Today was the day. Lorena hurriedly picked out her clothes and carefully applied her makeup and did her hair. This was the day!
Lorena ran and weaved through all of the teachers and students and to her class. She wished that the day would just speed up already! The students probably felt the same.
Their first holiday, starting today! Lorena would be able to see Zachary again and the very thought made her giddy. She suppressed her excitement.
It's strictly because I am excited to show him what I discovered. Nothing else.
She noticed a letter on her desk. Elegant and neat writing littered the front page.
To: White, Lorena.
From: Greene, Elizabeth
Elizabeth had gotten married to Prince Louis a week earlier. The wedding was beautiful and over the top. It didn't go off without a hitch though, the FL was in attack mode the whole time. She had to have used every single trick in the book. Hired goons to rape her, chili powder in her dress, trying to make a big commotion in the actual wedding, etc. You name it? She probably tried it. It didn't matter, though, because none of them succeeded. The thought brought relief to Lorena. That meant that Zachary wasn't helping her and was no longer infatuated with her like in the novel.
Like she said before, without Zachary, the FL was useless. She was like a commoner pretending to be a queen. She looked ridiculous. Her recent outbursts brought her trouble if anything. Her father put her in house arrest and scolded her after the commotion at the wedding. He didn't know what got into his daughter. The usual obedient and lively little girl was nowhere to be seen. There was only a conniving and deceiving person taking her place.
Hello Ms. White! I have to thank you again for your advice that day! I really do love Prince Louis. He's cold and indifferent on the outside, but only I know what he's like on the inside. I'm being the person who understands him, and he appreciates that. How about you, Ms. White? Are you in love like I am? He makes me feel giddy inside. Whenever I see him, I feel safe, wanted. It's really a pleasant feeling. When he gets close or whispers things in my ear, I positively blush ear to ear. Do you know? I want to be with him all of the time. I want to be the one he thinks about when he wakes up, does his work, and goes to sleep. I believe I am, and that makes me so happy. What about you, Ms. White? Have you found someone like that yet? I hope you do or have. I don't want to take up too much of your time, so I'll leave you now. Goodbye!
Sincerely,
Elizabeth
Lorena smiled at the letter. She really liked Elizabeth. It was such a shame that she had to move to the neighboring country. But that's her duty, and that's where she belonged. Just like Lorena had a place where she belonged with something she needed to do.
Students started to shuffle in the class. She snapped out of her thoughts and began her lessons.
Lorena felt tired but energized. Her body was tired, her mind was anything but. Would he miss her? Would he be relieved to have her by his side again? Or would he feel nothing?
The last thought pained her heart, and couldn't help but feel the twinge of disappointment at the thought. But she comforted herself with the fact that maybe he felt just as anxious as she did. To learn what she learned, of course.
Lorena packed up all of her files and papers and quickly bolted out of class. She ran to her dorm and started packing all of them inside a backpack. She grabbed her bag and dashed out with a big fat smile on her face. All of the students were shocked. They had never seen Ms. White with a smile on her face! Or any emotion at all, for that matter. Yet here she was, with a toothy smile!
The male students and teacher's hearts skipped a beat and the female students and teachers stood with their mouths agape. A while after she passed, everyone snapped out of their dazes.
Lorena finally got to Zachary's mansion. It had been way too long! Six months, two days, and three hours, to be exact. Lorena questioned, for a second, whether the fact she knew exactly how long she had been away from Boss was worrisome or not.
She dismissed the thought. It was normal for subordinates to be anxious to not be around their boss. Sure she was a little more so than other people, but that wasn't the point.
Lorena went inside and placed her things down near the front door. She had told all of the servants to not make her presence known to Boss. They knew her standing and position and readily agreed.
She quickly, yet soundlessly, ran up the stairs and maneuvered through the maze of a hallway. Being here for nine years, she got used to these hallways. The first year and a half, she needed an escort after getting lost five times. Throughout that period of time, she was convinced it was complicated like that to keep intruders out. Why else would there be three ways to get to the same room?
She finally got to the door. Her body was practically shaking in excitement and her smile seemed to be permanently stuck on her face. She took a couple of deep breaths and regulated herself. She had to appear proper and professional!
Okay, let's go!
She opened the door... only to meet the sight of a woman leaning over Zachary in his chair.
