Bai Qingqing halted in her actions. âIs it only Rosa? How did this poison come about?â
Shuu merely smiled at Bai Qingqing. His eyes were slowly going out of focus as he looked towards Curtis, before shifting his gaze to Parker, and finally to Muir. âProtect her⦠never⦠ever leave herâ¦â
âDonât speak, youâll be fine!â Bai Qingqing said stubbornly as she continued to massage Shuuâs body.
When the ape king arrived with his men, he glanced briefly at the tiger limbs strewn all over the ground, before walking towards Bai Qingqing and her company. âWhat happened?â
As though she didnât hear him, Bai Qingqing was half-knelt on the ground massaging Shuu, her tears falling relentlessly upon his body.
Shuuâs condition didnât turn for the better. He had his mouth wide open, yet he couldnât take in enough oxygen to satisfy his oxygen-deficient body. His eyes were wide open as well, but it looked as though he could no longer see anything. Only that hand of his tightly gripping Bai Qingqingâs clothes revealed his will to live.
Parker couldnât bear to see Bai Qingqing in that state, so he squatted down as well. âLet me.â
âBe gentler,â Bai Qingqing said in a choked voice.
A beastman reported to the ape king what just happened. The ape king huffed and said, âThose tiger beastmen deserved to die. How dare they try to kill a female!â
The ape king walked to Bai Qingqingâs side. After taking a look at Shuuâs condition, he said painfully, âDonât be upset. Itâs his honor to be able to die for you. He must be feeling blissful right now.â
With a teary face, Bai Qingqing looked up at the ape king. She didnât wish to waste her breath with him and merely said, âSave him!â
The ape king sighed deeply. âItâs too late.â
The wolf king was gazing at his son, and the grief on his face didnât look like a pretense. Yet he said nothing.
It was clear to those present that this wolf beastman could no longer be saved.
Seeing that the ape king wasnât prepared to help, Bai Qingqing looked away from him and lowered her head to continue to massage Shuuâs body. She asked gently, âHow are you feeling? Can you hear me?â
With a smile, Shuuâs lips parted as though he wanted to speak, but suddenly he suddenly felt choked, and his mouth openedâlike fishes that jumped on land. He started panting urgently and with much difficulty.
Bai Qingqing was startled. âHow are you feeling?â
Shuu let out weird sputtering sounds from his throat, and before he could take another breath, his body straightened, and he morphed into his wolf form.
The stunned Bai Qingqing stared at Shuu for a good while, before laying a hand over the black wolfâs heart with a trembling hand. Her body turned limp as her hand made contact with him, and she covered her mouth and started sobbing loudly.
âSince Shuu loved you, Iâll leave you to bury his corpse,â the wolf king said solemnly.
Bai Qingqing looked up at the wolf king that bore a 50% resemblance to Shuu, then closed her eyes and let the two strings of tears slip down her cheeks. âOkay.â
Seeing that Shuu was dead, Curtis ran out of patience. He pulled Bai Qingqing up with one hand and said to Parker, âYou should deal with it.â
âI want to go too!â Bai Qingqing said between tears. Curtis tightened her hold around Bai Qingqing, and it could be felt from his aura that his words were not to be defied.
âHe died on my behalfâ¦â Bai Qingqing said between sobs, before bursting into tears.
Curtis exerted even greater strength then, as though he was trying to rub Bai Qingqing into his body so that she wouldnât be hurt anymore. Bai Qingqing fell silent and merely sobbed with her body quivering.
After a long while, Curtis finally let go of her. With his thin lips tightly pursed, there was an intense murderous aura in his blood-red eyes. âItâs time to get rid of some people.â
The dazed Bai Qingqing didnât pay attention to what Curtis was going to do as she remained in Parkerâs embrace. With Muir carrying the black wolf, the group of them went out of the City of Beastmen.
They buried Shuu on a picturesque mountain, and the process didnât take a very long time. However, by the time they returned, the tiger castle had descended into complete chaos.
