Amos was still speaking on the phone outside when he heard the commotion.
His heart skipped a beat. He ended the call quickly and ran towards the front entrance.
It was very crowded but he couldnât see Eudora and the children anywhere.
He couldnât see Wesley either.
He pushed through the crowd and noticed that the door at the back entrance had been forced open Wesley came in from the back door with reddened eyes, holding Juju in his arms.
Juju started crying as soon as she saw Amos.
âIâm sorry, Daddy. Itâs all my fault. I lost my Sugar Bun and Mommyâ¦â
Amos was confused and worried at the same time, âWhat did you say?â
Wesley couldnât help the quiver and he gave a brief account of what had happened.
âItâs not Jujuâs fault. Itâs my fault for not being careful enough.â
âNo, blame me. If I hadnât run around, Sugar Bun wouldnât have been taken away by the bad guys. Mommy wouldnât have disappeared because she wanted to save Sugar Bunâ¦â
Amos stroked Jujuâs hair gently even though his heart was in turmoil.
Juju was already blaming herself. As her father, he couldnât possibly place more pressure on her mental state.
Holding back the anxiety in his heart, Amos said softly.
âJuju, donât blame yourself. The bad guys have already had it all planned out! Uncle Wesley will bring you home first. Trust me, I will definitely bring your Mommy and Sugar Bun back, alright?â
Juju looked at Amos eagerly, âPromise?â
âPromise!â
Amos then looked at Wesley and said, âTake her back and take good care of her.â
Wesleyâs eyes turned red, âMr. Granger, itâs my fault. I want to stay here and look for Mrs. Granger and Young Master too!â
âGo home!â Amos lowered his voice and said, âIâll make the arrangements here.â
Wesley knew Amosâ temper well. He then nodded and said, âOkay, Iâll go home right now then.â
Amos could feel his knees growing weak after Wesley and Juju left.
He took out his mobile phone and quickly called Clint, Charlie, and Harley. He made several mistakes as he punched the numbers on his phone.
He was trembling all over as fear grew in his fear.
It was an unknown fear.
Amos went to the security room and looked at the surveillance footage once he notified the men of the situation.
The event should have gone on smoothly since Amos had specially assigned a lot more security guards this time.
How could such a thing happen all of a sudden?
A thought suddenly flashed through his mind but it quickly disappeared.
He shouldnât think too much, and he needed to get his priorities straight at this moment. His top priority was to find his wife and Sugar Bun.
No matter if it was Eudora or Sugar Bun, they shouldnât suffer any more harm!
Amos looked through the surveillance footage shown to him carefully but to no avail.
The footage was cut off right at the moment when the commotion happened. There was only darkness left on the screen.
Nothing could be seen!
Amos took a deep breath, looked at the dark screen, and slowly stood up.
He smashed his fist down on the keyboard in front of the computer. The keyboard broke in half and the security guards shook in fear.
â¦
Harley and Charlie witnessed this scene as they entered the security room.
Charlie hurried forward and said, âMr. Grangerâ¦â
âIâm fine,â Amos took a deep breath, âI gathered youâve all heard of the situation by now, yes? I just noticed that the surveillance camera was cut off just as the commotion happened. Therefore, we could only find them through other ways now!â
Harley pursed his lips, âLetâs file this case and start the investigation! We have plenty of ways to find them.â
âNo, we canât!â
Charlie and Amos shouted at the same time.
Amos said coldly, âWe donât know what they want. They managed to kidnap Eudora and Sugar Bun despite all the security I have assigned here, which means that they are highly skilled.â
Harley was stunned, âAre you suggesting that it might have been an internal job?â
Amos shook his head, âWe canât exclude this possibility. Therefore, we canât report the case, at least not for the time being.â
âThen Iâll find a way to get the surveillance footage of the road. They would have to escape using some sort of transportation. I donât believe they could flee without having surveillance cameras capture them!â
Charlie also said, âI have spies around here too. Iâll ask around for more information. Theyâll definitely be fine!â
Amos hummed in reply. He ought to look for ways too.
âHold on, Charlie. You told me the last time that Thomas had some underlings colluding with the Nolan family secretly, didnât you? What happened to those people after the Nolan family fell?â
Harley was astonished, âAre you suggesting that they are Thomasâ men? It seems Thomas is not planning to stop at all, is he? Iâll investigate based on this information!â
âNo!â Amos shook his head, âLeave those people to me.â
â¦
Eudora could tell that she had been thrown into a van after getting captured. However, she couldnât see anything because her eyes were blindfolded. She could only judge the situation based on her intuition. It seemed that the van took a turn at the intersection before moving forward slowly.
Sugar Bun did not stop crying. He was visibly shaken by this abduction, coupled with his recent aversion toward Eudora.
If he was at home, Eudora could hand him over to Amos immediately, and he would have felt much at ease.
However, at this moment, even though Sugar Bun was rejecting her, Eudora did not dare let him go.
It was too dangerous. She could never hand over her child to the kidnappers. Therefore, she could only hug her child silently and comfort him, hoping that he would stop crying.
The two kidnappers soon became impatient.
âStop crying or Iâll beat you to death!â
Eudoraâs heart tightened and she held Sugar Bun tightly, âNo! If you dare to lay a finger on my child, Iâll kill you.â
The kidnapper snorted, âIâd like to see how youâd do that Youâre unable to save yourself, let alone others! Do you think that we did this for money?â
Eudora was baffled. Were they not looking for money? What were they doing this for then?
Another voice interrupted the manâs words, âWhat are you talking about? What else would a gangster seek if not for money? Cooperate with us and look after your child, then we wonât hurt you. But if you deliberately cause any trouble for us, we will not think twice to hurt both of you.â
Eudora was afraid that they would harm Sugar Bun, so she lowered her head hurriedly to coax the child.
âHush now my Sugar Bun. Stop crying.â
It would be a miracle if he would stop crying just because of Eudoraâs words.
No matter how Eudora tried to coax him, he still cried.
Eudora was so anxious that tears streamed down her face, âPlease, Sugar Bun. You can do whatever you want at home, but you really canât cry now.â
If they were to lose their patience, how would she be able to take care of Sugar Bun, especially since he was still so small?
