Chapter 3
I groggily rubbed my eyes as I tried to shake the remnants of sleep off of me. But before I could even sit up, the door to my room burst open and two guards rushed in. They grabbed me roughly by the arms and pulled me out of bed.
âWhat is going on? Let go of me!â I demanded, struggling against their grip. âYou have no right to handle me like this!â
But they paid no attention to my protests, dragging me out of the room and down the hall. I stumbled along, trying to keep up with their brisk pace, my heart racing with fear and confusion. What could possibly be happening? Why were they treating me like this?
As we emerged into the main room, I saw that the whole pack was gathered there, waiting for me. And there at the front, stood Lucian and Lyra. My heart sank as I saw the smirk on Lyraâs face, and I knew that whatever was about to happen, it wasnât going to be good.
The guards were rough as they threw me to the ground, But before they could take me any further, Aiden jumped in front of them.
âThatâs enough!â Aiden yelled, his voice filled with anger. âYou donât have
to handle her like that!â
But before Aiden could continue, Lucian, the Alpha of our pack, stepped forward, cutting him off with a shout.
âIt was my order,â Lucian declared, his voice firm and commanding. âNo one is going to go against it.â
Aiden stood his ground, his fists clenched at his sides as he faced off against the Alpha. I could see the frustration and anger in his eyes, but he knew better than to argue with Lucian
I lay on the ground, staring up at Lucian, my head swimming with confusion. What was happening? Why was I being treated like a criminal?
I mustered up the courage to ask Lucian, my voice trembling slightly. âWhatâs going on? Why am I here?â

Lucianâs gaze was stern as he looked down at me. âWhy did you lie about your pregnancy?â he asked, cutting me off before I could say anything
more.
Lucianâs expression grew even more serious. âAnd why did you poison. Lyraâs cup?â
I lay on the ground, completely bewildered by the accusations being thrown at me. Poisoning Lyraâs cup? Lying about my pregnancy? I had no idea what Lucian was talking about.
âWhat are you talking about?â I asked, struggling to sit up. âI didnât do any of those things.â
Lucianâs expression was unyielding as he stared down at me. âDonât play dumb, Nadia. We have evidence.â
Just as I was about to protest my innocence again, the door to the room burst open and my doctor stepped in. He approached Lucian, his expression serious.
âI have to correct something,â he said, looking at me with an apologetic expression. âYour Luna came to me and asked me to give her fake pregnancy results.â
I was shocked, unable to believe what I was hearing. Why was my own doctor lying about me? I looked back and forth between him and Lucian, feeling like my world was crashing down around me.
âThatâs not true,â I stammered, trying to make sense of what was happening. âWhy would you say that?â
The doctorâs expression was regretful, but he didnât back down from his story. âIâm sorry, Nadia, but itâs the truth. You asked me for fake results.â
I couldnât believe what was happening. I felt like I was trapped in a nightmare, unable to escape the web of lies and deceit that had been spun around me.
I looked up at Lucian, pleading for him to see that I was innocent, but his expression was inscrutable. I was left feeling hopeless and alone.

I watched in horror as Nadja, a maid, stepped forward and presented at handkerchief to Lucian.
âItâs Nadiaâs,â Nadja explained, âShe forgot it when she poisoned Lyraâs cup. I saw her with my eyes.â
I felt like the wind had been knocked out of me. I couldnât believe what I was hearing. Nadja was lying, but why?
I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. âLucian, I swear to you, I did not poison Lyraâs cup. I would never hurt that child, or anyone for that
matter.â
But before I could say anything more, Lyra stepped forward, tears.
streaming down her face. âYouâre a liar, Nadia! Youâve always been jealous. since I got pregnant. You want to hurt my child because youâre jealous that Iâm going to give Lucian an heir.â
I couldnât take it anymore. The injustice of the situation, the lies, the accusations, they all came crashing down on me. Before I even realized what I was doing, I had rushed forward and grabbed Lyra by the hair, pulling her close.
âYouâre the liar!â I yelled. âYouâve always been jealous of me, of my position. as Luna. Youâre trying to turn Lucian against me because youâre afraid Iâll take what you think is rightfully yours!â
Lucian was quick to step in, pulling me away from Lyra and holding met
back.
Lyra clutched her stomach, wailing dramatically. âOh, it hurts! My baby What have you done, Nadia?â
Everyone turned to look at me, their expressions filled with horror and accusation. It was as if they could see the guilt written all over my face.
âSheâs grabbing me!â Lyra cried out, pointing a shaking finger in my direction. âEven though Iâm carrying Lucianâs heir, she still tried to hurt me and our baby!â

hoping to find some support, but his expression was filled with disappointment.
âNadia, I donât recognize you anymore,â he said, shaking his head. âWhat have you become?â
I felt a wave of despair wash over me. Was everyone truly convinced that I was capable of hurting a child? Could no one see the truth, that I was innocent?
âPlease, Lucian, you have to believe me,â I implored, desperation in my voice. âI did not do this. I would never hurt anyone, especially not a child.â
But my words fell on deaf ears as everyone continued to look at me with. suspicion and fear.
Lucian cradled Lyra in his arms, soothing her as she continued to wail about her supposed stomach pain. I stood there, feeling hurt and alone, as I watched the scene unfold.
Lyra turned and looked up at me, a sly smile spreading across her face. âProve to us that you didnât poison my cup, Nadia. Drink from the cup.â
I shook my head. âI wonât. I donât trust you, and I wonât put my health and my child at risk just to prove my innocence.â
Lucian turned to me, a hard look in his eyes. âWhat are you hiding, Nadia? Why wonât you drink from the cup if youâre innocent?â
Aiden stepped forward, his hand on my arm. âNadia, Iâll believe you if you drink from the cup,â he said softly.
I hesitated, looking down at my belly. âI canât,â I said, my voice shaking. âMy babyâ¦â
But before I could finish, Lucian cut me off, his voice raised in anger. âStop mentioning a baby! Youâre a liar, Nadia. Youâre not pregnant.â
Tears streamed down my face as I turned to Lucian. âI thought you loved me,â I whispered. âBut it seems like youâre too blinded by Lyra to see things the way they are.â

Lucianâs expression softened for a moment, and I thought he was finally starting to see the truth. But then his face hardened once again, and he stepped away from me.
I picked up the cup, my hand shaking slightly as I looked at Lyra. The wicked smirk on her face filled me with dread, but I knew I had to prove my innocence. I took a deep breath and drank from the cup, the contents bitter and sickly sweet on my tongue.
The room started spinning, and I heard Aidenâs voice calling my name. But his words grew fainter and fainter until they were no longer audible. I felt my eyes close, and the next thing I knew, the sun was beating down on
me.
