I could only hide it from Dolores at that moment.

“Let me know when there’s a new development.” Matthew looked at the time, “I’m leaving first.”

Boyce said yes.

Matthew stopped by the door.

“You’re on your own, come eat New Year’s Eve dinner tonight.”

Boyce was not from B-Town, none of his family members were there too, he didn’t spend New Year’s at home during the previous years, the three of them would meet outside, but this year was different, Armand was married and had his own family, Matthew also had Dolores and the two children, he definitely couldn’t go out during New Year’s Eve, Boyce seemed to be alone.

“Okay.”

Boyce smiled, “I thought you forgot about me because everyone is married.”

Matthew reminded him, “Don’t say it.”

“I know.”

Matthew walked out of the villa, it was snowing hard outside, his gray coat flapped in the wind, leaving a thin patch of snow in his hair, he pressed the unlock button on the car key, the car light blinked, then he opened the car door and got inside.

He rolled down the car window and looked at the villa, which was almost covered with snow, then looked away, started the car engine and drove off.

The car stopped in front of the Nelson Family house, from whose roof hung red lanterns, which caught the eye amidst the white snow.

He went inside and saw the two children hanging “firecrackers, fish…” and various decorations symbolizing the new year, they thought it was fun so they were very excited.

Jayden and Victoria followed them, in case they accidentally fell off.

Coral reached over to grab the clothes she had taken off.

“What about her?” Matthew asked.

“In the bedroom.” Coral replied.

“Did she sleep all afternoon?”. asked Matthew again.

Coral shook her head. “She went shopping,” she bragged and said, “She even bought me clothes, I’ve never seen such a good woman.” Coral choked when he spoke to the end.

She had never been married in her whole life, had no son or daughter, although Matthew treated her well and gave her lots of money, but no one had ever bought her things.

Matthew patted her shoulders, “I’ll go take a look at it.”

Coral smiled and said, “Quick, go upstairs.”

Upstairs, Dolores was sitting by the window, square pillow hugged, holding her chin with both hands as she looked out at the heavy snow outside.

She didn’t even feel it when the bedroom door opened.

Matthew came over and put his hand on her shoulders, “What are you thinking about?”

Dolores raised her head, at that moment, Matthew saw that her eyes were red so he stroked her cheeks, “What’s wrong?”

“I miss my mother.” Dolores hugged her waist, she really wanted to go visit the Flores Family, but she was afraid they would fight again.

They had always celebrated New Year’s together, that was the first time they didn’t, she felt sad at heart.

“What if I send someone to pick her up?” tried to ask Matthew.

Dolores shook her head, “Forget it, I’m afraid we’ll argue again, I don’t understand, Randolph is selfish, I should have understood.”

“Don’t think about it, do you want to change clothes? Then we’ll go eat New Year’s Eve dinner.” Matthew deliberately diverted her attention.

“By the way, I bought some clothes for you, try to see if you can wear them.” She said to Matthew, she went downstairs to put on her slippers, opened the bag on the bed and took out the suit, “I think it’s very suitable for you, that’s why I just bought it.”

Matthew’s clothes were all custom made from overseas, he wouldn’t need to go shopping at the mall for clothes for all four seasons, they had his measurements and sent it to him every season.

He walked over, Dolores was excited, “Try it on, okay?”.

Matthew said yes respectfully.

Dolores took off his clothes, she put on the clothes she had bought, they fit him very well, she didn’t really know Matthew’s size, as a fashion designer, she was extremely sensitive to a person’s build, just by looking at someone’s approximate height and weight, she knew what size would fit him.

She straightened his shirt collar, ironed it nicely, then puffed out her cheeks, “I don’t even have the heart to buy such expensive clothes.”

Back then she just wanted to save money for the kids, it was the first time she spent so much money, especially for him.

Matthew laughed softly, “So, you love me more than yourself then?” she didn’t have the heart to buy clothes for herself but she had the heart to buy them for him?

Dolores pouted, “I regret it, I’ll take it back tomorrow to get my money back.” Matthew was speechless.

“I won’t allow it.”

He liked it, not because it was expensive, just because Dolores chose it for him, even if it was from the street stalls, he would wear it too.

Dolores put the clothes in the back and said deliberately, “It’s useless even if you won’t allow it.”

He was surprised, the corner of his eyes glittered, “Is that so?”

“Yes… No, no…” she immediately changed what she said when she met Matthew’s face, smiling but it didn’t look like a smile.

“It’s too late,” before they finished their words, he already pulled her into his embrace, Dolores pushed him away, “Don’t make a scene.”

“When have I ever made a scene? Hm?” he bent down to lean in, his lips pressed against her cheeks.

Dolores immediately changed what she had said, “I won’t give it back to you, I’ll buy you more if you like it.”

This way, she could go broke.

“Mm, good girl,” he kissed her cheeks, “Let’s go downstairs.”

“Knock knock…”

Casually, there was a knock on the door, it was Coral, “Young Master and Miss, we should go now.”

Matthew said, “Alright,” he let Dolores go and fixed her hair that he had messed up earlier, her hair was so soft, long to her waist, it had never been dyed, and so shiny.

“Don’t keep them waiting,” Dolores said.

When they came downstairs, Boyce was already there, he had gotten along well with the two children so they were very familiar with him, Simona was the most excited, she pulled him and said, “We have a lot of fireworks, do you want to put them on with me?”

Boyce rested his cheeks on his hand, deliberately acting as if he was thinking, “Fireworks, is that fun?”

Simona said innocently, “Of course it’s fun,” she gestured with her hands, “Like this, it will go to the sky with a whoosh, then boom, it will explode, so there will be a huge, bright, very beautiful flower.”

Samuel covered his eyes sideways, he really couldn’t help but tease her, “You thought Boyce doesn’t know anything? He’s playing with you.”

Simona blinked, “Playing with me…?” Samuel was speechless.

He was totally speechless.

Suddenly, Simona ran to Dolores, who had just come downstairs, looked up and acted shy, “Mommy, I’m hungry.”

“Come on now, the restaurant has called and ready.” Victoria took Jayden’s coat and handed it to him, “Put this on first.”

Matthew carried the little girl who was hugging Dolores’ leg.

Not knowing why she wanted Dolores to hug her, “Mommy, hold me.”

“You can’t.” Matthew refused.

The little girl was disgruntled, “Why?”

Matthew looked sideways at Dolores, “See how she’s so thin, she can’t carry you.”

“Yes she can, she was carrying me and my brother at the same time.” Simona refuted.

Deep down she thought, ‘You don’t understand my mommy as much as I do.

“Your mommy is hurt, she can’t carry you in her embrace.” Coral interrupted, thinking of the surprising bruise on Dolores’ waist, then said, “The upstairs bathroom still isn’t slip-resistant?”
