Melanieâs eyes gleamed. âBut the Pepsi here is not that good. Follow me and Iâll bring you somewhere better.â Isabel looked at Liam who tightened his lips but did not say a word. Melanie did not notice the little interaction between the brother and sister, so she continued,â Donât worry, Iâm not a bad person. I just want to buy you a drink because you two are so adorable.â Isabel widened her eyes. âFor real?â
âOf course!â Melanie then reached out to the little girl. âCome on, Iâll buy you something nice to drink.â
Isabel also extended her hand in response to her invitation.
As Melanie bent over to pick Isabel up, the little girl reached out and scratched her face. Her tiny nails did not only scratch Melanieâs face but even pulled her mask off.
Melanie squealed in pain. The expression on her face turned frosty as she dropped her plan to take the girl away by force. Isabel then immediately jumped into her brotherâs arms and shouted, âHelp! Help!
Someone is trying to kidnap me! Help!â The girl might be tiny and always spoke in a feeble voice, but when she screamed, she could be as loud as a grown woman. Her scream immediately gathered a crowd, and even Sylvia, who was at the snack counter, turned around. She saw Isabel clinging to her brother tightly as she glared at the middle-aged woman before her. The middle-aged woman was completely dressed in black and had a cap on. When Sylvia ran back, the woman hurriedly put her mask on and attempted to escape from the growing crowd. Isabel continued screaming, âCatch her. Sheâs an evil person! Sheâs a kidnapper trying to sell me off!
The crowd grew anxious when they heard the term âkidnapperâ. Several righteous men tried to stop the middle-aged woman from leaving Sylvia was caught in a panic. She stayed by her childrenâs side and protected them from further harm However, the middle-aged woman was as slippery as an eel. She almost tripped and fell after being kicked several times by the crowd but managed to escape.
Sylvia was worried about her children, so she did not go after the woman.
The crowd dispersed shortly after that, and some of them stayed back to offer some comfort.
Sylvia thanked everyone who helped. She then turned to Isabel and Liam with a worried expression, âAre you guys okay? Are you hurt?â Isabel calmed down after the kidnapper left. She wore a smirk and said, âOf course not. Hehe, I even scratched her face.â Sylvia sighed a breath of relief. She then hugged the little girl into her arms and held Liamâs hand tightly.
Isabel continued, âMommy, donât worry. Bro and I knew at first glance that that lady is an evil person, so we tried to trap her but she still ran away.â
Sylvia frowned. âNext time, if you run into a bad person, donât try to provoke or engage them. Run, or scream for help, do you understand?â
They were fortunate because they were in a crowded place this time. If they had been in a secluded place, given their feeble strength, they would never have stopped a grown person from taking them away. Isabel noticed the serious look on her motherâs face. She protruded her lip and nodded obediently.
âOkay, Mommy.â Liam then quipped, âMommy, donât worry. I will protect Isabel and myself.â
Sylvia finally sighed a breath of relief. She believed it would be better to call Ben and Jacob along on their next outing.
The popcorn and juice were finally ready over the counter. Sylvia saw the little girlâs pleading eyes and eventually bought a bottle of Pepsi for her.
