Fabian noticed that Eudora was trying to look for something, and their eyes soon met. He smiled as he strode over.
âAre you hungry?â
Eudora didnât say a word, but Fabian had already taken a new spoon and scooped up a spoonful of the soup. He then brought it to her mouth.
Eudora took a deep breath. It was not the time to be angry, and she needed to eat something.
âOpen your mouth!â Fabian said.
Eudora opened her mouth obediently and ate it. Fabian was thrilled and he smiled.
âGood girl! Letâs have another bite.â
Eudora remained silent.
Fabianâs mood seemed to have grown better after half of the soup was gone. Looking at Eudora, he suddenly said in a low voice.
âEudora, donât you feel happy right now?â
She paused before looking up at him. He was smiling happily. âI feel so happy! Just the two of us sitting like this, and me feeding you!â
Eudora sneered. âWill you feel happy if youâre tied up?â
âIsnât that because you were too disobedient? I will let you go, but not now. Itâs not a good time for you to throw a fit now..â
He then scooped up another spoonful of soup and brought it to Eudoraâs mouth.
âI was very young when this happened to me the last time. I was so sick and I couldnât go anywhere as I had to stay in bed. My mother fed me!â
Fabian seemed to have thought of the simpler days of the past, and his tone became gentler.
âAt that time, Dad was always busy every day, going out and looking for fights. He would always be filled with scars when he came back and he would hurry to go out again. Only when I was with Mom, did I finally have the chance to calm down! Have you ever had this feeling?â
Eudora still did not speak, and Fabian did not seem to have any intention of probing her. He continued his own monologue.
âUnfortunately, my mother died soon after, and she was killed by none other than my fatherâs enemy. The day she passed away, she seemed to know that something would happen to her. That morning, out of the blue, she said that she would send me to my tuition classes, but I knew very well that I didnât need to go that day. I wanted to be with her, but she grew very angry with me for the first time. She cried and said that I was disobedient, and she was very sad.
I didnât want to make her sad, so I told her, âIâll go!â After that, I never saw her again. Half a month later, Dad asked someone to drag her out of the sea, and she was no longer with us in this worldâ¦â
Eudora pursed her lips and said, âYour mother is a good person. If she knew that you were doing such a thing, do you think that she would be happy?â
Fabian sneered, âDo you think that I wanted to do such a thing? Do I have other choices? My father is in this business. Iâve studied hard for so many years and I even went abroad. I just wanted to rid the Nolan family of their previous deeds.
However, you only truly realize how ridiculous you were when you finally do the things youâve set out to do! I have been isolated countless times and I even been betrayed, and finally, I found out that this is destiny! There is no way out once a personâs life has been predestined! You donât understand, you will never.â
âYouâre right, I donât understand!â Eudora looked at him coldly. âI donât know what mustâve forced you to fire on my father!â
Fabianâs face turned pale. âEudora, please listen to me. That wasâ¦â
âAlright, explain then!â Since she couldnât run now anyway, she wanted to hear Fabianâs explanation.
Fabianâs body suddenly stiffened. When he saw that Eudora had actually given him a chance to explain, he felt that whatever he said next would be a joke.
He reached out and tried to touch Eudoraâs hair, but she turned her head away.
Fabian simply stood up. âThis is what Iâve regretted doing the most in my entire life. I will use the remainder of my life to repay for my sins. Eudora, please give me a chance!â
Eudora smiled bitterly. âWho would give my father a chance then?â
Fabian frowned, turned around, picked up the fruit knife from the table, and handed it to her.
âWhy donât you stab me? Treat it as repayment to Uncle Holt, alright?â
He cut off the rope on Eudoraâs arm and handed the knife to Eudora. âDo it. I wonât resist.â
Eudora had considered Fabian as a friend in the past. Now that the truth had been exposed, she only felt disgusted towards him.
She resented Fabian even more for that especially after seeing Amos being stabbed.
She did not hesitate to stab Fabianâs chest with a knife as soon as she thought of the possibility of such a person getting away scot-free.
Fabian gripped Eudoraâs wrist at the very last second. His deep eyes gazed at her, filled with disappointment.
âEudora, is there really nothing between us?â
âHah! Why would there be something between me and a murderer?â
Fabian frowned. âWhat about Amos? Why did you still love him when everyone said that he was a murderer?â
âThatâs Amos! I trust him in my heart. But you? Why should I believe you?â
Fabianâs eyes widened. âI⦠I am your fiance! This is the first time that Iâve fallen in love with a woman, and thatâsâ¦â
Eudora had already laughed out loud before the word âyouâ could be uttered.
âThatâs what you thought. Iâve never admitted that youâre my fiance! Iâve never liked you either!â
Fabianâs heart ached, and he felt that these words were hard to listen to.
He had watched Amos risk his life to chase after Eudora in the past, to the point of even hurting himself. He had always felt that such a man was extremely worthless.
However, at this moment, he suddenly understood Amosâs feelings.
Eudora was someone who could make othersâ hearts ache for her.
Fabian took Eudora into his arms and threw the knife in her hand to the ground. With a clang, he held her tightly and said in a low and hoarse voice.
âThat was before. As long as I try my best to be good to you, you will realize all that Iâve done for you in the past!â
Eudora sneered, âI would never!â
âNo, you will. That day will come!â Fabian insisted. He didnât know whether he was lying to her or himself.
Or perhaps, he was lying to both of them.
â¦
Meanwhile, Amos had been admitted into a hospital. The doctors found that he had a lacerated artery, and he had suffered from an excessive loss of blood.
Fortunately, he was sent to the hospital in time. Hence, he was fine for the time being.
Harley breathed a sigh of relief, before remembering that Thea was still in the hospital. He took the opportunity to visit his wife. However, Clint had pushed open the door of the ward and walked in before he could exit.
Footsteps could be heard from behind. âClint? Howâs Amos?â
Clint was stunned and he turned around. He immediately saw Eudora standing behind him.
Clint was delighted. âMiss George, are you alright?â
Eudora smiled. âThatâs right, Iâm fine now. Quick, let me have a look at Amosâ¦â
