A moment passed.
Monique asked, âWhat did you just say?â
Nelson turned around and answered, âMiss Monique, I know that you are a smart person. Of course, you were well aware that someone in the company was playing tricks in secret! However, just like what Mr. Westin had just said, because they were elders, and you didnât have solid evidence, it was impossible for you to deal with them. Therefore, you took this opportunity to see how I would deal with them. So, Miss Monique, do you like the way I handled them?â
Rishard finally understood what they were talking about. He looked at Nelson in shock.
Monique showed a little admiration in her eyes, âWell done. I like that you have the courage to confront them face-to-face. Itâs smart of you too to notice that they were acting strangely. This time, youâve done a good job.â
Monique had always liked smart people. She couldnât hide her admiration towards Nelson. She had initially thought that Nelson would be in a mess upon her arrival.
She initially thought that Nelson would either back down, or fight on till the end. If one of the scenarios had really happened, she would have taken the opportunity to get rid of him.
However, unexpectedly, he had settled the problem brilliantly.
She had not met such an excellent person in a long time.
Moniqueâs eyes swept over Nelson in appreciation.
âThis time, since youâve solved the problem nicely, Iâll forget about the compensation fees! However, I do have to remind you about the task. Thereâs not much time left. If you cannot complete your task within the given time, then thatâs it.â
Nelson nodded and said, âI will definitely complete it!â
Monique opened her mouth. She was about to say that it wouldnât matter if Nelson was unable to finish his task on time. However, seeing how determined Nelson was, she took back her words.
âGood!â
After Monique left, Richard stared at Nelson in surprise.
âMr. Luther, when did you find out? How come I never knew about it?â
Nelson smiled faintly and said, âI guess, itâs just pure luck! If thereâs nothing else, Iâd like to get off work.â
Richard raised his eyebrows, âAre you going to meet Miss George?â
Nelson remained silent, but his face told everything!
Richard frowned again, âRegarding Miss Chiltonâ¦â
âDidnât Miss Chilton ask us to complete the task as soon as possible?â replied Nelson.
Richard thought to himself, âAre you really going there to complete the task? Or are you just going to go on a date?â
Never mind, forget about it! Richard shut his mouth.
âItâs good that you know!â
Richard finally said.
He watched Nelson walk out the door, and let out a sigh.
â¦
Naomi received a call from Nelson as soon as she got off work.
âAre you free tonight? Letâs have dinner together!â
Naomi was dying to meet Nelson, but as she recalled what Amos said the day before, she let out a sigh.
âI⦠I have to go home for dinner.â
With a bouquet of flowers in his hand, Nelson froze.
When Nelson had passed by a flower shop a moment ago, he couldnât resist the temptation and had bought Naomi a bouquet of flowers. To his disappointment, his flowers would have to go to waste.
âAre those your fatherâs instructions?â
Naomi was startled and shook her head hurriedly, âNo, no, itâs because⦠Itâs because my mom hasnât been feeling well recently. Therefore, I have to be at home for dinner more often. Let me call you back when Iâm free!â
âOkay!â answered Nelson.
Nelson knew that she was purposely hiding the truth from him, so he did not try to expose her.
After Naomi hung up, she looked at her phone, feeling upset.
âWhy doesnât Dad like Nelson at all? Nelson is actually a pretty good man!â she complained to herself.
While she was deep in her thoughts, her colleague pushed her arm and said, âHey, someoneâs looking for you!â
Naomi did not have to raise her head as she knew who it was. She was sure that it was Clint, who had specially come to remind her that it was time to go home.
âOkay,â she said. âIâll be right out.â
â¦
In the evening, Naomi was in a bad mood at the dining table. After taking a few bites, she pushed her plate away and said, âIâm full!â
Eudora looked at her curiously. âAre you not feeling well? Why are you eating so little?â
Naomi was not an ordinary girl with a small appetite. She exercised regularly, so she had a strong and healthy body. She ate more food than a normal girl usually would.
Amos watcher her actions He said calmly, âItâs okay. Donât worry about her.â
Then, he placed a piece of meat onto Eudoraâs plate, âCome on, this is your favorite, eat more. You havenât been feeling well recently.â
âOkay,â Eudora said. She then ate the small piece of meat.
It was indeed delicious.
Cindy had been working for them for a long time, so the food she prepared suited their tastes well.
Just as Eudora was thinking about it, Cindy came over and said, âMadam, the kitchen is cleaned. If thereâs nothing else, I wish to go out for a while. Just leave the dishes here, and Iâll clean them when I come back.â
Eudora immediately smiled. âAre you going on a date with Charlie? Go, go! I can do the dishes!â
Cindyâs face suddenly turned red, âNo! Itâs just, since heâs nearbyâ¦â
âI understand! Look at the two of you. You two have been in love for so many years. Hurry up and get together. Look at Naomi and Sugar Bun, they are all grown up now, and yet the two of you are still not married! Tell Charlie, if he doesnât make a move soon, I will arrange a blind date for you!â
âI donât want a blind date!â Cindy said, as if she was faced with an enemy.
Eudora facepalmed, âSilly girl, I was just kidding! Why are you so naïve?â
No wonder Cindy had been practicing fighting since young. She was indeed a straightforward and honest woman!
âForget it, you should go now!â
After Eudora finished speaking, Cindy turned around and left.
As soon as she got outside, she saw Charlieâs shadow. He was almost at the end of the street. She rushed forward and caught up with him. âCharlie, wait for me!â
Charlie stopped, feeling a little annoyed.
âWhy are you here?â
âDidnât you say that youâre going shopping? Thatâs why I told Mrs. Granger that I will be out for a while. I want to accompany you!â
âNo need!â Charlie shook his head. âI can do it by myself.â
âItâs okay, since Iâm already here, just let me accompany you! You men are not good at buying things. What if you buy something bad?â
Charlie frowned, âCindy, Iâve told you many times! You donât have to be so kind to me! Youâre not young anymore. Youâd better go and get married quickly!â
Cindyâs heart, which had initially been filled with joy and excitement, was suddenly shattered into pieces.
Truth be told, Eudoraâs assumptions were completely wrong. They had never been in love with each other all these years, Cindyâs love had always been one-sided as Charlie had never liked her. Furthermore, ever since he found out that she liked him, he seemed to hate her even more.
Cindy let out a sigh. She then caught up with him again.
âItâs my freedom to be kind to anyone. Itâs none of your business.â
Charlie scowled. âThen donât follow me around, okay?â
âIâm not following you. Iâm just walking along this path. Iâll go anywhere I want to! Do you think youâre the only one who can walk on this path?â
Charlie was speechless.
âFine. Itâs up to you!â
Cindy breathed a sigh of relief and followed him quickly.
After they arrived at the shopping mall, Charlie filled his basket with daily necessities as usual.
Cindy followed behind him and took out his items one-by-one, âThis shampoo is not good. Youâve used it before, and it made you lose a lot of hair. Donât you remember? And this, this isnât good either. Didnât you say that it smelled bad last time? I still remember! Buy this one. Iâve asked someone to try it, and itâs very suitable for men. It smells good too. Here, give it a smell!â
Charlie did not even bother to give it a sniff as he walked away.
Cindy put the things down in a hurry and chased after him again.
