Naomi looked at the pan with much anxiety.
âThis wonât explode, right?â
Nelson shook his head and reassured her, âNo, it wonât. You can put it in slowly!â
Naomi held the piece of salmon in her hands and moved forward towards the pan a little. Then, she backed away in a timid way.
She said, âIâm still a little scared!â
At the moment, she was no longer as tough as she had been when she fought with those men that night. She had become like a little girl who was facing her fears. It was an adorable scene.
Nelson really loved the way she looked at the moment.
He reached out his hand and held her arm as he cajoled, âSlowly put it down like thisâ¦â
Before his voice faded, the water on the salmon came into contact with the oil on the pan, making some noise and frightening Naomi. As a result, she jumped straight into Nelson.
Her legs were wrapped around his waist, and her arms were tightly wound around his neck.
âDidnât you say it wouldnât explode?â
Nelson could not help but laugh and say, âIt really didnât!â
Naomi turned around in doubt, only to hear the sizzling sound of the pan of oil behind her. The salmon that she had placed was already smelling good.
âThere really was no explosion!â
âSo, why donât you come down from me now?â
Naomi was embarrassed and hurriedly let go of her grip. She did not forget to check on his injuries. She asked, âAre you alright? How do you feel? Your wounds didnât split open, right?â
Nelson shook his head and said, âOf course not. How can I be that weak?â
Naomi let out a sigh of relief and turned to slowly observe the salmon.
âYou can flip the salmon over now!â Nelson reminded her. Naomi replied in assent and hurriedly turned the salmon over to its other side.
With the mishap just now, Naomi was no longer that nervous.
Later onwards, under Nelsonâs instructions, she finished preparing all the dishes.
After a long hustle, she finally knew how hard it was to cook. She looked back at how often Sugar Bun and herself had asked their mom to cook for them. Doing so must have been hard on her.
âGo and get changed. Itâs time to eat!â Nelson reminded her. Only then did she come back to her senses.
She replied, âAlright!â
Naomi was covered with the smell of raw salmon and smoke. So, she decided to take a bath. After changing into clean clothes, she came out.
As soon as she opened the door, the room was dark!
Naomi was stunned and subconsciously turned around to look at her room.
There was no power outage!
âNelson?â Naomi called out in a low voice. At the same time, a sudden âclickâ sounded from the dining area, and a flame was ignited.
A candle could be seen vaguely.
âCome here, quick!â
Naomi closed the bedroom door behind her and slowly walked over. Nelson had set up a candlelight dinner.
As soon as Naomi walked over, Nelson reached out his hand to help her pull back her seat.
Naomi noticed that Nelson had changed his clothes. He wore a dark grey suit, which had been brought by Richard, and looked very stylish.
Just as she looked at the table, she heard a teasing chuckle.
âWhatâs wrong? Why are you staring so blankly?â
Naomi came back to her senses and said, âIâm notâ¦â
Nelson did not expose her. Instead, he picked up the glass in front of him and twirled it, âWould you like to try some? Iâve asked Richard to prepare this!â
Naomi did not hesitate and picked up the glass to take a sip.
âItâs good.â
As the daughter of Amos Granger, although there were many things that she disliked, she still needed to be knowledgeable in them. After all, she was still the daughter of a rich and powerful family. She could not be laughed at when she was outside.
Upon seeing her calm appearance, Nelson remembered the time when he had first started to go to school. Due to his lack of knowledge regarding this matter since childhood, he had spent an immense amount of effort to study them.
At that time, even the teacher had laughed at him.
His eyes darkened as he looked back at those past memories. He then suppressed them in his brain.
âItâs good that you like it! Letâs taste the dishes that youâve cooked.â
This time, Naomi was a little hesitant.
She was a little suspicious as she asked, âAre they really edible?â
Nelson picked up a piece of food with a fork and put it in his mouth. He exclaimed, âItâs delicious!â
Naomiâs eyes lit up. She took a bite and swallowed it without any expectations.
âItâs so salty!â
That dish required some salt. However, since she was a beginner, she had failed to put in the correct amount of salt in the dish as Nelson had instructed.
Perhaps due to being in a state of frenzy, she had added double the amount of salt required into the dish.
It was so salty that tears came out from her eyes. She jumped to look for some water to drink.
âItâs too salty!â
Nelson had originally wanted to joke around with her, but now that he noticed that she was in actual pain, he also got up and helped her to get the iced water.
Even after drinking the cup of water, she could still taste the salt.
Naomiâs tongue was stinging. Her mother had a colorful palette. Although Naomi loved savory dishes, she had never eaten such a salty dish before.
Naomi could no longer feel her tongue.
âWhat should I do? Itâs still really saltyâ¦â
Nelson frowned and said, âIâm sorry. I didnât think that it was that salty.â
Naomi shook her head and wanted to say that it was not his fault. However, the next instant, Nelson had already lowered his head and kissed her on his lips.
Naomi was stunned. She tried to stop him but could only afford to mumble a few words, âHmph⦠What are you doing?â
Nelson curved his lips and said, âDidnât we say that we would share our joys and hardships? So, weâll also share the same food.â
After that, he lowered his head again.
The candlelight added to the flirtatious atmosphere of the room.
Perhaps it was because she had drank some wine, or perhaps it was because she was in love, it was only when Naomi was laid on the bed with Nelson in her arms that she came to her senses. They seemed to have gone a little overboard.
Naomi looked at Nelson who got up and walked toward the bathroom. She rubbed her forehead, feeling a little embarrassed as she thought of how things had escalated to this point.
Just as she was in deep contemplation, Nelson opened the door and came out from the bathroom.
âStop overthinking!â
Naomi was embarrassed and turned around as her ears turned a little red. She asked, âWhy didnât you put on your clothes?â
Nelson lowered his head to look at himself. He wasnât stark naked but only shirtless, with a bath towel covering his body.
âI thought youâve seen my whole body already?â
Naomi covered her face and demanded, âStop! Stop right there!â
Nelson smiled and said, âAlright, alright! I thought my girlfriend wouldnât be so shy though.â
Naomi said shyly, âI-I better return to my roomâ¦â
However, before she could go out, Nelson pulled her back.
âThis is your room!â
âNo, this is yours!â
âWhatâs mine is yours!â
Nelson took Naomi into his arms once again as he said, âWhen we leave here tomorrow, I will find a way to talk to Mr. Granger about our marriage.â
Naomi was stunned and said, âNo, donât do that. Itâs better for me to speak to my parents first!â
She felt that she had really been too bold this time. She had a short fuse and liked to stick to her own decisions ever since she was a child.
However, this was the first time that she did not listen to her parents.
She had no idea what kind of resistance she would face from the Granger family. She only knew that this problem would definitely not be easy to solve.
Even so, Naomi was still filled with hope when she thought of being together with the person she loved.
She finally understood how her parents had gone through so many ups and downs together.
