The next morning, Eudora was awakened by her phoneâs ringtone.
After answering the call, she heard Clintâs anxious voice.
âMadam, where are you?â
Eudora was stunned for a moment. Only then did she realize that she was actually in an unfamiliar place. The decorations around her were solemn.
She suddenly sat up, her head no longer feeling as heavy as it had been yesterday.
Just as she was about to open her mouth, she saw a figure walking in.
She was stunned and said to Clint on the other end of the call, âIâm fine. Whatâs wrong? Did Sugar Bun miss me because I didnât go back?â
âNo, someone had already informed Cindy last night that you have something important to deal with and canât come back for the time being.â
âTherefore, Cindy took good care of the little master. You can be rest assured.â
Eudora breathed a sigh of relief, âAlright. Iâll go back later.â
After hanging up the phone, she looked at the man who came in.
He was still fully clad in black. He had a plate in his hand, in which there was breakfast.
âHow do you feel?â he asked.
His voice was low and hoarse.
âOh, I feel much better!â Eudora nodded. Clint had mentioned that someone had informed Cindy, so she thought the person might have been him.
So, she opened her mouth again.
She said, âThank you for informing my family.â
Sawyer did not say anything and put the breakfast on the table.
He said, âBreakfast is ready. Eat something before you leave!â
Eudora hurriedly shook her head, âNo thanks. Iâll just grab something along the way.â
âYou havenât taken your medicine yet,â Sawyer reminded her.
Eudora responded with an âohâ. She then looked for her bag, grabbed the medicine, and was about to put it into her mouth when Sawyer grabbed her by the wrist.
âYouâre taking medicine without eating? Thatâs bad for your stomach! Is this how you take care of yourself?â
Eudora was stunned and looked suspiciously at Sawyer.
At that moment, she had an illusion. She felt as if the man in front of her was Amos.
Subconsciously, she reached her hand out, trying to touch the blurry face.
However, Sawyer took a step back before she could reach him. The illusion was broken.
Eudoraâs heart went cold, and she hurriedly withdrew her hand.
âItâs okay. My stomach is quite strong!â
Sawyer was angry, âNo matter how good your stomach is, you canât act like this. Eat something before you take your medicine!â
âThereâs really no need for that!â Eudora said, âHowever, thank you so much. Iâll ask my secretary to prepare breakfast for me when I get back!â
After saying that, she turned to leave, but seemed to think of something that made her turn around again.
âBy the way, youâve saved me, but I havenât thanked you yet. If you need anything, just tell me.â
Sawyer shook his head, âNo, thanks.â
Eudora was in a daze, so he gave an explanation.
âOh, you gave me an umbrella the last time. This time, I just happened to pass by to give you one.â
Eudora nodded, âAlright then!â
When she walked outside, she realized that she had given him the umbrella to thank him for helping her on the mountain. Strictly speaking, she still owed him one!
Rubbing her temples, Eudora sighed.
Forget it! She would thank him again another time.
Meanwhile, after Eudora had left, Sawyer stood alone at the dining table. He was looking at the table full of delicacies.
Most of them were Eudoraâs favorite.
He let out a bitter laugh, picked up the plate, and was about to throw it away when Elaine, who was sitting on the sofa next to him, opened her eyes slowly.
âDonât throw the food away. What a waste to throw away so much food. I havenât had my breakfast yet!â
Sawyer paused for a moment and put the plate back on the table.
âClean up after youâre done.â
âNo problem,â Elaine said with a smile.
As for Sawyer, he walked over to the couch and sat down. Then, he got lost in thought.
Elaine was enjoying the food on her own, âYummy, itâs really delicious. I didnât expect you to be so good at cooking. Youâre really such a good man.â
Sawyer did not reply, so Elaine decided to test the waters again.
âHey, Sawyer, do you have someone you like? If you donât, letâs get together. Iâm always busy and have no time to take care of my home. My house is messier than yours. If we get together, Iâll be in charge of earning the money, and you can take care of the houseâ¦â
The more Elaine spoke, the more she felt that it was a good suggestion.
When she turned around and saw that Sawyer looked like he had not been listening at all, she frowned and shouted, âSawyer, did you hear me?â
It was only then did Sawyer raise his head, but he did not answer her question. Instead, he asked, âDo you have any photos or videos from last nightâs banquet?â
In that instant, Elaine went slack and felt like a deflated balloon.
âNo, I donât.â
âCan you find a way to get them for me?â asked Sawyer.
Elaine nodded while chewing bread in her mouth. âOh, thatâs doable. I know the host of the banquet.â
âThen, Iâll have to trouble you! If you need my help with the website, you can look for me.â
After saying that, he stood up and went to the bedroom.
Elaine looked at the closed door and pouted.
He really was such an insensitive man!
â¦
When Eudora returned to the company, she saw Clint standing at the entrance.
Clint heaved a sigh of relief when he saw her, âMadam, itâs good that youâre back! Thereâs only one important meeting in the morning. Iâve postponed the other meetings in the afternoon to tomorrow. As for Miss Jujuâs breakfast, Iâve asked Cindy to prepare it and send it over as youâve ordered!â
Eudora nodded. She was quite busy herself, so sometimes, she would cook some of the food beforehand.
The next day, she would not need to start from scratch. Since it was still relatively fresh, it would still taste good.
When they arrived at the office, Clint handed the breakfast in his hands to Eudora.
âMadam, you donât look too well. Have some food first!â
Eudora glanced at the breakfast, âWhy did you think of getting me breakfast today?â
Clint replied calmly, âTruth be told, itâs a coincidence. When I was coming to the office, I received a strange phone call. That person was probably calling his boss to ask about what he wanted for breakfast. I told him it was the wrong number then I suddenly thought of you.â
Eudora couldnât help but laugh, âIâm glad that you had thought of me because of that.â
It just so happened that she was going to take medicine, so she took the breakfast over and started eating.
Then, she got up and went to the meeting room.
The meeting went on for a while and it was almost eleven oâclock when it ended.
As soon as Eudora came out of the meeting room, Clint came forward again and looked anxiously at Eudora.
âMadam, did anything happen to you yesterday at the banquet?â
Eudora was stunned. She thought that nothing from the banquet would be leaked to the media. Could it be that the incident had been published in the newspapers?
Her heart skipped a beat.
She asked in a low voice, âWhatâs wrong? Has the media said anything?â
âNo, thatâs not it! Why would the media want to make an issue out of it?â
Nothing had happened? Eudora felt at ease and asked, âWhatâs the matter then?â
âItâs just that many people who had attended the banquet last night got really unlucky today! Itâs so strange!â
