âGlenna, how are you?â
Glenna chuckled dryly and said, âIâm fine. I feel bad for making you worried. I was too busy with workâ¦
a while back.â
Deirdre accepted the excuse and said smilingly, âItâs fine that youâre busy with work for a short while, as long as youâre still willing to call me.â
âWhy would I not be willing to call you? I treat you like a friend from the bottom of my heart.â Glenna felt choked up upon saying that.
Deirdre said, âAre you free today? Would you like to come over for dinner at my place tonight?â
âWill Kyran be there as well?â
âOf course. He's living with me.â Deirdre paused for a moment. âOr would you like to meet me with just the two of us?â
âNo, Iâm only asking casually.â Glenna chuckled forcefully.
âIâll be there tonight.Remember to cook me my favorite stuffed eggplant. Itâs been a long time since I last had it, and I miss having it.â
Deirdre could not help laughing. âSure.â
After ending the call, Kyran came upstairs. He tilted her chin and kissed her before saying, âI overheard you talking on the phone with someone when I came out of the study. Who was it? You sounded happy.â
âIt was Glenna. She has finally come around after so many days.â Deirdre had a faint smile on her face and felt an ineffable joy in her. Kyranâs dark eyes dimmed for a moment, and he asked in a seemingly casual manner, âWhat did you talk about on the phone?â
Deirdre did not notice the difference in Kyranâs tone because she was distracted with joy. She turned on the tap and washed her hands. âOh, nothing much. She was busy with work and didnât have much time to talk. I invited her to come over for dinner tonight. We should invite Declan while weâre at it so they can bury the hatchet and resolve all their previous grievances.â
âSure.â Kyran was relieved. âI shall call up Declan now.â
âHmm.â
He headed to the balcony to make the call. When he returned, Deirdre had already begun to put on her coat, and he could tell that she was heading out judging by her action.
âWhere are you going?â
Deirdre said, âGrocery shopping. We need to get some ingredients since both of them are coming.
Moreover, Glenna has requested stuffed eggplants, and we have run out of eggplants in our fridge.â
âIâll come with you,â Kyran said without hesitation. He grabbed his jacket upstairs, got Deirdre a scarf while he was at it, and wrapped it around her neck.
The couple headed out together. The sun was very warm, and Deirdre squinted comfortably. Many people turned around and looked at them frequently along the way because they made a beautiful couple.
After entering the supermarket, Kyran pushed the shopping cart while Deirdre was right by his side.
They headed to the daily necessities section when they were done with the cooking ingredients.
âKyran, I was wondering if we should get another bag of flour as a backup. I feel that it will still be some time before we move to Germia.â
Deirdre walked ahead and suddenly felt the manâs footsteps halt.
âKyran?â
Kyran furrowed his eyebrows and looked around him. When he was jolted back to reality, he regained his usual expression.
âYes.â
âWhatâs going on with you? Why did you stop suddenly? Is it because you saw something that you wanted to get?â
âNo.â Kyran made up an excuse. âI thought my shoelace was loose.â
âI see.â Deirdre paid no attention to that and instructed Kyran to grab some toothbrushes and towels.
Kyran placed the items in the shopping cart after retrieving them, yet his gaze was constantly drifting elsewhere. âWait for me here. Iâm going out for a short while.â
âWhere are you going?â
âIâm going to the restroom because I donât feel so well.â
Deirdre was stunned for a moment. She nodded despite feeling strange.
Kyran walked in the direction that stirred his suspicion, and his speculation was right.
Someone was taking photos of them in secret.
