Chapter 504 Kyran Has a High Fever Mrs. Cox said smilingly, âNo. You didnât make much noise. I found that both of you were rather quiet. However, after seeing the condition of your lips, I can say that Mr. Reedâs behavi or doesnât match his mannerism.â
Deirdre was stunned and touched her lips subconsciously. She could feel that her lips were obviously s wollen and even a little tender to the touch.
At the thought of Kyranâs ferocity at the time, Deirdreâs cheeks burned with embarrassment. She felt rather shy in her head but al so delighted.
That seemed to be Kyranâs first time losing control of himself.
It was a good thing. After all, a person in love was not always sensible enough.
Mrs. Cox was delighted in her heart as she looked at Deirdreâs reaction. When she was done binding th e rack, she asked Deirdre, âWhat would you like to have for lunch today? I reserved some pork from Al by, who lives at the village entrance. Shall we have it with roasted carrots today?â
âSure.â
âWhereâs Mr. Reed? Does he have any dietary restrictions?â
âWe donât have any dietary restrictions.â
âAwesome! I shall cook something then.â
Deirdre helped out by her side. When the meal was prepared, Mrs. Cox looked in the direction of the room and said in a puzzled tone, âIs Mr. Reed such a late riser? Itâs the middle of the day alreadyâ¦â
âHe got out of the hospital yesterday, so itâs possible that he is exhausted. Iâll wake him.â Deirdre got up , opened the door, and walked to the bedside.
âKyran, Kyran.â
She called him twice and did not receive a reply. She found it strange and stretched out her hand to tou ch Kyran. Her heart started racing as soon as her hand touched Kyranâs face.
âHeâs burning up!â
His body temperature was unusually high, and his forehead was covered in sweat.
âDeirdre.â Mrs. Cox opened the door halfway and asked, âIs Mr. Reed awake?â
Deirdre hastily said, âMrs. Cox! Kyran has a high fever!â
She felt extremely guilty because she had not realized that after such a long time. She had assumed that Kyran was tired. Kyran might have had a fever all night, yet she had not realized it!
Mrs. Cox was stunned. She opened the door and entered the room right away. She wore an anxious expression instantly after feeling Kyranâs face. âIâm sure this is becaus e of the few hours he spent in the living room last night!â
âWhat should we do then?â Deirdre took a deep breath, and she was so anxious that her hands were shaking. âIs there a doctor in the village?â
âNo,â Mrs. Cox said with a bitter smile. âItâs a poor village, and the capable villagers have moved away. The remaining villagers are most ly elderly people who donât mind being sick. Theyâre fine with dying, so no doctor would start a clinic here because they wonât make a profit here anyway.â
âWhat should we do then?â Deirdreâs teeth were chattering. âCan we call someone? Call Mr. King so he can come and pick up Kyran!â
âDeirdreâ¦â Mrs. Cox reminded her, âThe only road to the village is blocked by a rock that rolled down the mountain from the rain yesterday. The road is inaccessible by cars.â
Deirdre felt the vision before her eyes darkened while Mrs. Cox said hesitantly, âWe can only seek help from Hoyt.â
âMr. Leigh?â
âHe rides a bicycle to the market to get the medicine. He helps out when someone here falls sick on usu Deirdre hastily nodded. âIâll get him!â
âIâll come with you.â
Mrs. Cox shut the door and helped Deirdre to go over quickly.
Hoyt thought his eyes were playing tricks on him when he opened the door. He rubbed his eyes and said in surprise, âI didnât manage to leave because it was raining yesterday.â Deirdre was panicâ
stricken. However, thatâs not important. I need your help, Mr. Leigh. Kyran is having a high fever!â
Hoyt brought a thermometer to Mrs. Coxâs house and tested Kyranâs temperature. Kyranâs body tempera Hoyt could not care about anything else but made a promise before heading home to get his bicycle. âDonât worry, Miss McK
