ViratÃishan
The Indian cricket team's training camp was abuzz with energy.
The players had just wrapped up a rigorous session, and the locker room was alive with banter, the air thick with the usual mix of camaraderie and playful teasing.
Ishan sat on a bench near the corner, untying his shoelaces. Virat seated next to him, nudged him with an elbow.
"Kid, if you take any longer with those laces, we'll miss dinner," Virat quipped, his tone light but with that characteristic edge of authority.
"Relax, Virat Bhai," Ishan replied, shooting him a grin. "Good things take time."
The room was loud, but not loud enough to drown out the collective teasing that started at Ishan's words. "Oho, Ishan has started giving Virat Bhai attitude now!" KLÂ chuckled, slinging an arm around Hardik.
"Times are changing, man. Who'd have thought Ishan could talk back to Virat Kohli?" Hardik added with mock amazement.
Virat rolled his eyes, but his lips twitched in amusement. "You all talk too much," he said, his voice calm but carrying the weight of his seniority.
Ishan finished tying his shoes and stood up. As he did, he looked over at Virat, who gave him the slightest nodâa gesture only Ishan would understand.
The team headed to the dining hall for dinner. As the players filled their plates, conversations flowed freely.
Shubman was narrating a funny incident from practice, and Rohit Sharma was laughing heartily, his signature booming chuckle echoing in the room.
In the midst of it all, Ishan glanced at Virat, who was quietly eating at the head of the table. Their eyes met briefly, and Ishan felt his cheeks warm. He quickly looked away, but not before Rohit noticed the exchange.
"Why are you blushing, Ishan?" Rohit teased, drawing the attention of the others.
"What? I'm not blushing!" Ishan protested, his voice a little too loud, which only made everyone laugh harder.
"Leave the poor guy alone," Virat said, his tone firm but with an undercurrent of protectiveness that didn't go unnoticed by Rohit.
The team let it slide, but Rohit's curious gaze lingered on the two for a moment longer.
The players had retired to their rooms, but Ishan found himself pacing the balcony of his shared suite with Virat.
"Do you think they suspect?" Ishan asked, his voice low but tinged with worry.
Virat, leaning against the railing, looked calm as ever. "Suspect what?"
"Us," Ishan said, his eyes searching Virat's face for reassurance.
Virat smiled faintly, reaching out to pull Ishan closer. "Let them suspect. We're not doing anything wrong."
Ishan sighed, leaning into Virat's touch. "I know, butâ"
"No buts," Virat interrupted gently. "We've been together for three years, Ishan. I'm not hiding anymore. If they find out, they find out. We'll deal with it together."
Ishan looked up at him, his usual playful demeanor replaced by something softer. "You're right, Virat Bhai."
Virat smirked. "Bhai? Is that how you address your partner now?.
Ishan flushed. "Force of habit!"
The team was gathered for a meeting. Rohit Sharma, the captain, was briefing them about upcoming matches when an unexpected knock at the door interrupted him.
"Come in," Rohit called, slightly annoyed.
The door opened, and a staff member entered with a tray of tea. As they served the players, Virat and Ishan exchanged a brief look.
It was a subtle gesture, but Rohit caught it. His eyes narrowed slightly, and as the meeting resumed, he found himself unable to shake the feeling that something was different about the two.
During a break in practice, Rohit, KL Rahul, and Ravindra Jadeja were sitting under the shade of a tree, discussing the team's dynamics.
"You know," Rohit began, "I think Virat and Ishan are closer than we thought."
Rahul raised an eyebrow. "Closer how?"
Jadeja smirked. "You mean like...close-close?"
Before Rohit could respond, the sound of laughter drew their attention. Virat and Ishan were off to the side, engaged in a playful argument.
Virat was trying to take the water bottle out of Ishan's hands, and the younger player was laughing uncontrollably.
"That," Rohit said, gesturing toward the scene.
That evening, the team gathered for a casual dinner. Rohit, never one to beat around the bush, decided to address the elephant in the room.
"So, Virat, Ishan," he began, his tone light but curious, "you two seem.....very close lately."
The room fell silent as all eyes turned to the pair. Virat leaned back in his chair, his expression unreadable.
"Is there a problem with that?" he asked, his voice steady.
"No problem," Rohit replied quickly. "Just....curious."
Virat glanced at Ishan, who nodded almost imperceptibly.
"We're together," Virat said simply, his tone leaving no room for doubt.
The silence that followed was palpable. Then, Hardik broke it with a loud laugh. "Wait, you're serious?"
"Yes," Virat replied. "We've been together for three years."
The team's reactions ranged from shock to delight. KL Rahul looked like he didn't know whether to laugh or applaud, while Shubman Gill muttered, "Well, that explains a lot."
Rohit, after a moment of processing, broke into a grin. "Well, congratulations, I guess! And here I was thinking I knew everything about this team."
The atmosphere lightened as the players began bombarding Virat and Ishan with questions and teasing comments.
As the team dispersed, Virat and Ishan found a quiet moment together.
"Well," Ishan said, smiling up at Virat, "that went better than I expected."
Virat chuckled, wrapping an arm around Ishan's shoulders. "Told you we had nothing to worry about."
Ishan leaned into him, feeling a warmth that had nothing to do with the night air.
