Naomi didnât dare to stay outside for too long since she was afraid that Amos would find out about her actions. She returned home after chatting with Nelson for a short while.
As soon as she walked in the door, she felt that there was something amiss with the atmosphere inside.
Her heart skipped a beat. She thought her parents found out that she had sneaked out to meet Nelson. Just as she was thinking of an excuse, Eudora spoke.
Just as she was thinking of an excuse, Eudora spoke, âCome on, Cindy!â
Only then did Naomi see that Cindy was standing opposite to Eudora. She hadnât noticed Cindy at first because she was blocked by the plants.
âPhew! Theyâre not talking about me,â Naomi thought to herself. She heaved a sigh of relief and went upstairs hurriedly.
â¦
Cindy wasnât in a good mood, âMrs. Granger, I know that youâre doing all this for me, but Iâm really exhausted. I want to leave Rosaville City and go to a quiet place to be alone for some time.â
Eudoraâs brows knitted, âI understand your feelings, but even if you want to spend some time alone, you donât have to leave Clearwater Bay!â
Cindy had grown up in the Granger familyâs training base ever since she was a child. The children who had been selected by the Granger family were mostly orphans.
They all didnât have a family!
Eudora would definitely not agree to let her leave just like that.
âHow about this?â Eudora suggested.
âI know you are feeling down. Itâs all my fault as I was too rash. A few days ago, Amos received a free honeymoon vacation package after he bought me something. Iâm not planning to go as Iâm not feeling well, and there are some matters in the family that I have to tend to. Here, you can have it. Go for a vacation as long as you want, you donât have to worry about anything here, Iâll ask someone to fill in for you for the time being. Just come back when you feel better. How does that sound?â
Cindy was flattered, âHow could I accept this? Mrs. Granger, I donât deserve this!â
Eudora nodded, âYou deserve this! You might not be as important in other peopleâs eyes, but to me, you are a part of our family. Seeing you upset makes me sad too. So, just accept this, okay?â
Cindy finally nodded and said, âOkay! I will try my best to cheer myself up and come back as soon as possible.â
âThereâs no need to rush. Things will be just fine at home!â
After Cindy went back to her room to rest, Eudora turned around and went back to her own room as well.
Amos had already taken a shower. He was lying on the bed, reading a book.
When he saw Eudora come in, he said casually, âYour pajamas and hot water are all ready. Go and take a nice bath now, and then you can lie on this cozy and warm bed.â
Eudora was a little disheartened, âIt seems that I have messed things up. Cindy was already in a bad mood, and now she is feeling even worse!â
Eudora buried her head under the blanket. She sounded really unhappy.
âWill Cindy really leave us?â
Amos took her into his arms, âNo she wonât, donât worry about that! Besides, stop putting yourself down, youâve done a great job!â
âBut Cindy doesnât seem to like it! And the people in your company, will they blame me too?â
Amos shook his head, âNo, they wonât!â
âReally?â
âYes, quit worrying! Youâd better take a bath now, or do you need my help?â
Hearing that, Eudora got up immediately.
âNo, I can do it by myself!â
She would be in deep trouble if she accepted his help!
After Eudora went into the bathroom, Amos called Clint.
âIâve asked you to tell all the executives to just play along, right?â
Clint replied, âYes! Whatâs the matter? Is Miss Cindy really interested in one of them?â
âNo! Just make sure everything is just part of the show.â
That way, Eudora wouldnât feel pressured!
After hearing Amosâs words, Eudora was finally relieved. Even so, she only fell asleep very late that night.
â¦
The next morning, Cindy packed up her things and prepared to go for a vacation.
Just as she was walking out of the house, she bumped into Charlie at the entrance. She was startled, and their eyes met for a moment.
She wanted to greet him, but before she could say anything, Charlie had already walked past her.
She couldnât help but sigh, and told herself that she was just overthinking.
The driver had just arrived in time, so she got in the car.
On the other side, Charlie stared blankly at the car as it slowly drove away. Two bodyguards walked past him as they chatted.
âSigh, now that Cindy is gone, we wonât have any delicious food to enjoy!â
âThatâs right. When she was here, she would prepare delicious food for us every day.â
âShe helped me do my laundry too!â
âDonât talk about it anymore! She might be going on a destination wedding! That guy from last night is really lucky to have her!â
âWhat did you say? Wedding?â Charlie suddenly asked, shocking the two bodyguards.
âY-Yes! Didnât you see everything last night? That guy was really attentive to her. After the party ended, I saw her talking with Mrs. Granger for a long time and they were talking about a vacation. When I got up this morning, I saw Cindy holding a honeymoon vacation package voucher! Iâm sure she must be getting married.â
Charlie felt a sharp sting in his heart.
He frowned, and the two workers exchanged looks.
âWhat happened to you?â
âItâs nothing!â Charlie turned around and was about to leave. The two of them were still talking about Cindy, âAlthough that guy is really fortunate to marry Cindy, heâs actually quite decent! Heâs both good-looking and capable. I hope that Cindy will lead a happy life in the future!â
âIâm sure she will!â
For some reason, Charlieâs heart felt heavy. Then, he turned back and stared at the two bodyguards.
âStill chit-chatting? Youâre very free, arenât you? Go and run twenty laps now!â
âWhat?â the two of them were staggered. They had no idea what they had done to displease him .
â¦
After returning from the yard, Charlie stood in his room for a while. He felt that his room looked unpleasant all of a sudden.
Next, he turned around and lifted his foot, but accidentally stubbed his toe on a chair. He grimaced in pain.
Only then did he realize that Cindy had always tidied up his room for him when she was still around.
She would also give him delicious food and drinks.
Someone walked past his room just as he was feeling somber.
âWill Cindy ever come back after she leaves this time? Sheâs such a lovely person. I donât think someone as nice as her can be found to take over the job.â
Thinking of Cindy leaving, Charlie laughed bitterly, âLovely person? Didnât she say that she liked me? Itâs only been a few days, and yet sheâs already marrying someone else? Hadnât she only met him once? Does she like him that much?â
Just as he was drowning in his own thoughts, there was a knock on the door.
Someone shouted from the outside, âBoss, thereâs something for you. Are you in there?â
He replied coldly, âCome in!â
The door was pushed open, and a subordinate came in with a brand-new box in his hands. He said, âThe delivery person told me that Cindy ordered this a month ago. Itâs for you!â
Charlie was astounded. He looked at the huge box and reached his hand out to grab it.
