Naomi met Nelsonâs gaze, and she subconsciously took a step back. As a result, she accidentally bumped into the door behind her.
Hearing the noise, Emma came out from her room while rubbing her eyes drowsily.
âWhat happened?â
Naomi shook her head, âNo big deal. I just saw a person.â
Out of curiosity, Emma stretched out her head to have a look.
âNelson? What is he doing here? Donât tell me that heâs going to stand there the entire night!â
Naomi said, âI donât know.â
In fact, she was quite troubled.
She could be resolute in the face of everyone except Nelson. She couldnât help but hold back when she saw him.
She would prefer it if he had come back for revenge. However, he still maintained that attitude of his, wanting to protect her, which put her in a dilemma.
Emma understood her feelings. Therefore, she pulled her over and comforted her, âItâs okay, go to sleep first! He canât be that silly to stand there for the whole day. He probably just came to see you on a whim. I bet heâll leave tomorrow. Thereâs still a lot of work in the company awaiting you, so you have to rest well!â
Naomi was indeed dizzy. When she heard that she tried to calm herself down.
âOkay, good night.â
âI need to go to the toilet.â
By the time Emma came out, Naomi had already fallen asleep. Emma curiously looked out of the window again, only to find that Nelson was no longer there.
She was happy that she had guessed things right.
However, in the next moment, her jaw dropped.
It turned out that he was indeed no longer standing there, but lying on the ground instead. It seemed that he had collapsed.
She was afraid that his life might be in danger, but she dared not inform Naomi about it, hence she opened the door and went downstairs by herself.
â¦
When Naomi got up the next day, there was no one downstairs.
Emma was nowhere to be seen.
Naomi thought Emma was still sleeping, thus she prepared breakfast for both Emma and herself. To her surprise, the door was opened by someone from the outside just when she was about to go out.
Emma came in, panting heavily, with breakfast in her hand.
âAre you hungry? Letâs eat!â
Naomi shook her head, âIâve eaten my portion, and Iâve left some for you over there. By the way, where did you go just now?â
Emma faltered, âUh, I-I didnât do anything special. I suddenly didnât know what to eat in the morning, so I went out to buy breakfast.â
Naomi knocked on her head jokingly and said, âYou donât have to keep worrying about me. I can take care of you too. Look at the dark circles under your eyes. It must be because you didnât sleep well last night.â
Emma said, âItâs okay! Iâm totally fine. Give me a second, Iâll change my clothes, and then we can go to the company together.â
Naomi asked, âAre you sure you donât need to have some rest?â
âI donât need that. Moreover, we donât have time to rest now.â
âAlright then!â
They no longer treated each other as strangers anymore. They would tell each other frankly if they were not feeling well.
â¦
As soon as Naomi entered the company, she found that there was something amiss.
Just as she was befuddled by the strange atmosphere in the company, Sharon came up to her while crying.
âNaomi, our latest blueprint has been stolen!â
Naomi was flummoxed, âWhat? How did that happen?â
âIâm not lying! The new resort model that was released by the Olsen Group this morning is exactly the same as ours!â
Naomi took the newspaper that Sharon was holding in her hand. It showed the latest model released by the Olsen Group in detail.
âI didnât expect them to be so unscrupulous,â said Emma who felt quite angry. In her opinion, the reason why the Olsen Group had done such a thing was most likely because of Naomi.
âWhat should we do now?â
Sharon was still an inexperienced young girl. When such a misfortune happened, her mind was in turmoil. She had no idea what to do at all. All she did at the moment was just shed tears.
Naomi stroked her head consolingly before she looked at Lindsay, who was standing on the other side.
âHow do you think we should handle this?â
Lindsay kept quiet. From the beginning until then, she had been standing quietly with her head lowered, and no one knew what she was thinking about.
Naomi called her name again, âLindsay?â
Lindsay came to her senses and answered, âRegarding this matter, I will come up with a solution.â
Naomi sighed and said, âOkay, go back to work first! Sharon, stop crying. Whatâs done is done. No matter what happens in the end, our previous designs and plans canât be used anymore. We have to think of another way. You guys have been exhausted recently, so why donât you take the opportunity to go home, take a rest and try to figure out a solution.â
It seemed to be the only thing they could do at the moment.
âLindsay, you should go back too!â
Seeing that Lidsay didnât move, Naomi reminded her.
âI-Iâd better stay. Maybe there will be something that I can help with later.â
Naomi patted her on the shoulder and turned to go to her office.
Emma followed her.
â¦
Emma closed the door as soon as she entered Naomiâs office. She said, âNaomi, with regard to this matter-â
âAre you suspecting that itâs Culver who did it?â
Naomi knew her quite well. She had already seen through her mind when they were outside just then.
âWho else is capable of doing such a thing except him? I didnât expect a man like him would be so stingy!â
Naomi shook her head. âNo!â
âWhat?â
âHe didnât do it.â
She knew Culver well. He had a complacent attitude, and he would not be satisfied by using such an underhanded tactic.
In his eyes, other peopleâs ideas were not as good as his own.
Furthermore, he would regard such unprincipled action with disdain.
Emma was confused. âItâs not him? Then, who else could it be?â
Naomi whispered, âThose who came into direct contact with the project.â Although she didnât want to suspect her own people, it remained a distinct possibility.
âAre you referring to those in the project management team in our company?â
Emma gasped, âHow could that be?â
Naomi pursed her lips, âIn all likelihood we have a traitor.â
âCould it be someone among the newcomers? They didnât have a chance to handle the project, though.â
âI think the person used some kind of underhanded tactics. Perhaps they will let the cat out of the bag later. We shall wait and see what happens.â
Emma clenched her fist, swearing, âOkay. Once I find out who did it, I will make sure they will suffer.â
After a pause, Emma spoke again.
âEven if we come up with a new blueprint, we canât let them know about it. Otherwise, it will be taken away again!â
Naomi had thought of that as well.
However, she failed to think of a perfect solution that could ensure that they would complete the project in time without letting their enemies know about it.
Emma suggested, âWhy donât we ask Nelson for help?â
Naomi was mystified, âWhy are you mentioning him again?â
Speaking of him, Naomi couldnât help thinking about his behavior the previous night. He used to be a collected person, but he had really behaved unusually then.
Emma said, âHeâs actually quite-â
Before Emma could finish her words, Naomiâs phone rang. As soon as she picked it up, they could hear Culverâs voice.
âNaomi!â
His voice was so loud that Emma could hear it despite the fact Naomi didnât put him on speaker. Emma thought he was looking for trouble.
However, in the next second, he spoke pitifully, âWhy arenât you apologizing to me yet?â
