If Olivia could describe Jack's wedding in one word, it would be perfect.
Her new cousin-in-law looked dazzling in her simple yet classy white dress, causing her new husbandâOlivia's tall, nonemotional cousinâ to tear up at the sight of her walking down the aisle.
The wedding took place in the Manor's ballroom just as Caroline claimed, but the beautiful windows really opened up the room and left everyone that attended in awe. The flowered cross and soft colors really fit the couple, and Olivia felt this marriage would be one for the ages.
Olivia hadn't managed to talk with Jack just yet, or his little sister Emily, but she knew she'd see them eventually. Being in the wedding party, her cousins had a lot more to do. And luckily, Delia hadn't made an appearance just yet, keeping Olivia on edge, but Dylan was a very easy distraction.
She couldn't lie to herself; he looked extremely handsome in his dark blue dress shirt and black tie underneath a classic suit coat. He kept a bright smile on his face the entire time as she introduced him to people who greeted her, and his jokes kept her from getting overwhelmed by all her family and old friends.
And there was the fact that he couldn't keep his hands off of her. Maybe it was how stunning Dylan thought she looked in her blue dress, or how her ocean eyes sparkled, but something about her made him lose all sense of self control. Whether he kept his fingers intertwined with hers, or rested hand in the curve of her back as they walked, he needed to be next to her. And Olivia didn't mind in the slightest, in fact, Dylan's presence gave her a sense of peace.
Dinner flew by as the two sat side by side, chatting with Olivia's family. When Danielle left her younger sister to talk with Jack's friends, Dylan took the opportunity to raise on his feet. "May I have this dance?" He held out his hand to her, a soft smile on his face. "You told me once that you'd let me teach you."
Olivia raised her eyebrows, tilting her head to see if he was being serious. And all she saw was hope shining in his brown eyes, leading her face to brighten as she nodded. "Of course I'll dance with you."
Unfortunately, right before they could hit the dance floor, a familiar face stopped them. "There you are, Liv!" Jack grinned excitedly as he reached his cousin. "I've been looking for you everywhere!"
"I've been here," Olivia teased him, letting go of Dylan to give Jack a quick hug. "Congratulations, buddy, I'm so happy for you."
"I'm just happy you made it," the tall, brown-haired man answered honestly. "Aunt Caroline has warned me about your schedule with Teen Wolf, so I started praying." His eyes drifted to Dylan, and curiosity flickered through his irises. "I've seen you somewhere before, right?"
Dylan smiled politely and held out his hand for the groom to shake, "It's nice to finally meet you, Jack. I'm Dylan; Livie's best friend and cast mate."
Jack chuckled, accepting his handshake and joking with Olivia, "Does Tyler know he's been replaced?"
"He is aware but he is not happy," Olivia played along with a smile on her pink lips.
"I recognize you now," Jack acknowledged to Dylan, resting his hands in his pants pockets. "You play Stiles, right? Emma and I started watching for Liv, but got hooked on it. Your character always makes us crack up."
"Well, I'm glad you like it," Dylan confirmed his role with genuine pride regarding Teen Wolf. "And Olivia told me you liked the Mets too? I have to say, they're my favorite baseball team."
Jack squinted, as if he didn't believe him. "Are you saying to earn points from me for Olivia or are you being legit?"
Olivia snorted, speaking up from beside them, "Oh, he's being legit, Jack. That's one of the reasons we're friends."
Jack looked back at Dylan in slight surprise, and the actor chuckled at the way Jack indiscreetly gave Olivia a thumbs up for his approval. "I like this kid; keep him."
"Jack, honey, your grandparents are asking about you," another voice entered the conversation that made Olivia tense, Dylan glancing at her in concern. He turned his head to see a shorter, middle-aged woman with her chestnut hair in an updo and focused eyes under waxed eyebrows. Dylan could see the resemblance in Jack's face and hers, leading him to guess that this lady was the infamous Aunt Delia. "You need to go say hi."
Jack let out a small sigh, sending apologetic looks towards Olivia and Dylan. "Duty calls, guys. In case I don't see you, Liv, I love you and I'll see you at Christmas. Dylan, glad to meet you and I hope to see you again as well."
The men shook hands once more and Olivia gave Jack another congratulatory hug before letting him go. Not even a second after he leaves does Olivia feel uncomfortable with her aunt before her. "Glad to see you made it," Delia told her with a snarky undertone. "Caroline told me you almost couldn't make it because of...filming?"
"My schedule is very packed, yes," Olivia remained still, replying calmly. "We're in the middle of shooting our third season, so there was a chance I would've been scheduled yesterday or today."
"But this is a family event," Delia countered, her face contorted into confusion. "Does family not matter out there in California?"
Olivia swallowed hard, holding back the words she truly wanted to say. Offering her aunt a fake smile, she stated, "Let's just be glad I'm here, okay? There's no reason to bring up my job."
Delia's nose twitched in disgust, but her eyes fell to the boy beside her niece, who looked awkward as they conversed. "Who are you? I wasn't aware Olivia brought a guest."
"This is Dylan," Olivia answered for him before he could say anything. "He's my best friend."
"I thought those actor people were your best friends?"
"If you are referring to Tyler and Crystal, then yes," Olivia had to say through gritted teeth. "They are my best friends, but so is Dylan."
Noticing her frustration, Dylan slipped his hand into hers, which was resting by her side. Olivia took a deep breath at the contact and returned the smile he offered her. Turning to Delia, Dylan responded politely, "It's nice to meet you, Mrs. Taylor. Livie has told me a lot about you."
Delia quirked an eyebrow and her eyes squinted unsurely, "I'm sorry, you call her Livie?"
"Since the day I met her on set," Dylan didn't even bat an eye, not bothered by her judgement.
"On set?"
"Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that." Dylan feigned innocence before giving Aunt Delia a giant, cheeky grin. "I'm an actor too."
Disgust flirted across the woman's face as she pursed her lips, as if she was deciding how harsh she wanted to make her next words. "And what made you decide to act instead of finding an actual stable career?"
Olivia's jaw dropped. "Aunt Delia!"
Dylan squeezed Olivia's hand, to assure her he was okay. "My father is a cinematographer and my mom used to be an actress," he told Delia the truth, unashamed of his family. He was proud of who he was and wouldn't let a woman like Delia ruin how he had been raised. "Now she teaches at an acting school. I guess I was lucky enough to get her love for the art as well."
"Art is a strong word to describe Hollywood," Delia retorted, judgement laced in her words. "It's lucky that your parents were even able to provide for you; it's too unstable to make a decent living."
"What the hell is wrong with you?" Olivia interrupted before her aunt could say anything more, her eyes widened from the shock. "Seriously, do you even hear yourself?"
Delia was clearly taken aback from her niece's tone and narrowed her eyes. "Now, Olivia, you listenâ"
"How about you listen?" The girl cut her off once more, unable to take anymore. She kept her voice low, since they were still in the middle of Jack's reception. "If you're going to spew about me talking to you with respect, you better shut your mouth until you realize how much of a hypocrite you're being."
Olivia was well aware of the glare being directed her way and how Dylan looked at her proudly, but she didn't stop. "You don't even know him, yet you already think you do. I know that because you did the exact same thing to Crystal, Tyler, and all of Danielle's friends from her show. And us! Being in California and chasing after our dreams inspired us to be the best versions of ourselves. You have no right to criticize us, and until you learn how treat us decently, don't even try to talk to me. Because I'm done."
Without another word, Olivia stalked off in anger, leaving Delia to stare after her completely speechless. Dylan stood there with a smirk on his lips, his hands in his pockets.
Once Delia glanced at him, he offered her a polite grin as he stepped away. "Pleasure to meet you, Mrs. Taylor. Truly."

He found her in the gardens.
Sitting on a simple bench, in front of a tree and surrounded by flowers.
From where she sat, you could see the ballroom's giant windows where her family mingled inside. But out here, peace blew through the trees and the sun shining above warmed her heart. Her anger dwindled the longer she sat, her face turned towards the grass and her hands in her lap.
Dylan approached her quietly, aware of how she often got lost in thought, but Olivia still heard him coming. Yet, she didn't flinch and let him take a seat beside her without a word.
"You know, Livie," he started off, looking across the gardens casually, "I have seen you do some incredible things. But that in there? Hands down, the most badass thing you've ever done. No question."
Olivia couldn't help but chuckle at his dramatics, playfully pushing her knee into his. "Shut up, Dyl."
"I'm being serious!" He defended, though his facade cracked as he smiled. "You held no mercy and I'm telling you, she literally just stared at you like this."
Olivia glanced up to see him widen his eyes and drop his jaw, blinking periodically to make her giggle. "Really?"
"Being the man whose honor you defended, do you think I'd make that up?" he asked with raised eyebrows, causing her to gently shake her head from side to side. "I'm being one hundred percent truthful."
"Well, good," Olivia nodded once, turning her gaze back to the flowers as she frowned, recalling her aunt. "She deserved it."
"I'm not saying she didn't." Dylan waited for a moment before he continued, trying to discreetly move closer to her. "But on a serious note, are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," Olivia brushed off his concern. "It's just...she always gets under my skinâespecially after Teen Wolf started. She never hides her distaste for the show. But I didn't even mean to snap in there, I just remembered something you told me once. We were in the car, eating blizzards and talking about how we've dealt with people who didn't support us. And you told me, no one should ever be guilt tripped for doing what they want to do."
She turned her head towards him and gave him a grateful smile, "So thank you. For giving me courage to finally stand up for myself and my dream."
"You're welcome," he replied happily, moving his hand to rest overtop of hers. "But you've always had that fire in you, Livie. I saw it the first day I met you."
"Really?"
"Really," he assured her with a smile, before he hesitated with his next words. "It's just one of the few reasons why I...it's one of the reasons why I like you, Livie."
Before she could say anything, he rushed, "I like you a lot, like a lot a lot. And if you don't feel the same, I understand. I just wanted to tell you because I couldn't hold it in anymoreâ"
He didn't expect to get cut off. And he certainly didn't expect her pink lips to press against his own. But he didn't complain in the slightest.
Her hands cupped the sides of his face, one of her thumbs brushing his cheek as she kissed him. His eyes fluttered shut after he realized what was going on, springing into action to kiss her back by holding her hands in place with his own.
Finally, he could show her how he felt. He didn't have to hide behind his character, he could just be himself. And boy, did he love himself when he was around Olivia. She brought out the best parts of him and every little quirk she held, he absolutely adored just like she adored his sarcasm and his spastic ways.
They only pulled away to breathe, their noses bumping together as an irreplaceable grin stretched across their mouths once they looked into each other's eyes.
"You know," Dylan whispered as they caught their breath, "That's a really good way to get me to shut up."
Immediately, Olivia's giggle filled his ears and his grin widened at the sound as she moved one of her hands behind his head. "Is that so?" she teased softly, her fingers gently playing with his hair.
"Mhm," his gaze flickered down to her lips once more before he looked back at her bright blue irises. "Definitely, you should do that more often."
"I'll definitely keep that in mind," she replied, before kissing him briefly once more. Their foreheads rested against each other's and Olivia let out a happy little sigh. "By the way," she spoke up, looking up at his enticing brown eyes. "I like you too, Dylan. Like a lot a lot."
"Thank god," he expressed, though Olivia knew he was simply joking. "Otherwise the past few minutes would've been extremely awkward to talk about."
Olivia chuckled, pulling herself away to rest her head on his shoulder. Dylan felt his heart beating like crazy as she wrapped her arm around his bicep. "It's very pretty about here," she stated absentmindedly, letting him put his head on top of hers.
"It is, but my company is prettier," he told her. Dylan knew it was cheesy but he couldn't help himself, because that's how he felt. He cared for Olivia, and wanted her to know how amazing she was.
Olivia let out a small scoff, "You are such a cheeseball."
"More like a hopeless romantic," he corrected before pressing a gentle kiss to her hair. "And speaking of being romantic, you still owe me a dance. If you're up for it, that is."
Olivia raised her head and looked up at him in surprise, "Wait, really?"
"I don't joke about dancing," he responded, holding out his hand for her to grab. "You wanna head inside and show these people how we Californians get down?"
"Nothing would make me happier."
