Chapter 653 Divorce Brendan slightly moved his fingertips when Deirdre took a deep breath and said, âAbout the abduction-â
âMr. Brighthall, Miss McKinnon.â
Sam came out of the mansion at some point, opened the carâs door, and said, âIâve got them all.â
âAlright.â Brendan threw the cigarette butt and said, âLetâs go.â
Sam slightly hesitated, but not for long. He restarted the carâs engine.
When they got to the courthouse, it was just noon.
Deirdre recovered her senses and got out of the car together with Sam. She felt surprised and dazed when she stepped on the ground.
She was finally about to get a divorce.
Even though they had just been married for two years, it seemed that it had taken most of her life.
Perhaps she might need a lot of time to get through it in the future, but it ended so simply now.
Deirdre closed and opened her eyes while Brendan got out of the car behind her.
Following that, the two entered the courthouse together.
âAre you two here to register? Please go to the counter in front,â said the staff.
âNo.â Brendanâs eyes looked empty when he said, âWeâre here for a divorce.â
âDivorce?â The staff was surprised and explained, âSeeing how well- matched you two are, I thought-
The counter for divorce is there.â
âThank you.â
Brendan went first, and Deirdre followed after him.
Just like registering for a marriage, it wasnât difficult to get a divorce. Deirdre was only aware that the bumpy road of marriage had ended when she got the divorce certificate.
Her heart sank the moment she got in the car.
âMiss McKinnon, where would you like to go? The return flight is not available today. The earliest would be tomorrow. What about I send you to the mansion first?â
Deirdre nodded, and the car started.
At that moment, she recovered her senses and asked, âWhich mansion are you referring to?â
âOf course, itâs Mr. Brighthallâs mansion,â replied Sam.
Deirdre frowned because there were many incidents that had happened there.
Before she could speak, Brendan said, âTake her to a hotel.â
âNo.â Deirdre rejected it quickly. She thought she needed a chance to clarify things with Brendan after some consideration. She had to sort things out since they werenât owing each other anymore now that they were divorced.
âTo the mansion then.â
Brendanâs black eyes were full of emotions. But he fell silent without saying anything.
As they got to the mansionâs living room, Brendan immediately went upstairs to rest.Sam said, âMiss McKinnon, I donât think I should introduce you to things here again, right? All these things here remain the same since you left.
There is food in the fridge as well. Just call me whenever you need anything.â
He told Deirdre his phone number, and she memorized it while nodding. Then, she said, âThank you.â
âMiss McKinnon, you are welcome.â Sam only wished Deirdre would get better, and it was kind of like a wish came true. âIâm already very grateful that I can still see you coming back safely.â
Deirdre smiled in response. She then recalled something. âSam, Iâll need your help. Can you help me?â
When the car arrived at the graveyard, Deirdre went to the tomb under Samâs guidance and put the bouquet of lilies on it.
The lilies were lovely with dew on them. Deirdre smiled but sadly. âMom, Iâm sorry I came here to see you only after so many years. How are you doing? Is it cold there?â
Deirdre caressed the picture on the tomb even though she couldnât clearly see the womanâs smile.
It was only in the evening that Sam sent Deirdre back.
The moment she entered the living room, she heard Brendanâs intense coughing fit from upstairs.
