"Jungkook stands there on the stairs that lead to the ball. He takes a deep breath. All the eyes in the hall anticipate his arrival. He was the last royal to arrive. Known by the name of the prettiest prince to exist, everyone was waiting to get a chance to see his face in person. Everyone wondered, is the prince as pretty as in the pictures on the internet?
Seeing all eyes on him, his anxiousness increased. In dim light, he could still see the faces of people. His eyes roamed in search of the person he wants to see, he observed the hall but didn't find him.
"His Royal Highness, step forward, everyone is expecting you," a lady, his personal maid, spoke. He looked at her.
"I am waiting for hyungie to arrive," he said just above a whisper.
Jungkook took his time to get ready. He wants his hyungie to see him first. He was adorned in cream-colored dress pants, neck adorned with a pretty necklace, ears with gems, his head was adorned with a shiny crown. His legs trembling in anticipation.
Suddenly the door of the hall opened, and Jungkook's eyes looked at the entrance to see a silhouette of a person. The person entered the hall, and the dim lights lit up his face, the face Jungkook was yearning to see. Eyes met and magic happened. Jungkook's heart raced, and he stepped down the stairs. The prince whose silhouette was seen by everyone, now his beautiful face was on display.
Gasps could be heard. The prince attended this ball after 16 years. Murmurs erupted in the hall. But now the prince didn't go anxious because he was succumbed to the allure of the eyes of his bodyguard.
It felt like he was again an 8-year-old kid, same ambiance, same lights, same place, and same eyes. They were the same eyes that looked at Jungkook the same way as they were looking at him 16 years ago.
16 years ago...
A small prince was walking down the stairs with his personal maid that he called 'ajumma.' The small child grew anxious, his eyes all puffy, chubby cheeks pink, his button nose red. It was clear that the baby prince cried a lot.
He looked everywhere in the hall, and his eyes landed on a boy, maybe 3-4 years older than him. He was looking at the prince with concern. He was standing with the prince's Dehyun uncle.
The prince kept looking at that boy with a pout and him sniffling.
The boy waved at the prince, smiling at the baby. The boy made funny faces for the prince so that he remained distracted from the eyes of the people in the ball, and it worked. The prince soon started giggling while walking towards the crowd. His brothers waited for the prince to come to him, but the prince made his way towards the boy.
"Who are you?" the prince asked the boy with his innocent eyes.
"I am Kim Taehyung, my prince," the boy said while smiling.
"Taehyungie hyung," the prince repeated the name for himself while pouting.
"I am Jungkookie," the prince introduced himself, showing his bunny teeth.
"I know, my prince," the boy replied.
"How can you know me when I don't know you," the little prince asked Taehyung with confused eyes and a pout.
"Now you know me," Taehyung said while smiling.
"Right," Jungkook showed his bunny smile.
"His Royal Highness, would you like to go to the 2nd prince?" the maid asked.
"No, wanna stay with tae tae hyungie," the prince denied going to the second prince.
"Hyungie, why are you holding hands with Dahyun uncle?" the prince asked.
"Because he is my dad," Taehyung said while smiling.
The little prince looked at his palm, he whispered, "dad," looking at his hands.
"I also wanna hold hands," the prince demanded.
Taehyung removed his hand from his dad's and extended his hand towards the prince.
The prince took his hand and held it.
Taehyung intertwined his fingers with the prince's.
"Warm," Jungkook whispered, looking at the intertwined hands.
"I wanna hold hands forever," Jungkook demanded.
"I will, forever," Taehyung promised, smiling.
"Will you go to the garden with me?" Jungkook asked the elder with his innocent eyes.
Taehyung nodded.
They both held hands and ran to the garden.
"Hyungie, I love this fish," Jungkook said, pointing towards the fish in the pond.
Taehyung could see his and Jungkook's reflection in the pond with the moon above them.
He looked at the prince, "you are so pretty, Koo," he said truthfully.
The little Koo smiled at himself, unable to hold his smile. He looked down and grabbed his lips between his teeth to stop smiling.
Taehyung extended his hands and took the lips of the younger out from the teeth.
"Don't bite, it will bleed," Taehyung said with concern.
They both looked at each other in silence.
"Why were you crying, my prince ?" Taehyung asked.
"Missing mama," Jungkook breathed out, his mood again becoming sour, fat tears on the verge of falling.
"Don't cry, my prince," Taehyung said, panicking.
"Look, I also don't have a mom, but I am not crying," Taehyung said.
Jungkook looked at the handsome boy in front of him.
"Wanna become strong like hyungie," Jungkook said while pouting.
"You don't have to be strong, Jungkookie, it's okay to be weak, I will be strong for you and protect you," Taehyung said, being serious.
"Hyungie will protect me?" Jungkook asked.
"Yes, I will protect you," he replied.
"It's okay to miss Her Royal Highness, but don't cry so much that your eyes hurt, okay?" Taehyung said.
Jungkook nodded.
"Hyungie, eyes hurting," Jungkook complained.
Taehyung fisted his fingers and put them on Jungkook's eyes.
When the cold fingers lay on Jungkook's eyes, he felt relieved.
"Is it still hurting?" Taehyung asked the younger.
Jungkook shook is head
"Hyungie is the best," he added while smiling, while Taehyung admired the little prince.
The prince and Taehyung were sitting on the swings.
"Hyungie, missing dada," Jungkook complained with a pout.
"Then we can go and meet His Royal Highness," Taehyung suggested.
"But dada doesn't talk to me, he is mad at me," Jungkook said sadly.
"No, baby, he is not mad at you. Nobody can be mad at you. He is sleeping because he needs rest as he is tired of taking care of the kingdom alone for years. He can listen to everything you say, and he will answer all of your questions when he wakes up.

Jungkook was waiting in his chamber for his Hyungie.
It had been 3 months since their friendship began.
"Ajumma, when will Hyungie arrive?" he asked his maid.
"Wait a little, His Royal Highness, he must be on his way."
"Koo," Taehyung called the younger while entering the chamber.
"HYUNGIE!" Jungkook exclaimed and ran to hug the elder. The elder embraced him.
"Missed Hyungie," Jungkook said while still hugging the elder.
"I missed Koo too," Taehyung said while patting the head of the younger.
"Why didn't you come yesterday, Hyungie?" the younger complained cutely while parting from the elder.
"It was my aunt's wedding, I went there," Taehyung informed the little prince.
"Wedding?" the prince asked.
"Emm, let me explain," Taehyung thought for a while and then answered.
"When two people love each other so much that they can't stay away from each other, they marry and stay together forever and ever like her highness and his majesty , and then God gives them a baby as a gift ,like you ," Taehyung said truthfully, sharing whatever he knew about marriage.
"Oh," Jungkook's lips formed an "O."
"Then Koo and Hyungie will marry, and God will give us a baby too," Jungkook said while smiling.
"Koo can't stay away from Hyungie," he added.
"Hyungie can't stay away from Koo too," Taehyung said smiling and patting the head of the younger.
"So, will Hyungie marry Koo?" Jungkook asked with curious eyes.
"Yes, I will marry you," he admitted.
They both smiled.
Suddenly Jungkook frowned and panicked.
"But, Hyungie, I am a boy, I have to be a girl to marry you like Mama and Dada," Jungkook said, tears forming in his eyes.
"I will marry you, whether you are a boy or a girl," Taehyung said with honesty.
Jungkook smiled widely showing his bunny smile.
" Hyungie , who is koo to you ", jungkook asked
" Koo is my heartbeat ", taehyung answered truthfully while smiling looking at the little boy.
