Eudoraâs heartbeat echoed in his ears.
Her heartbeat was rapid and full of life.
Eudora asked again, âDo you still dare to say that itâs not skipping a beat?â
In the next instant, Amos raised his head and kissed her again.
âLetâs make it beat a little more rapidly then!â
â¦
Downstairs, in the living room.
Upon coming out, Gordon saw the two children playing. He walked over and stroked Jujuâs head.
He asked, âWhere are your parents?â
Juju immediately gave Gordon a sweet smile.
âGrandpa, Iâm grateful that you told me that they were quarreling. Sugar Bun and I helped them though. Currently, they should be making up with each other.â
Gordon was incredibly satisfied and said, âThatâs good! Whenever they quarrel again in the future, you and Sugar Bun have to help them!â
Juju looked troubled and said, âBut Grandpa, Dad looked strange when he got angry. Iâm afraid I wouldnât be able to tell when he gets angry again in the future! Grandpa, can you tell me when he does in the future?â
Gordon pursed his lips and said, âOf course!â
âHowever, I donât know how long I can live to tell you!â he thought to himself.
Juju smiled and said, âThank you, Grandpa. Youâre the best!â
Gordan glanced at Sugar Bun. As if recalling something, he took out something from his pocket and handed it to Juju and Sugar Bun respectively.
âThis is a gift from me. Keep it well. Take it out when Grandpa is no longer here in the future!â
Sugar Bun was confused as he stared at the gift for a long time, unable to tell what it was. He thought it was an ordinary toy blockâ¦
Juju was a little older, therefore she asked, âGrandpa, didnât you say that you wouldnât leave? Where are you going?â
Gordon sighed and said, âIâll try my best not to leave. However, this is just a precaution just in case I suddenly want to go travelling in the future.â
Juju nodded and said, âOkay! Iâll keep it well for Grandpa. When you return, Iâll give it back to you!â
âOkay!â Gordon nodded.
âThen, Grandpa will play another fun game with the two of you today!â
âYes! Yes!â
The three of them played together for the entire afternoon. As Eudora went downstairs, she heard cheers and laughter.
Sugar Bun, who was filled with excitement, said, âMommy, Grandpa made this! Itâs a princessâs castle!â
Eudora looked at the castle, but felt like it was a world away.
âThis isâ¦â
Gordon smiled embarrassedly and said, âThis is the castle you wanted me to make for you when you were a kid. Do you still remember?â
Eudora indeed did remember that. That was the reason why she felt that it was strange!
âItâs been so many years, and you still remember?â
Gordon nodded and said, âOf course I do! That time, you told me that your school assigned a parent-child project and you told me to come back earlier to help you complete it. You also sent me the drawing. However, I couldnât come back because I had an urgent meeting! In the end, you got zero marks because you didnât hand it in!â
Those sad matters in the past no longer seemed to feel so sorrowful anymore.
Perhaps it was because she had already gone through them, therefore she felt that they were just trivial matters!
âEudora, Iâm sorry.â
Eudora shook her head and said, âNo, Dad, donât say that.â
She used to hate Gordon. However, later, she found that Gordon was the victim instead, and he had done his best. How could she blame him?
She continued, âItâs my fault. I wasnât good enough of a daughter!â
Gordon also shook his head and said, âNo, you were excellent!â
Eudora wanted to say more, but Gordon changed the topic and said, âLetâs not talk about that already. I remember that when your mother was still alive, she liked to make our Rosaville Cityâs specialty, Beef Wellington! I donât know why, but I suddenly want to eat it today.â
âIâll make it then!â Eudora laughed. âWhat great timing. Iâve been lazing around for a few days. Iâll cook a few more dishes today, and youâll be able to enjoy a hearty meal!â
Gordon nodded and replied, âOkay! Iâm looking forward to it!â
Gordon watched as Eudora walked into the kitchen. He reached his hand out and rubbed his stomach, frowning in pain.
â¦
Eudora was busy the whole afternoon and cooked a table full of dishes.
Rosaville City was well known by many cities in the country for its delicious food. It just so happened that there were a lot of ingredients in her house due to it being the holidays, thus in addition to the few kinds of dishes that Gordon had mentioned, she had also made many other delicious ones.
There were also various kinds of snacks and pastries on the table.
Gordonâs mind was filled with memories as he looked at the table.
âYes, this was how it looked like! When Emily was still alive, she had always set the table this way during the holidays! Although I know that she didnât prepare them specially for me, but each time I saw the table full of dishes, I felt extremely happy.â
Eudora pursed her lips and said, âDad, letâs not talk about that anymore. Would you like to taste the dishes that Iâve prepared?â
âAlright!â Gordon took his fork, picked up a piece of fish and put it in his mouth.
âItâs delicious! It tastes exactly the same as your motherâs!â
âWe want to eat too!â Juju and Sugar Bun cried out.
âOkay, thereâs enough for everyone here!â Eudora stretched her hands out and carried the two children to the table. The whole family ate happily together.
After the meal, Juju and Sugar Bun wanted to watch television with Gordon.
Gordon reached out and carried the children in his arms, walking towards the television.
Eudora helped Cindy to clean up the plates. Gordon had just taken two steps when he suddenly turned around and spoke to Eudora.
Gordon had just taken two steps when he suddenly turned around and spoke to Eudora, âWomen should not work so hard. You should know when to rest when youâre spoiled by your husband! Donât make it hard for yourself, okay?â
Gordanâs sentence was baffling. Eudora was stunned for a moment before she laughed.
âDad, Iâm not tired!â
Gordon turned his head and suddenly put Sugar Bun down from his arms, making him look at Gordon pitifully and say, âGrandpa, hug me!â
Gordon shook his head and suddenly reached out to cover Sugar Bunâs eyes.
Then, a mouthful of blood spurted out of his mouth.
When Eudora heard the sound of the vomiting, the plate in her hand fell to the ground with a thud.
âDad!â
She ran over to Gordonâs side in a hurry, but Gordon was already on the verge of collapsing. Still he held his last breath and covered Sugar Bunâs eyes tightly.
âT-take the ch-child awayâ¦â
âCindy! Cindy!â Eudora shouted. âCarry Sugar Bun and Juju back to their rooms!â
Cindy nodded immediately, and then Eudora called for Charlie loudly, âQuick, call an ambulance!â
Gordon shook his head and said, âEudora, thereâs no need for that! I know I canât make it anymore! Iâm just a little reluctant to leave you.â
Eudoraâs tears poured down like rainfall. She cried, âDad, donât talk nonsense. Youâre in good health, so why wonât you make it?â
âIâm telling you the truth,â Gordon laughed as he recalled what the doctor said to him half a month ago.
The doctor had told him, âIâm sorry, but weâve found a tumor in your stomach. Itâs at the final stage! You arenât recommended to receive any treatment at the moment! If you have any unfulfilled wishes, itâs better to make them come true now.â
