Lorena woke up from the blinding sunlight that shone through the window. She hissed and quickly covered her face, eventually adjusting to the light. She looked around and panicked a bit before remembering that she was in her new room.
Thank god it wasn't a dream, that'd really suck!
Lorena stretched and went about getting ready, and while she did she was thinking. Wouldn't her appearance in the plot cause a change already? Not by much, but it was still something. If she could make her way to a higher position, wouldn't she A) get closer to Zachary, therefore having more ways to change his fate, and B) be able to cause an even bigger ruckus in the plot.
Lorena had already asked what the date was, and she guessed that she should be about 9 years before the story starts. A lot can happen before then. She wasn't going to be like the other main characters in the stories who aim to 'live a happy life'!. They were stupid. They occupied the bodies of the villains, cannon fodder, among others. Their fate is bound to the plot and therefore cannot escape it. Since the body Lorena was inhabiting never even was mentioned in the story, she wouldn't have a problem moving to the countryside and living peacefully.
But why would she want to do that? There was all of this drama and action waiting for her here. If she could be like one of those badass subordinates the villain has on their side that the readers really wish could be on the main character's side, wouldn't that just be awesome?! Right!
Now, let's not get ahead of ourselves. First, I need to prove that I can actually be useful.
Lorena looked at herself in the mirror and nodded in satisfaction. She turned on her heel and decided to feed her hungry beast of a stomach. Everything was going fine until it wasn't. She angrily stomped her foot and looked around in exasperation.
"Where the hell am I?! Everywhere I turn there's only more hallways and doors that look exactly the same! I could've sworn I already walked down that one!"
She was hungry, frustrated, and beyond pissed. She clenched her hands together and forced herself to think happy thoughts.
Unicorns. Blue. White. Writing. Rainbows. Nature. Zachary. Wait, what?
Lorena surprised herself with that last one. But quickly shook it off. He was her favorite character, so it made sense that he made her happy, right?
Wait, no. He's not just a character now. He's a real-life person.
Lorena hated when the main characters would only think of the people as characters, yet here she was doing the same thing! They were living, breathing people. They changed, they laughed, they loved, they hated. Just like she did. But the main characters only seemed to ever think of them as "the person who ended up killing the original", but they only ended up killing the original body because the original was being a pain in the ass! So long as you didn't follow that path, you would be fine! The traitors who didn't stick by the original's side when shit hit the fan? Toss 'em! Who needs people who are backstabbers?
A chuckle from behind put an end to her inner monologue. Lorena quickly turned around to find Zachary standing, in all of his magnificence, with a hand in his pocket. Amusement could clearly be seen in his eyes and Lorena could tell that it wasn't a part of his facade he always kept. Being caught talking to herself, Lorena's face heated up.
This is so embarrassing! He probably heard me yelling and complaining about his house! Or at least I think this is his house. What if it's like an HQ? Nah, there's no other members that I've seen here, so I'm going to assume this is his house. Anyways, he will be the only one that sees my bad moments.
Lorena coughed to try and dispel her awkwardness. It didn't work, but it gave her a push to talk.
"Er, well, I might have gotten lost... Do you know where the dining room is?"
Zachary felt amusement looking at Lorena, this girl whom he had picked up just the other day. She seemed genuine and was quite interesting, he found himself thinking of her as the younger sister he never had. Nonetheless, he didn't answer her question as he turned and walked the opposite way Lorena was planning ongoing.
Well shit. Looks like my horrible sense of navigation has crossed over with me.
Finally seeing food after what felt like hours of walking, Lorena impatiently fast-walked to a seat and started to put food on her plate. She didn't notice the fact that no one else was at the table, save for Zachary who had sat at the head. After a few moments of silence, she finally looked up from her food.
The hell?! Where is everyone? Wait. Don't tell me. Servants are supposed to go somewhere else to eat?! Oh shit! Zachary is going to be my boss now, didn't I just give myself a ticket to be kicked out?!
Though her thoughts were in turmoil, her face showed nothing. To the outsider, it looked like she was chewing and waiting to eat more. Inside, she was planning what to do next. Should she dismiss herself saying she didn't want to eat anymore? That option was killing her, but it was an option nonetheless. Or should she apologize and blame the fact that she was living on the streets before and didn't know manners?
Despite her seemingly emotionless face, Zachary still understood what she was thinking and relieved her of her fears as he ordered.
"As it seems that you enjoy the food here, from now on you are required eat all three meals with me, understood?"
Lorena looked over in surprise but quickly nodded her head. The big boss had spoken. What could she do to change it? With a satisfied and light heart, she turned back to her food and ate with relish.
After food, however, came Raymond. He bowed towards Zachary.
"Good morning sir, I will now take Lorena for training."
Zachary nodded and walked out of the door, seemingly uninterested. Lorena looked up to see a scary smile on Raymond's face as he spoke.
"Now then, how about we start classes?"
A shiver ran up her spine.
That night, Lorena went to bed fully fed with a bellyful of grievances.
