âMom, donât worry, Dad will be fine!â Naomi comforted her.
Eudora hurriedly shook her head again, âWhat are you talking about? Of course, Amos will be fine. Heâs just angry with me! Whereâs my medicine? If you donât help me take it, Iâll take it myself!â
As she said, she got up from her seat.
Naomi stopped her again and said, âIâll get it for you! Just wait here!â
Eudora sat down obediently and reached out to hold Amosâ hand.
Naomi took a few steps outside and heard Eudora murmuring to Amos behind her.
âDid you hear that? Iâm being a good girl. Hurry up and wake up!â
Naomiâs nose twitched for no reason. She hurriedly restrained herself and quickly walked out.
Her parents had been in love with each other for their whole lives. She had witnessed their journey since she was young. Eddison might not know about their history too well as he was really young back then.
She remembered the time when there had been a great misunderstanding between them, but Amos had still treated Eudora with love.
She was raised around such deep affection and love. It was probably one of the reasons why she had been so disappointed and sad after she was betrayed by Nelson.
What disappointed her was that she greatly fantasized about having the love that her parents had, and she was afraid that she would never experience such love again.
Naomi took a deep breath and settled her emotions before going back to where her parents stayed.
After she quickly packed the medicine, she bought a pack of chicken chop which Eudora loved from a nearby store. Then, she went back to the hospital.
When she arrived, she saw that Eudora had fallen asleep by the bed.
She laid there, and her hands were tightly intertwined with Amosâ.
The sun shone through the window, illuminating Eudoraâs hair. Naomi looked at the scene for a long time before gently waking her up.
âMom, Iâve brought the medicine!â
âGood! Give them to me now!â
âThat wonât do! You have to eat something first, or youâll have a stomachache. When Dad wakes up, heâll be worried again.â
In short, as long as she brought up Amos to Eudora, she would become obedient.
She finished her meal and then took the medicine.
Naomi stood up to pack her things up, and Eudora went towards Amosâs bedside.
She began to murmur, âSmell me! It smells like medicine, doesnât it? I really took my medicine!â
Naomi sighed and turned to leave.
The phone rang with a call from Eddison. Naomi went to pick him and Rachel up immediately.
â¦
At the station, Eddison and Rachel arrived.
However, when Naomi saw them, she could tell that their relationship had improved a lot. She even saw them holding hands when they came up to her. They looked happy together.
Noticing Naomiâs gaze, Rachel felt a little shy and wanted to withdraw her hand, but she was dragged back by Eddison.
Naomi quickly withdrew her gaze and said, âDonât worry. Dad is currently stable.â
Eddison breathed a sigh of relief and asked, âWhat about Mom?â
âSheâs okay, but she has been staying in the hospital with Dad! Sheâll be overjoyed to see you.â
Naomi took the lead and brought them to the hospital.
On the way, Naomi found an opportunity.
She gossiped with Eddison in a low voice, âWhatâs going on? Did Rachel finally manage to melt your heart?â
Eddison turned his head away shyly, retorting, âWhat are you talking about? We were already in a good relationship in the first place!â
âReally? If so, I wonder who refused to marry Rachel and even went on a hunger strike?â
âShhâ¦â Eddison hurriedly gestured for Naomi to shut up. âAre you really my sister?â
Bemused, Naomi conceded, âAll right! Of course, I am your sister. Iâm also happy to see you so happy! Rachel is a fine girl. Congratulations on finding love!â
In front of them, Rachel turned back.
She asked, âNaomi, Eddison, which way should we go?â
âWeâre here!â Naomi hurriedly caught up.
âMom!â The moment Eddison entered, he rushed over to greet Eudora. Eudora nodded her head, as if she finally understood their relationship.
Looking worried, Rachel said, âAre you alright?â
Eddison shook his head, âWe arenât judging you. Itâs just that you havenât been in a good mood since Dad got hospitalized.â
Rachel looked at Eudoraâs worried face, and could not help but think of her own parents, and an inexplicable bout of envy rose in her heart.
âYour parents love each other so much.â
âThatâs right! Theyâre really close to each other!â Eddison said with a sigh.
Three days had passed. Eudora had been taking her medicine diligently. Every day, she would talk to Amos, and ask him to wake up quickly.
However, as time passed, Eudora began to feel a little worried.
One night, Naomi woke up in the middle of the night and found that Eudora was crying. Perhaps out of fear of disturbing others, she only sobbed in a low voice.
She wanted to go up and check on Eudora, but then she heard her crying out Amosâs name in an aggrieved tone.
âYouâre a liar. Didnât you say that you would accompany me forever? What are you doing, lying here on the sickbed?â
Naomi felt incredibly uncomfortable, therefore she stepped back.
That night, Eudora did not sleep and Naomi was awake all night long as well.
The next morning, as soon as Naomi woke up, Eddison came to see her.
âNaomi, hurry and persuade Mom! Sheâs not taking her medicine!â
âWhat? Havenât she been taking them these days?â
âYes! However, she doesnât want to eat them today. Sheâs refusing to eat her meals too!â
Naomi remembered what had happened the night before. Not having the time to wash her face, she hurriedly rushed to the ward.
As soon as she entered, she saw Eudora sitting beside the table of the ward, and next to her was Rachel, who was holding Eudoraâs breakfast with a worried face.
âMom, how about you take one bite?â
Eudora liked Rachel, but at the moment, she refused to speak and look at her, which made Rachel so anxious that she almost cried.
Naomi hurriedly went over to take the bowl from Rachelâs hand.
âYou havenât eaten breakfast, have you? Why donât you and Eddison eat first? Iâll stay with Mom!â
Rachel nodded gratefully. Naomi then put the things on the table.
âMom, if you donât eat anything, Dad will be sad when he wakes up!â
âYouâre lying too!â Eudora said, and her tears fell.
âAmos must be sick of me. Thatâs why heâs refusing to wake up. Whatâs the point of me taking my medicine then?â
Naomi sighed, âHow could that be? He dotes on you the most.â
âThen, ask him to wake up!â
âMomâ¦â Naomi felt helpless, pleading, âYouâre being too stubborn.â
Eudora was stunned upon hearing Naomiâs words. She stood there in a daze for a long time, not saying anything.
Naomi thought that she had been harsh, therefore she hurriedly explained, âSorry, Mom. I didnât mean it! Donât be sad!â
âNaomi, do you think Amos is abandoning me?â
âThatâs impossible.â
âReally?â Eudoraâs tears fell. âI really canât live without Amos! Although Iâve always found him to be annoying, without him, I canât live on my own!â
âThat wonât ever happen!â Naomiâs tears fell too. She got up and hugged Eudora, consoling her, âDad loves you so much, so why would he abandon you?! Iâll look for the best doctors in the country. We will cure Dad, okay?â
