Naomi was in contemplation when her colleague next to her noticed her.
Her colleague asked, âWhatâs wrong? Look at you, youâre like a young girl longing for love. Are you going on a date?â
Doubtlessly, her colleague was incredibly perceptive.
She could see through Naomi at once.
Before Naomi had a chance to explain herself, her colleague said, âSince itâs a date, you must dress up properly! You usually wear a pantsuit or sportswear so I think you should try putting on a dress!â
Naomi was taken aback as she asked, âA dress?â
The last time she had put on a dress was when she was five or six years old.
She had never worn a dress again, especially after beginning to practice self defense.
âA dress would be inconvenient, wouldnât it?â
âWhatâs so inconvenient about that? What kind of girl doesnât wear a dress? You should know that dresses are the best garment to show off a girlâs charm!â
Naomi struggled to reply, âFine, Iâll give it a try then.â
After that, her colleague kindly brought her to a boutique that she frequented. She picked out a dress for Naomi and helped her to put on some makeup.
Some time later, Naomi was about to take a look at herself in front of the mirror when her cell phone rang.
It was Nelson and he asked, âWhere are you? Iâll pick you up!â
Naomi told him the address of the boutique.
Then, she looked at her colleague nervously, âDo I look alright? Do I need to change my clothes?â
Her colleague reassured her resolutely, âThereâs no need for that! Youâre more gorgeous than the current actresses and celebrities in showbiz!â
Naomi reckoned that her colleague was exaggerating, but in reality, she really wasnât.
In the past, Eudora had once been the most beautiful woman in Rosaville City. Coupled with Amosâs handsomeness, their children would naturally be good-looking as well.
It was just that Naomi had never cared about her appearances.
âAlright, alright. Stop worrying about it! I can guarantee that your boyfriend will like it a lot. Just go out and wait for him to come!â
â¦
Nelson hung up on the call while Richardâs lips curved into a smile.
âMr. Luther, youâre infatuated with her, arenât you? Youâve just been discharged from the hospital, yet youâre already going on a date? By the way, I canât imagine what outfit Miss George will turn up in.â
Nelson pursed his lips and said, âThatâs none of your business!â
Richard was startled but still he said, âYouâre already defending her! How can you still insist that you arenât in love with her?â
Nelson furrowed his brow and said, âStop talking nonsense and mind your own business.â
Richard shut up and said, âFine, itâs all my fault.â
Just then, the driver in the front reminded him, âSir, weâve arrived!â
Before Nelson got out of the car, Richard, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, was already awed.
âWow, Iâm so lucky today. I saw a great beauty standing by the roadside!â
Nelson was about to get out of the car and he didnât care to look back, only reprimanding in a low voice, âYou better behave yourself!â
âBut sheâs really as pretty as those popular actresses!â
Nelson raised his head and looked curiously at the person mentioned by Richard, dazzled in an instant.
The girl in front of him was wearing a white dress with fluffy feather-like adornment which had taken away the toughness of her aura. Instead, Naomi looked elegant and graceful, full of femininity.
She did not tie up her long hair behind her head as usual. Instead, her long locks tumbled over her shoulders down loosely and she only had a diamond-studded hairpin clasped on her left side.
No matter how he looked at her, she looked as gentle and amiable as the girl next door.
He couldnât help but recall what Naomi had looked like when he had seen her for the first time. At that time, they were still in the Granger family.
Back then, Naomi was only six years old. She wore a white princess dress and looked like a doll.
Her big eyes were so captivating that she attracted peopleâs attention at a glance.
Nelson was lost in thought when Richard opened the door and got of the car.
âSir, why arenât you heading over to your date? Iâm going to approach that wonderful beauty over there.â
Nelsonâs heart skipped a beat as he shouted at Richard in a low voice, âStay where you are!â
âThatâs Naomi!â
A look of shock crossed Richardâs face as he said in disbelief, âWhat?â
âGet back here!â
After that, Nelson no longer waited for Richardâs response. He immediately stepped out of the car and walked towards Naomi.
It wasnât until Richard saw him holding Naomiâs hand and the two of them walked away that Richard suddenly came to a realization.
âShe really is Naomi!â
â¦
Naomi had been waiting for Nelson, but before she could even react, he had already pulled her away.
Not only had she worn a dress, but she had also been cajoled by her colleague into putting on a pair of high heels. As a result, she was almost unable to walk after being tugged on by him.
âNelson, what are you doing?â
Noticing that Naomi felt a little uncomfortable while wearing high heels, Nelson frowned.
He ordered her, âPlease donât wear this kind of shoes in the future!â
Naomi agreed with him and said, âI think so too. My feet are hurting!â
âAnd this dress too! Donât wear it ever again!â
Upon hearing that, Naomi grew a little sad and asked, âIs it no good?â
Nelson blurted out, âIt doesnât look good on you!â
Naomi felt discouraged.
After all, it was still a date. Everyone would be disheartened if their partnerâs first impression of them was negative.
However, Amos had said that she must remain calm all the time so that people would not be able to see through her.
She took a deep breath and was about to answer him.
However, in the next second, Nelson reacted again.
This time, he complimented her, âIt looks gorgeous on you!â
After saying so, Nelson was also confused by his own actions.
He had no idea why he felt uncomfortable upon seeing her disappointment.
However, Naomi was incredibly pleased to hear his compliment.
âAlthough I know that you might just be comforting me, Iâm still elated. Thank you!â
Naomi beamed at him and said, âLetâs go. Arenât we going to have dinner?â
Feeling a little exasperated, Nelson thought to himself with tenderness in his eyes, âSilly girl!â
â¦
Their destination was near their meeting spot, thus the two of them walked over there by foot.
They had to cross a street halfway through the route. Unfortunately, it was difficult for Naomi to walk with high heels. Nelson, who had originally been leading the way in front of her, came back and held her hand at the sight of her clumsiness.
Naomi felt the caress of his heat on her hand, the feeling spreading across her body.
âSo, this is how love feels like,â she paused and thought about it.
Then, she couldnât help but think about a scene in a drama that she had watched, one where a couple were holding hands while crossing the street. To her, it looked so romantic.
A shadow flashed past her abruptly.
Someone shouted behind them, âStop! You thief!â
Naomi came into her senses soon after that shout. She let go of Nelsonâs hand, took off her high heels, hitched up her dress and chased after the thief, barefooted.
âStop right there!â
Nelson watched in dismay as she ran after the thief. He shouted at her, âNaomi!â
However, Naomi was unable to hear his calls at all because she was so focused on chasing the thief. She threw one of her high heels and it struck the thiefâs leg. Consequently, he fell to the ground.
Naomi quickly came up to him and stepped on his chest.
âI dare you to run again!â
Nelson caught up to them shortly afterwards. He couldnât help but hold his face in his hands and grit his teeth as he said to her, âNaomi, I canât believe you did all that despite wearing a dress!â
