Tears were a magical thing. They could be held back, but there will be no control over them once they begin to fall.
Eudora held Juju in her arms, tears streaming down her cheeks.
At this moment, the sadness, grievance and tiredness she had been experiencing turned into tears that flowed down her cheeks.
Juju pursed their lips tightly into a straight line and looked eerily similar to Amos. Her behavior was the same as her fatherâs.
She was motionless as Eudora held her in her arms and continued to cry.
The people who had been urging Eudora for favours exchanged glances with each other when they witnessed this.
âNo, Miss. You have to sign my agreement firstâ¦â
âGet out!â
Juju roared suddenly. She covered Eudoraâs ears while glaring at those people sharply.
All of them initially assumed that Juju was no more but a six year old child. There was nothing for them to be afraid of.
However, her words and glares were a reflection of Tylerâs elegant demeanor back in those days!
As expected of the Holt familyâs child!
Several people were so scared that they fell silent immediately and trotted out to wait instead.
When Eudora was done venting her feelings, she wiped away her tears and looked at Juju.
âSorry, I am an incompetent mom.â
Juju shook her head. There was a hint of a smile on her tender face.
âDaddy said that everyone can be weak sometimes. Mommy, you are also a human, so why canât you be weak? You have me. When youâre weak, I will definitely stand behind you and support you.â
Eudora felt emotional again. She managed to hold back her tears with great difficulty, but they were threatening to fall again.
Fortunately, she managed to control herself.
After calming down, Eudora realized, âWhy are you here, Juju?â
âWho brought you here? Whereâs Sugar Bun?â
Jujuâs lips curved into a smile as she said, âDonât worry, Mommy. Sugar Bun is doing well because Uncle Wesley is taking care of him. As for who brought me here, Iâm sure you can guess!â
Eudora recalled Amosâ familiar face and immediately fell silent.
Juju looked at Eudora curiously and asked, âMommy, didnât you and Daddy make up already? Did you quarrel again?â
âChildren like you wonât understand the world of adults, so donât ask.â
Juju pouted in dissatisfaction. She wanted to say something, but she remembered Amosâ order asking her to take good care of Eudora. Hence, she decided to keep her word and stopped asking.
With the Holt familyâs current situation, Eudora knew that this wasnât the time for her to act willfully. She calmed herself down, quickly called the people in, and continued to look through the documents.
Juju had nothing to do, so she took a look around and quickly slipped out of the room.
The sky was already dark, and the whole yard was quiet with no signs of human activity. A small figure ran through the garden and out the gate.
When she gently pushed the door open, Juju poked her neck out and glanced around outside. Finally, her attention fell behind a bush and she called out softly.
âDaddy!â
Upon hearing this, Amos walked out from behind the bushes.
He thought that Juju had encountered something bad, so he looked anxious and asked, âWhatâs wrong? Is there something wrong with Mommy?â
Juju shook her head and explained, âItâs not that. Mommy is just very busy and there are a lot of people looking for her to sign documents. Sheâs been so tired that she cried!â
Amos frowned and snorted, âWho are they?â
âDaddy!â Juju interrupted him immediately, âThose are Mommyâs subordinates, theyâre not bad guysâ¦â
Amos was speechless.
Why did he feel that his daughter could see through his intentions at one glance?
He coughed softly, masking his awkwardness as he said, âThen why did you come out to look for me?â
Juju immediately giggled, âMommy must have had nothing to eat since sheâs so busy. I wanted to cook for her, but Iâm still too young. Daddy, can you come inside and help me cook?â
Amos was naturally willing to do so, butâ¦
âThe Holt manor isnât a place I can go in as I wish! Whatâs more, Iâm afraid that your Mommyâ¦â
She probably wouldnât want to see him nowâ¦
Jujuâs face was full of mischief as she smirked, âDaddy, this is a secret between you and me. Mommy wonât find out.â
A moment later, a small figure walked in with a slightly taller figure. Juju made an excuse that she needed to cook by herself to drive all the people in the kitchen out. Then, Amos went in and began to make some porridge.
Eudora certainly hadnât eaten well for these past few days. Therefore, it wasnât suitable for her to eat any greasy food. Amos decided to make her an ordinary bowl of millet congee, which was good for both her stomach and her body.
After that, he took out some radishes and cucumbers, then mixed them in a bowl to make some salad. It would taste great with some bread and make a scrumptious dinner.
After everything was made, Amos took Juju to the living room and hid behind her as he looked into the room. As expected, all the people in the room were looking at Eudora eagerly.
Eudora had been scanning through the documents with her head down. Although he couldnât see her expression, he could feel her exhaustion at the moment.
Amos frowned. Juju, who was standing next to him, sighed again.
âSigh! Mommy, youâre working too hard!â
After that, she chuckled heartily, âDaddy, am I right?â
Amos reached out his hand and touched her nose, laughing, âYou are so naughty! Donât think that Daddy doesnât know what you are thinking. You children will never understand adult affairs.â
Juju was quiet.
She pouted. It wasnât that she didnât understand, it was that her parents didnât want her to understand.
âGo ahead and bring the food in!â Amos sighed and said, âTell your Mommy to eat more.â
âOkay!â Juju responded, looking a little disappointed.
She originally wanted to take advantage of this opportunity to give her parents some time together. After all, Amos seemed really distressed after noticing Eudora working so hard.
But now, it seemed that she didnât succeed.
They kept saying that children didnât know about the world of adults! It seemed that they were really complicated!
After she waved to Amos, Juju walked in with a tray in her hands.
Eudora had finished reviewing the more urgent documents in her hands, and most of them had gone home gratefully. Hodge soon entered and suggested to everyone, âItâs late, so everyone should go home now! If thereâs anything else, you can talk about it tomorrow!â
Eudora looked at their eager gazes and couldnât bear to let them wait for an entire night.
âWhy donât you leave the documents here first? Iâll finish reading them overnight. You can come and take them tomorrow morning!â
Everyone happily placed their documents down after hearing that and turned around to leave.
After everyone left, Juju placed the tray of food in front of Eudora. She announced, âMommy, itâs time to eat!â
Eudora paused for a moment and asked, âDid you get someone to make this?â
âNo, Miss Juju did it herself!â Hodge chuckled, âMiss Juju said that no one was allowed to help!â
Eudora looked at Juju lovingly. Juju was still so young and she already knew how to cook.
Juju picked up the bowl of porridge and handed it to her, chiming, âMommy, have a bite!â
Eudora took a sip and a bite of the salad. Both dishes tasted very familiar.
While she was still dazed, Juju asked with a grin, âMommy, does it taste familiar?â
