Chapter 480 What Is Her Relationship to Him?
Deirdre stuffed the coat into Hoytâs hands and said calmly, âThis is a gift from someone to me. However, Iâm not planning on wearing it anymore because out of sight, out of mind. It would be great if you could handle it for me too. If you really think that itâs too much, you can take 70% of the sales profit and give the remaining 30% to Mrs. Cox.â
Hoyt still wanted to decline, but Deirdre said, âJust think of it as a favor to me. Will that be alright?â
Hoyt could not bring himself to decline again. He folded the coat and said softly, âHowever, I donât want it. Iâll help you to sell it. Youâre a girl and need some money. You can use it to buy stuff for yourself.â
Deirdre smiled but did not comment further.
She would figure out a way to get the money to Hoyt by then.
Enter titleâ¦
Hoyt felt his heart racing as soon as he saw her smile. He lowered his head further instantly because he had never seen a woman with such a beautiful, gentle smile. The wounds on her face that were almost scabbing over did not ruin her beauty in the slightest.
âI⦠Iâ¦â He stuttered. He could only calm himself after pinching his thigh. âIâll dress your wounds now!â
âSure.â
Deirdre stretched out her hands. Hoyt did not leave for a long time after he was done dressing her wounds.
âIs there anything else?â asked Deirdre.
Hoy appeared hesitant. âUhâ¦â
âHmm?â
âForget it. Nothing, I shall make a move first.â
Hoyt left with a muddled head. He wanted to ask Deirdre about her relationship with the man from yesterday. However, he thought about it closely and figured that Deirdre did not want to interact with that man since she had chosen to stay here.
If he were to bring up that matter, it would only dampen Deirdreâs spirit.
He returned with the coat and found the luxury car from yesterday parked at the door of his house. He furrowed his eyebrows and stuck his head into the house.
The two people from yesterday were in the yard. Hoyt wanted to sneak away, but Madame Leigh noticed him at one glance. She said loudly, âHoyt, where are you going?
What did you do at the market today? You didnât help me get the 3 dollars worth of pork I asked you to!â
The man from before cast a look at Hoyt instantly. His gaze was cold as before.
Hoyt hid by the door and stuffed the coat into the carrier strapped to the backseat of the bicycle while he said, âHow am I supposed to get it when I donât have enough money with me?â
Madame Leigh caught up to him and said, âDonât have enough money? Where did the 15 dollars you had with you go?â
Hoyt thought that the money was enough to treat Deirdreâs hands.
âDonât mind that.â
âWhatâs in the bicycleâs carrier? You canât be buying some indecent stuff secretly with the money, right?â muttered Madame Leigh. She was about to grab the coat from the bicycle.
âThatâs enough!â The village head stopped them impatiently. â Both of you, go back to the house. We have guests here. Why are you making a fool of yourselves by clamoring here?â
Madame Leigh pulled Hoyt into the house to deal with him while the village head said in embarrassment, âThere are too many family affairs here. Sorry for that.â
Declan chuckled and said, âA family is only lively when there are quarrels. Thereâs nothing to be embarrassed about. On the contrary, your wife is quite enthusiastic and doesnât treat us as outsiders, at the very least.â
The village head was rather embarrassed, yet he felt comforted by Declanâs remark. He glanced at the indifferent-looking Kyran and went into talking proper business. âThere are very few villagers who fish nowadays. The older ones canât stand the cold from the sea wind, so they forage for food on the mountain to sell. However, I believe that they will report to me at once if they find something. They wonât keep it for themselves.â
âSo, youâre saying they havenât even found a pair of shoes, huh?â
The village head was slightly hesitant. âThey donât really want shoes, anyway. They may throw them away after finding them. I shall ask around again today.â
