In Clearwater Bay.
It was getting dark, but Eudora had not returned home yet.
Amos grew a little anxious, thus he gave the company a call to check on her.
âAre you all still working?â
Clint had been busy all day because he had been dealing with some matters on Eudoraâs behalf. Hearing this, he said, âEveryone else has gone off work! Miss George has left too! Did somethingâ¦â Before he could finish speaking, Amos had already hung up the phone.
He asked Cindy to take care of Sugar Bun, and immediately called Charlie.
He ordered, âConduct an investigation immediately. Find out where Eudora has gone!â
Charlie was anxious as well. Lately, something major would happen to Eudora and Amos once every few days. Now that she was missing, he felt even more on edge.
He no longer dared to delay for a second and immediately went to investigate her whereabouts.
A moment later, Charlie came back to inform Amos.
He said, âIâve tracked the GPS in Madamâs shoes and phone. Theyâre not in the same location. Iâm guessing that she has lost her phone! Iâll send someone to where she is currentlyâ¦â
âIâll head over there!â Amos said, âFind out what happened to her phone!â
âGot it!â Charlie said.
â¦
Meanwhile, Eudora was asking passersby to lend her a phone to make a call. Since the child had snatched her purse and phone away, she was unable to go home.
Most of the people, however, were skeptical of her and rejected her request. After speaking with many people, Eudora finally was able to borrow a young ladyâs phone.
Eudora called home, and Cindy answered the call. She told Eudora that Amos was on his way to pick her up.
Eudora saw a familiar car speeding over before she could end the call. Before she could return the phone to the young lady, a tall shadow had already enveloped her.
âAre you all right?â
The young lady seemed to be frightened. Eudora hurriedly handed the phone over to her and thanked her.
Then, she turned to look at Amos, âIâm fine!â
Amos looked at her from head to toe and finally fixed his eyes on Eudoraâs feet.
He asked, âYouâre hurt?â
Eudora pretended to calm as she replied, âIâm fine. Itâs no big deal. Itâll heal on its own!â
Amos ignored her and picked her up in his arms, âLetâs go home!â
Upon returning home, Amos quickly called a doctor. Eudora took the time to play with Sugar Bun while he was on the call. She did not care about her injury at all.
She remained calm even when the doctor arrived to treat her.
âItâs okay! Itâs just a small matter. Donât make such a big fuss!â
The doctor looked at Eudoraâs red and swollen ankle and said, âAlthough thereâs no injury on the bones, youâve still sprained your ankle. If you donât give it the proper treatment it needs, your recovery will be affected!â
âItâs fine! My husband doesnât mind at all!â Eudora muttered.
Amos frowned while giving Eudora a meaningful look.
âTreat it well!â he ordered.
The doctor quickly wrapped her ankle.
The doctor advised, âBe careful to not walk around too much these days. Apply the ointment every day and massage the area around your ankle. Itâll help with the recovery and prevent any possible complications.â
Amos nodded and asked Cindy to send the doctor out.
The doctor had just warned Eudora not to move around, but as soon as Amos came back, he saw her jumping around and dancing in front of Sugar Bun.
He was so angry that he hurriedly went over and put her down, âWhy are you being so disobedient? Didnât you hear what the doctor just said?â
Eudora smiled innocently, âDonât worry. Iâve said that itâs no big deal! Besides, I feel fine!â
Something was wrong!
Amos could sense that she was acting weird. She must have had something going through her mind.
Without batting an eyelid, he pinched her cheek, âDonât be so cheeky! Youâre a mother, yet youâre still so disobedient! Sugar Bun, do you think itâs okay for Mom to act like this when sheâs injured?â
Sugar Bun showed no reaction at first. However, when he heard Amos mention that Eudora was injured, he threw a tantrum instantly.
He grabbed Eudoraâs arm with his chubby little hand and shook it aggressively.
He scolded, âMom, you are a bad girl. Listen to Dad!â
Eudora was rendered speechless.
After Eudora sat down, Amos went upstairs.
He called out for Charlie, âHowâs it going? Any updates about the phone?â
The expression on Charlieâs face was a little solemn as he said, âThe wallet and the money inside have been taken away. Even the money in the phone has been transferred away. However, they left the phone behind.â
Amos was curious, âThatâs interesting. Itâs smart that the thief didnât take the phone.â
After a pause, Charlie said, âIâve investigated further and found out that the person who stole the phone is probably someone we know!â
âWho?â Amos was curious.
âVincent Granger!â
Amos was shocked as he asked, âDidnât I send him abroad?â
After the previous incident, although he was not a legitimate child of the Granger family, Amos still sent him abroad to be more humane.
He wanted Vincent to receive top-tier education!
Charlie shook his head, âIâm not sure about that, but Iâm sure that heâs behind this!â
âWhere is he? Have you caught him?â
Charlie shook his head, âNo, we havenât! That group of people is quite vigilant! They had already evacuated before our arrival.â
Amos frowned and thought about Vincent. Why had he done such a thing? He felt helpless as Vincent was Jujuâs classmate and was quite smart himself.
âKeep looking! Let me know immediately when you find him. Whereâs the phone? Give it to me.â
Charlie handed the phone over to Amos.
Amos gripped it hard and then said, âI asked you to find out why Eudora was in that area today. Have you found anything?â
It was easy to find out. Charlie nodded, âYes! Madam had gone to Doctor Leonâs clinic. I heard that the doctor that Doctor Leon arranged for you has arrived!â
Amos immediately understood what was going on!
She must have met up with the doctor there and was now trying to convince him to undergo the operation.
She had deliberately pretended to be indifferent and refused to be treated.
Amos was both angry and amused. He was angry because she had neglected her own health and safety to persuade him. However, he felt that it was ridiculous for her to say that he was the childish one.
Truthfully, she was the most childish person in the world!
âGot it!â Amos nodded. âContinue investigating!â
Charlie knew that Amos was trying to avoid treatment. He had still hoped to convince him to seek medical attention. He was well aware, however, that the only person who could persuade him was Eudora, second to none!
He quickly asked, âWhat are your plans then?â
Amos looked out of the window and saw his face reflected in the glass.
âWhat do you think?â
Charlie burst out laughing almost instantly, âI understand what youâre trying to say! Youâre going to receive the treatment, arenât you?â
Amos let out a sigh. Eudora was so stubborn. If he failed to agree to undergo treatment, he could not imagine what lengths she would go to.
Moreover, he wanted to be at his best because he had already agreed to be with her!
