triggered and it was affecting her baby.
Boyce wanted to comfort her and patted her shoulder, but when his hand almost touched Doloresâ shoulder, he stopped. He realized it wasnât appropriate. So he withdrew his hand.
Boyce stood silently beside Dolores on the side of the road.
However, what happened was observed by the person in the car that stopped in front of the road.
He raised the car window and sped away.
When the car passed by Dolores, she raised her head and saw the man in the car. However, the vehicle was moving very fast and she could not recognize who was in the car.
The person in the car looked away after Dolores disappeared from her sight.
The night was dark. It began to rain. Raindrops fell softly from the sky.
Matthew had been in the complicated world of business for too long. He could hide his true thoughts very well. No one could pry into his thoughts.
Even if Matthew found himself in a dangerous situation, he could appear calm as if nothing had happened. This was the image now. His expression, his look and even his voice were as cold as the rain outside.
âThis is confidential. Report to me directly if you find anything.â
âSure.â
Soon, the car disappeared in the heavy rain.
Dolores climbed into the car through the rain. She didnât look well. Boyce was concerned, âDo you need to go to the hospital?â.
Dolores understood her bodyâs condition well, âIâm fine. Letâs go home.â
Boyce wanted to say something, but seeing her exhausted face, he kept quiet.
Soon, the car stopped at the villa.
