Hi, before we start let me introduce myself. I am Kimberly Hansen, twenty-three years old and daughter of Frederick and Karin. They divorced two years ago, but they still have a very good relationship with each other. My mother continued to live in London. I moved to the Netherlands with my father. Too much has happened in London that I don't want to think about and I have my career in the Netherlands. The first year I lived with my father and since a year I have my own house. Everyone knew where we lived. I've had enough of the paparazzi. No one knows where I live now. Of course except for my parents, my best friend and manager Silvia and staff. The fact that I have staff walking around here is because of my father. I prefer to be completely on my own, but my father didn't like that. Not that I mind them. They're all nice people. If they have nothing to do they are in a house further down the yard, but I always have the feeling that I am being watched. I am currently one of the most famous actresses in the country. I really like acting, but everything that comes with it is really not my thing. I'm also the model for my dad's company, just because I like doing it. If I have time left, I help my father with the business where necessary.
I spent all day in the studio and am now on my way to my father's office. I haven't seen him in a few days. So it's time we have dinner together. Before I get to his office I have to go past the staff. As usual, they don't even dare to look at me. Of course I also have to visit his assistant afterwards. That's really a person who thinks she knows everything better. I don't understand how my father can put up with her for so long. "Is my father in his office? " I ask as I walk past her, towards my father's office. "Ah, so you are Kimberly". I hear the most beautiful voice ever say. Suddenly I remember that my father has a new assistant, which was about time. I turn around. I look into her beautiful green eyes. When I realize I'm staring at her, I immediately turn away. I'm not that into people. I don't trust them. They all want something from me for the wrong reason. "So he actually hired a smart one. Is he there or not? "I ask a bit annoyed, because I've been standing here longer than I intended. "Yes, your father is here. He has a meeting with the Berlin office". I sigh when I hear that. So I have nothing to do with those people. They are all men over forty, who think they can flirt with me.
I'm unsure what to do. "You can go to his office though." I hear that beautiful voice say again. I can already see that she is so much different from all the other assistants my father has had. "Yes, I know, but I don't like the people from Berlin. I just wanted to ask him if he wanted to have dinner together, but I'll call him later." When I say that I want to walk away again. "Wait ". So she's no different from the others. I will be told again that she will report that I was here. And when my father has time for it, he will call me, because he is really busy. "What? " I say very annoyed. "If all goes well, the meeting should be over soon. You can wait for him here too if you want. That couch is lovely." I walk towards the couch she points to. "Okay, yes I can do that". To be fair, she seems to be okay.
I think I could behave a little better. So instead of sitting down, I turn to her. "Sorry, I haven't introduced myself yet. I am Kimberly Hansen, the daughter of ". I hold out my hand to her. As soon as her hand touches mine, a tingle goes through my whole body. "I-I thought so," she says shyly. It seems like she felt that tingle too. "I'm Julia Brown. Your father's new assistant. Nice to meet you ". Yes, that is certainly nice, I think to myself. I feel the heat rise to my head. We stare at each other for a moment. I'm taking a closer look at her now. I can see she has several tattoos, something I always like in a woman, and wonder where else she has. I don't want to let go of her hand yet, it feels so nice. I startle when I hear the office door open behind me. I quickly let go of her hand and turned around. "Hey dad, time to have dinner together? ". I walk over to my father and give him a hug. I am not a cuddly person, but with my father I am. "I still have a few things to finish. You can help me if you want. Then we can have dinner in an hour." After he says that I follow him into his office. Before I close the door behind me, I take one last look at my father's beautiful assistant.
As soon as I close the door, my father turns to me. He puts his hand against my forehead. "No, you are not sick". I look at him in surprise. "No, why? I didn't say that, did I?" He smiles. "No, that's right, but I think I just saw that you introduced yourself to Julia." I quickly turn my head away. He doesn't need to see me blush. "She's different from all the others dad. I think I like her. At least the first impression was good," I say, plopping down on the couch. My father has found his place behind his desk. "Nice to hear. I think it was mutual". I turn my face to him. "Why do you think? ". He shrugs. "I saw how relaxed she stood there". "So? ". He looks at me seriously and stands up. "You have more in common than you might think ". My father sits next to me on the couch. "Did I tell you that I remember her from before? ". I shake my head. "Do I know her? ". Now it's my dad's turn to shake his head. "I hadn't seen Julia since you were born. I met her again a month ago. I saw right away that it was her". He has a gloomy look in his eyes. "Why haven't you seen her for so long? She was still a child then. How did you know it was her? ". I am very curious who Julia is. Especially because of how my father reacts. "She looks just like her father. Her eyes are all his. Only I could see the pain in Julia." I can see the pain in my father when he says that. "Who is her father? ". "Didn't I ever tell you about Steven? My best friend from back in the day". That name looks familiar to me. "It does tell me something. Are you still friends? ". He shakes his head. "Why not? ". My father sighs. "He died. On the day you were born". I didn't see this one coming. I can see it still hurts him a lot. "Sorry. So he's Julia's father? What happened to him? ". He stands up.
My father walks to his desk and takes something from the drawer. When he comes back he gives me a picture. He stands with a man. "She does indeed look like her father". I don't really know how to react. "Yes, I saw right away that it was her." "But what happened and why did you never see her again? ". My father gets up. Walks around the office a bit before he starts talking. "There was a fire in their house. They were sleeping. Steven was able to bring Julia out. Then he went back inside." He is silent again. He seems to swallow his tears before continuing. "His wife Christina, Julia's mother, was still upstairs. She had broken her leg a week earlier. As a result, she couldn't come down herself. Steven wanted to go get her. He must have just upstairs when part of the house collapsed. Both could not be saved. I heard it four hours after you were born". I can't say anything for a while. "It was a strange period. I was so happy that you were finally with us and was heartbroken that I would never see my best friend again." I get up to give my father a hug. "I have heard you tell nice stories about him, but you never told this. What happened to Julia? ". We sit down on the couch again. "I like to talk about the good times with him. Julia was his pride. To your mother and me, she felt like our little niece. Your mother and I tried to take Julia in, but she was immediately placed in foster care. I don't know what happened there." I look at him. "How do you mean? ". He sighs. "When I spoke to Julia last month, I asked about it. She just put up a big wall like what you have. She talks about everything until it gets personal. Then she cuts it off. You two look alike in that part," he says, giving me a hug. "But enough about this. I'm starting to get hungry. I still have to finish this and then we can have dinner".
I sit in silence on the couch. My thoughts are with Julia. She must have been going through a rough patch. You can't tell by her beautiful friendly smile and beautiful eyes. I feel a smile come to my face when I keep thinking about her. No one has managed to do that, especially not after a short meeting. I already know that she is someone special. "Frederick, do you still need me? Otherwise I'll be off in no time". I wake up from my thoughts when I hear Julia's voice through the intercom. "No. Thanks for today. Have a nice evening and see you tomorrow". I hear my father answer her right away. "Dad? ". "Yes what is it?" he asks without looking at me. "Shall I ask Julia if she wants to join us for dinner? ". Now he looks at me. He seems a little surprised. "It shouldn't get any crazier with you. But if that's what you want, I'm not stopping you". A little surprised at his reaction, which I don't understand, I walk to the door.
When I open the door I see Julia standing at the elevator. "Julia," I say softly. She turns around and has that beautiful smile on her face again. "What is it Kimberly? Is there anything else I can do for you? ". Why did I want this again? Normally I don't want to have anything to do with people, but she does something to me. I just don't know what. "Well.... Um.... We order something to eat and.... Um.... If you have nothing else or.... Um....... Someone waiting for you or something.... Um....... Do you want dinner with us?" Shit, that came out really bad. She also makes me so nervous. "If you want, of course," I say afterward, when she just keeps looking at me. Her smile seems to be getting a little bigger. "Sounds nice. If I don't ruin a father-daughter moment with that." Yes she thinks it's nice. Pff Kimberly, don't be weird. "No, come in". I open the door wider and with my arm I point the side towards the office. When she walks past me she whispers very softly. "And no, no one is waiting for me ". I don't know why, but that announcement makes me happy and I feel the heat rising to my head again.
