Marriage (Completed)Words: 5639

Hemlatta - Means? Aman - I think your parents don’t even want to get you married now. Hemlatta - What? It’s not possible. Aman - It is possible. Hemlatta - What can be the reason? Aman - The reason is that you are a government teacher. Hemlatta - Means? Aman - Means, you earn a good amount of income per month. Per month, you get fifty thousand rupees. Now, if your parents get you married then this amount will start going into your husband’s account and this is the thing that your parents don’t want to see. She said angrily, “No, my parents are not like that. They want me to marry as soon as possible. But they are not getting a good match for me.”Aman - If they want you to get married then why are they not letting you marry? You have already found two boys for yourself up to now. When you want to marry one, your parents say find someone else and when you find the other then they ask you to marry the previous one! It's very awkward behaviour. The thing is they can’t say directly in your face that they are interested in your salary. Hence, their awkward behaviour.Hemlatta - Are you trying to say my parents are greedy. Aman - Who knows? Hemlatta - You need not tell me about my parents. I know about my parents very well. Remember, I am the only daughter of my parents. Whatever they have is mine. And they are not greedy, not even a bit. I wondered, “There is no logic in whatever she said. She just uttered a very foolish statement but I can’t pick up a quarrel over it. I have to tolerate it, otherwise she will leave me forever.”Aman - Okay, okay. Go you. I have one plan.Hemlatta - Which plan?Aman - See, if your parents are not agreeing to get you married with me then we can elope.Hemlatta - No! We have already talked about it before. Aman - But then you said that you would convince your parents but you failed. Now, we don’t have any other option left. We have to take this risk! She said in a sobbing tone mixed with anger as well, “No, I don’t want to hurt my parents! I love my parents!”Aman - Hemlatta, please try to understand. As your parents are going, they are not in a mood to get you married. Hemlatta - But we can still convince them. Aman - How? Tell me the way. Hemlatta, see the reality, there is no other way left! She said in a tone filled with rage, “Shut up! Why are you forcing me to elope with you? I don’t want to elope with you!”I was shocked by her behaviour. I had never seen her speaking outrageously. I thought, “I never thought she could even have a demonic face like that. But it’s her temporary phase. Bear, Aman, bear. Now, she is in tension.”I said patiently, “I am not forcing you to elope with me. I am just saying that now we don’t have any other option.”Hemlatta - No, we have the other option. We have to wait until my parents agree. One day, they will agree for sure. I thought, “I know that that day is never going to come. I can bet on it.”Aman - Hmm…I said to myself, “I think it’s better for me to focus on tomorrow. Hemlatta’s case is going to go for a long time. Tomorrow, I have to go to see the girl recommended by Amit’s dad. Who knows who is going to be my life partner. Though I like Hemlatta and want to marry her, I can’t keep my life dependent only on her. If in the event she is not serious for me then my life will be ruined. And who knows if she is talking to other boys for her marriage too. It’s 2022 man! The era has changed. We can’t trust anyone here, not even our girlfriend!”The Next MorningAmit’s dad, my mom and I went to the city Ferozepur where the girl lived whom we wanted to see. We reached there at about 10 a.m. Amit’s dad took us to a fruit juice shop and made us sit comfortably there. I understood that they had planned to show us the girl there, not in their home. I thought, “It’s not a problem for me. I am interested only in the girl, not in her home. Even if she has a bad home, it’s okay for me.”Soon the girl’s mom reached there. We greeted her and she began to talk to my mom. She said, “My girl is also coming here soon.”My mom - Okay. Her mom - We thought it would be a better place to meet. We can easily get what we want here.My mom - Yeah, I can understand. Amit’s dad - Aman, now the girl will come. You can ask him anything you want. Aman - Okay, uncle. After about five minutes, the girl reached. I looked at her. To my shock, she was a fat girl, not beautiful at all. Her height was, I guess, five feet five inches. Her face was ridden with pimples too. I said to myself within my mind, “Oh shit! Today is wasted!”She sat with her mom along with Amit’s dad. Right in front of them sharing the same table was me and my mom. One of the employees of the shop served us mango shake along with ice-cream. Amit’s dad and the girl’s mom started smiling whereas the face of the girl was straight. She was composed, neither happy nor sad. From the first look of the girl, I got what my final answer was. My final answer was no and I didn’t want to waste time but I could not say as it would hurt them. Amit’s dad said to me, “Aman, you can talk to her.”I thought, “My stupid uncle, how can I talk to the girl in front of all of you.” I didn’t even look into the eyes of the girl. I was also feeling shy because all the elders were sitting with me. Intelligently, my mom understood my problem. She said to Amit’s dad, “Brother, I think we should allow the girl and the boy to talk to each other alone.”(It will be so nice of you, if you leave at least a single word comment 🌺❇️🌹🌺❇️)
