Eudora lay on the bed, her heart unprecedentedly calm.
It was the third day since she was locked up in this place. Fabian kept appearing before her over the past two days, disrupting her rest every time. Now that he was not here, she could finally think with a clear mind.
She thought of the time when she was together with Amos, the rare reunion of the family of four.
Eudoraâs lips curled into a smile.
All of a sudden, a rush of footsteps could be heard coming from outside, and Callum walked quickly through the corridor.
Eudora pricked up her ears and listened for a second, but she couldnât hear anything else aside from the footsteps.
All of a sudden, there was a loud bang, and Eudora could sense that something was off. She climbed up from the bed hurriedly. Her limbs had been untied ever since Fabian tried to strangle her, hence, she was free to move around in her cell.
She quickly took two steps towards the door, but it was kicked open before she could get to it. Fabianâs gloomy face came into view.
Eudoraâs entire body trembled. For a moment, she didnât know whether to advance or retreat.
Behind him, Callum said, âMr. Nolanâ¦â
âThink of a way to escape from this place!â Fabian commanded in a deep voice. âContact the ships!â
Callum nodded, and Eudora fell into shock.
What was he saying? Did the police find them? The tiny bit of frustration in her heart suddenly disappeared.
A trace of a smile appeared on Eudoraâs face. âLooks like youâre about to be caught! Am I right?â
Fabianâs face became even gloomier. âEudora, do you want me to be caught?â
âWhy not?â Eudora retorted. âYou killed my father even though he was so kind to you. You even blamed it on others. Not only that, but the crisis in our company also happened because of you. And finally, youâve locked me up here. Is this what you meant by âtreating me wellâ?â
Fabian parted his lips. âEudora, things are not what you think they are. Iâve never thought of hurting you. Whatever that happened to Uncle Holt really was an accident. As for everything else, am absolutely certain that I wouldnât hurt you. Thatâs why I did it!â
Eudora sneered. âYou couldnât hurt me because Amos was there to help me out every time. If it werenât for him, do you think that everything youâve done would be successful? Fabian, you really are disgusting!â
Fabianâs heart tightened, and he raised his hand subconsciously.
Eudora stood there and looked at him, unblinking. âCome on, hit me. Itâs not like itâs the first time anyway. You even strangled me! Iâm not afraid of you!â
His hand trembled slightly, but he couldnât do it in the end.
Taking a deep breath, Fabian lowered his voice and said, âEudora, come with me! It was my fault in the past. I will definitely repent. In the future, I will work harder than Amos, and I will not allow you to be in danger anymore!â
âIâm not going anywhere with you!â Eudora replied coldly. âStop wasting your time with me!â
Fabian frowned. Taking advantage of Eudoraâs moment of distraction, he knocked the back of her neck once again and immediately reached out to catch her in his arms. Eudora limped into his embrace, completely passed out.
âItâs all your fault, you made me fall for you. Donât you know that you are my only family now? I promised my mother that I would not let the woman I love to end up the way she did, and I will do everything in my power to ensure that. Since it has reached this point, I will never let you go!â

Meanwhile, in the Granger Family villa in Greene City.
Kesha sensed that Amos had become indifferent towards her ever since the incident at the company the day before.
However, when she really thought about it, he wasnât being that cold to her either. It just seemed that he didnât like to talk much and he always preferred to stay alone.
Kesha stood downstairs and looked at the calendar hanging on the wall, frowning slightly.
Time passed day by day. She couldnât wait any longer.
Kesha made her way upstairs and changed into the new clothes that she had bought the day before. They were not very good-looking, but she bought them because they were the same ones that Eudora used to like.
Kesha looked at her reflection in the mirror once she was done changing, and she looked just like Eudora. Satisfied, she stroked her face.
Amos will no longer resist her this time, would he?
Kesha turned around and picked up the fruits. She pushed the door open and walked to Amosâ bedroom.
âAmos, have some fruit!â
âCome in!â he replied.
Kesha pushed the door open and entered the room, placing the fruits on the table. âHave you been in a bad mood for the past few days? Why does it seem like you donât want to talk at all?â
She had already walked to the front of Amos.
As soon as he looked up, Amos felt as though he had seen the past. Back then, he and Eudora were still living in Rosaville City, and their relationship was going well.
When he was not busy with work, he would always accompany her at home. Then, Eudora would put on some casual clothes and rest on his lap.
The two of them were busy with their own businesses. From time to time, there might be a little fight, but overall, the time they spent together was quiet and peaceful.
âEudoraâ¦â Amos whispered.
Keshaâs lips curled up in satisfaction. She walked over and sat down on Amosâ legs.
âAmos, itâs been a long time since weâve been intimate. I thought you didnât like me anymore!â
Amos remained silent. Kesha then reached out her hand and caressed his back.
âDo you still want me? Amos?â
She said in a very charming way, deliberately imitating Eudoraâs coquetry, which appeared very convincing. Kesha clearly saw Amosâ eyes grow dark.
Kesha took advantage of the situation and placed her hand on Amosâ neck. She undid the buttons on his shirt one by oneâ¦
Just then, the phone suddenly rang.
Kesha was stunned, but her hands did not stop.
Amos ignored her and picked up the phone. He heard something from the other end of the line, and the corner of his lips curled up.
The next second, he pushed Kesha, who was unbuttoning his shirt, away. âEnough!â
Kesha was caught off guard and she fell onto the ground. Anger surged up in her heart, but she still plastered an innocent look on her face.
âAmos, whatâs wrongâ¦â
âAre you still pretending?â Amos laughed coldly. âKesha!â
Keshaâs heart sank. âAmos, I donât understand. Didnât Kesha die a long time ago? We all saw her fall off a cliff!â
Amos snorted. âDo you really think that I wouldnât notice someone impersonating Eudora? You do look like Eudora, and you do know a lot about her. But peopleâs personalities will never change! Youâve never had the tough and kind personality that Eudora has. You will never be able to imitate that, ever!â
Kesha gritted her teeth. âWhen⦠when did you find out?â
âSince the very beginning!â he replied.
Kesha was shocked. âWhy did you ask me to enter your study to retrieve the materials then? Have you gone mad?â
Amosâs lips curled up slightly. âIf I hadnât asked you to send the materials to Fabian, how could I have followed the clues to his headquarters?â
âYouâ¦Â you are despicable!â Kesha roared.
Amos didnât want to talk to her anymore. He got up and left the room.
Kesha suddenly shouted, âAmos, do you really think Iâve gone through all sorts of hardships to come back to you because I actually like you?â
Amos paused. The next second, with a hand in her knife, Kesha rushed towards him.
