Chapter 335 I Donât Want to Owe You Anything When Deirdre was putting the clothes back, Eilis came over and asked, âWhatâs wrong?
You donât like them?â
Deirdre lowered her voice and said, âLetâs go to another place.â
âWhy? Tobey told me to bring you to this store. He said that the winter clothes in this store are the best in town,â said Eilis. Suddenly, she realized something and chuckled.
âYou donât have to worry about the price. Tobey just transferred 3,000 dollars to me. He told me to use the money to buy clothes for you, so I have to do as Iâm instructed.â
When Eilis dragged Deirdre over to the counter, the shopkeeper said, âThat man over there has already paid for the clothes. Do you need a bag? Otherwise, you can leave us your address, and weâll deliver them to you.â
Eilis and Deirdre were stunned, especially the latter. She already felt they had troubled Kyran too much when he sent them to the town. She did not expect him to pay for her clothes at all and did not know what to do now.
âHow much did he pay?â asked Deirdre.
The shopkeeper replied with a smile, âItâs enough to pay for all the clothes in our store.â
âI knew Mr. Reed was rich, but I didnât expect him to be this rich. This is a famous brand in the town. Itâs going to take a few thousand dollars to buy all of the clothes here.â
Deirdre bit her lips tightly. She did not want to accept any undeserved reward. She would rather owe Tobey money than Kyran. After all, Kyran had helped her a lot.
âMadame Russell, do you have the money? I want toâ¦â
â
âYeah, yeah! I have the money.â Eilis hastily pulled a wad of money out of her purse and put it in Deirdreâs hand. âI understand what youâre going to do. You two arenât a couple yet, so you shouldnât take his money or take advantage of him. Itâs right for you to return the money.â
Holding the money in her hand, Deirdre wanted to thank Eilis, but she felt that Eilis might not accept it, so she just smiled at her. Then, using the counter as her support, she slowly walked toward the entrance.
Kyran noticed her before she could reach the entrance. He asked her through his phone, âWhatâs wrong? Are you done buying your clothes?â
Deirdre handed the money in her hand to Kyran.
Kyran did not accept it and asked, âWhat do you mean by this?â
âThis is the money for the clothes. See if itâs enough or not. If not, Iâll ask Madame Russell to get more for you. Mr. Reed, Iâm grateful that you sent us to the town, but you canât pay for the clothes,â Deirdre said sternly.
Kyranâs face sank.
âWhy?â he asked, stunning Deirdre.
âWhy?â
They were just friends, and they had only met each other not long ago. Even if they had known each other for a long time, she couldnât accept gifts from him just like that.
âI canât take your money,â Deirdre said after thinking for a while. âI appreciate your kindness, but weâre friends, right? We should have each otherâs back as friends, but this is too much. I wonât be able to pay you back, so Iâm not going to take it.â
âThen what about Tobey?â Kyran looked at Deirdre. âSo, you will pay him back?â Deirdre was stunned again. She did not expect Kyran to bring Tobey up at all. âDoes he know Tobey?â
This was the first thing that appeared in her brain when Kyran mentioned Tobey.
It took her a while to come to her senses and say, âI canât pay him back either, butâ¦â
She did not know how to explain to Kyran.
Kyranâs face was cold. His fingers danced rapidly on his phone screen as he said, â But what? Could it be that you guys arenât friends? Unlike me, is he someone special to you?â
Deirdre did not know how to answer this question either.
It was true that they were friends, butâ¦
Before Deirdre could say anything, Kyran continued. âThis money is nothing to me. If you really feel uncomfortable taking it, you can treat it like I am lending it to you. You can pay me back when you have more money in hand.â
