The cafe was quiet, save for the soft hum of conversations and the clinking of cups. Aarohi sat at a small table, her fingers tracing the rim of her coffee cup, unable to meet Vihaan's eyes. There was a strange heaviness in the air between them, a tension neither knew how to break. Vihaan sat across from her, his hands folded, eyes focused on the table, unsure of where to start.

For a moment, they both sat in silence, lost in their own thoughts, the weight of their situation hanging over them. Neither knew how to begin after everything that had happened—the fights, the doubts, the pressure from their families. It felt like everything was falling apart, even though neither of them had ever truly wanted this.

Finally, it was Vihaan who spoke, breaking the silence. His voice was soft, almost apologetic, a side of him Aarohi hadn't seen before.

"Aarohi, I’m sorry," Vihaan began, his words heavy with regret. "I was wrong to get angry, to be possessive, and to try to control things. I shouldn’t have treated you like that. It’s just that… I’ve never been in a situation like this before. It’s not easy, and I let my emotions get the best of me."

Aarohi looked up, meeting his gaze for the first time since they sat down. There was vulnerability in his eyes, something raw and honest. "I didn’t mean to hurt you, Aarohi," he continued. "I know this is an arrangement between our families, but I’m trying my best. I want to protect what we have, even if it’s not the way we imagined it. I want to make it work… for us."

His words touched something deep inside her. She had always believed that their relationship was just a forced agreement, but hearing Vihaan speak with such sincerity made her wonder if there was more to it than just an arrangement.

Aarohi felt a lump form in her throat. She had been so caught up in the anger and confusion, but hearing him open up like this made her realize how much they had both been struggling. She wasn’t the only one feeling lost in all of this.

"I understand," Aarohi whispered, her voice trembling slightly. "I’ve been scared too. Scared that I don’t know you, or that this is all just… a way to keep up appearances. But, maybe we should just try. I don’t know what will happen, but I don’t want to give up without at least trying."

Vihaan's face softened, relief flooding his features. "Thank you," he said, his voice sincere. "We’ll take it one step at a time. No pressure, no expectations. Just us."

For the first time in a long while, Aarohi felt a sense of calm wash over her. Maybe they could make this work after all. They could rebuild the trust that had been shattered, piece by piece.

The moment of peace was shattered when Aarohi’s phone buzzed, a sharp reminder of the lurking doubt. Her heart skipped a beat as she glanced at the screen. It was the same unknown number that had been sending her unsettling messages.

The message was brief, but it sent a chill down her spine:

"Do you know where he was last Friday?"

Aarohi froze, her mind racing. What did this mean? What was the person implying? The words made her stomach turn. Could it be about Vihaan? Was someone digging into his past to ruin what little they had left?

She looked up at Vihaan, who was watching her intently, clearly noticing her sudden tension. His brow furrowed in concern. "Is everything okay?" he asked, his voice low.

Aarohi quickly typed a reply to the unknown number, trying to keep her composure. She needed to know who was behind this, why they were targeting her, and how they knew things about Vihaan that no one should have known.

But before she could hit send, another message came in, this time more threatening:

"Don’t tell him. I have something you should see."

Aarohi’s heart raced. What did they mean by that? Was this some kind of game, or was there something she wasn’t seeing? She glanced back at Vihaan, his eyes now full of suspicion as he watched her with a mix of curiosity and concern.

"I… I’m fine," she said quickly, trying to act normal, though her hands were trembling. She didn’t want to involve Vihaan, not yet. She didn’t know who to trust anymore.

Vihaan seemed unconvinced but didn't press further. He stood up from the table. "Let’s go," he said gently. "I’ll drop you off at home."

As they walked out of the cafe together, Aarohi couldn't shake the feeling of unease. She had to know more. The messages were only increasing her doubt about Vihaan, and she wasn’t sure if she could trust him anymore.

---

When they arrived at Aarohi’s home, she stepped inside, her mind spinning with everything that had happened. Vihaan gave her a long look before walking out, leaving her alone with her thoughts.

The moment the door shut behind her, Aarohi pulled out her phone, her fingers shaking as she typed a message to the unknown person.

"Who are you? Why are you texting me? What do you want?"

She hit send, her heart pounding in her chest. She needed answers. She couldn’t keep living in this whirlwind of uncertainty. If someone was trying to sabotage her relationship with Vihaan, she needed to know why—and who was behind it.

But as she waited for a reply, her mind kept racing. Was she really just falling into the hands of someone who wanted to destroy her trust in him, or was there more to Vihaan’s past than he had let on?

She could only wait now, the silence hanging heavily in the air.
